SANDWICHES DON'T HOLD THE FILLING

Great for a quick meal

The soup was excellent! So quick and easy. For the grilled cheese dippers, I couldn't find pepper jack soup, so I used nacho cheese soup instead, which worked just fine.

Very Yummy!

Just enough spice to give it a kick!! do not cut the Baguette bread too thick though.

Disgusting

Rated Only Two Stars

My sister-in-law and I made this last weekend with our daughters. The soup was fine, albeit too spicy for the girls (mom's liked it). The sammies were a disaster, though. The filling is too liquid to stay put and melted out all over the place. We scraped up some of it and let it harden and then tried to put it back between the bread but that didn't work very well. Just a "two."

great dippers! super cheesy

User: sheila from hayward, CA    User Rating:
the cheese dippers were wonderful. a wonderful twist on a grilled cheese. we used regular sourdough bread cut into strips, which worked great...we would have saved time and money making a single can of condenced tomato soup, the recipe tasted weird.

User: Darren from Sperry, OK    User Rating:
This is a very good diversion from the plain grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup combo. Next time we'll definitely do without the hot pepper in the soup. It's spicy enough on it's own.

great for a cold night

User: Aimee from Reno, NV    User Rating:
I half the tomato juice and added chicken stock and crushed tomatoes for a deeper flavor and it was awesome! I loved the grilled cheese sandos too, nice and creamy! A must try for a cold night!

User: Jeri Ann from Virginia Beach, VA    User Rating:
I loved all the spicy hot in both the soup and the sandwiches! The cheese filling for the sandwiches is genius - thick, creamy, spicy and yummy. The key is slice the bread thin (1/2 in. as Sandra recommends). I'll make again and again. The soup is spicy and good too. Both dishes are quick, inexpensive, easy and tasty.

I can't say enough about this kicked up soup and sandwich combo

What a delightful meal. Such a cool twist on the regular soup and grilled cheese. I had no problem with oozing of the filling. I just made sure not to overstuff the bread. You don't have to use much filling because it's full of flavor.

My husband and two teenage boys loved this combo! The only change I made was to reduce the tabasco sauce by one tsp. because less spice is what my family prefers. This made the soup perfect for us! This was super quick and yummy!

Perfect for a complete dinner!

There's enough cheese glop in this recipe that you don't even need to serve a vegetable! Be careful with the spices though; my 6 month old and 9 month old both cried when I tried to feed them the soup. They enjoyed the sammies though! Thx!

What a perfect idea for a lunch or a light dinner. This even works with our 2 children; Chloe 7, Payton 5. The soup has just a touch of spice and the sandwiches are oh so cheesy, yet not too filling. We loved it and totally recommend this to anyone who loves tomato soup and/or grilled cheese sandwiches. Delightful and tasty!!!

The soup was very good but the sandwich was a total disaster
03/29/2006 at 11:09am
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
The SOUP was very nice. I hadn't thought of using tomato juice instead of water and thought that was a clever and delicious idea. I even added a bit more hot sauce to it! The SANDWICH, however, was an unmitigated disaster. Using canned soup as a sandwich filling defies the laws of gravity. As the cheese melted and the soup warmed up, it ran out all over the place! It was a huge mess and I had to throw it away. I suspect that people who say it worked either didn't really make it or altered the recipe somehow.

Loved the soup

I was hesitant to try this recipe because of some of the reviews that it got. I am glad I did anyway because my whole family loved it! The soup was good and the sandwhiches where great. I was just careful not to put too much of the cheese mixture on the sandwhiches so that it wouldn't be too messy.
