Mini Burgers tasted strange

and the toasted disks were hard. Made it difficult to serve and eat. Too big for one bite with the meatball and disk. But couldn't dite into without making a mess.

Impractical and Bad Tasting

User: Francine from Baltimore, MD    User Rating:
Meatballs balanced on stale toast filled with ketchup just doesn't work. They roll off. Plus they taste bad.

Silly idea

This was basically a meatball on stale bread. They fell off! Not good at all ....

I thought we'd gotten rid of these

User: Bagatha from Portland, ME    User Rating:
I thought they were on the bottom of a lake someplace with her boiled spare ribs!

The pot roast seasoning was not exactly right for meatballs
11/16/2006 at 01:21pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
First, it was a pretty salty addition. The spices were suited more for baking for a longer time. Second, the presentation was almost childish looking. It did not come off looking sophisticated. Third, this was very ungraceful for my guests to eat as finger foods. I noticed people leaving them on the plate rather than risking the meatball falling of onto the floor.

Toasted Disks?

I actually made these too as opposed to the very last reviewer projecting his/her mountain home trollness onto normal people. They were delicious. Plus they are darn cute.

Idiotic. Good luck keeping the balls balanced on old bread. Sandra must be completely off her rocker.

Peculiar-tasting meat balls balenced precariously on stale bread

Suffice to say they were NOT popular appetizers at the party.

These didn't work wells at all

What a poor-tasting mess.

Too difficult to eat
04/09/2006 at 11:52pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
The ketchup and mustard make a terrible mess when the round burgers fall off the disks, which they did at least half a dozen times at my party! I'm not sure how to hold stale toast together lol

very cute for appetizers
04/05/2006 at 11:29pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
if you hold your bread together the meatballs stay in fine.lol

My kids didn't like these

I had my kids in the kitchen with me on this recipe. They really had fun squishing their thumb in the middle of the mini burger! (Don't forget to wash!) And, my son who doesn't eat much meat really thought these were great! We melted cheese in the middle and had mini cheese burgers :) YUM!

my family loved these!

User: lennie from joy, IA    User Rating:
salty, greasy and the toast was hideous.

We didn't like the meatballs or the bread.
03/28/2006 at 02:24pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
We hated the taste of the potroast seasoning. And the meaballs should have been flat like burgers so they don't roll off. And the bread was stale. Either serve it fresh or toast it right before serving -- don't leave it out to get stale. This recipe seems really "screwed up."

Not exactly popular here

User: Sir Edmund from Teebagg, NJ    User Rating:
I made 17 platters of these burger balls for our annual Christmas in March by the Beach celebration and none of my guests complained either. Us New Jersey folk have better manners. Instead, they just the whole bunch directly in the trash.

Had to throw them away
03/22/2006 at 12:11pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I put out a platter of these for "March Madness" on Sunday and no one would touch them. I have to admit that they didn't look all that appetizing. I did eat one and thought that the seasoning was sort of funny.

Delicious

User: Hillary from teaneck, NJ    User Rating:
These were delicious!! We served them as a game night dinner, and it was amazing, no one complained and everyone was full. However, the amount of burgers this says it makes is off by a lot, we used 3 lbs of chopped beef because we were serving a larger crowd and used the serving size directed and it only made about 40 burgers

meatballs did not stay on the toast when i was serving these
02/26/2006 at 07:54am
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
My guest said they weren't very good either. They didn't like the hard toast texture.

Just ok

User: Cherity from Reseda, CA    User Rating:
I made these for Super Bowl Sunday and they mostly sat on touched.....of course it could have been that my guests were more interested in alcohol than food....lol. I happened to think they were tasty, but one complaint.....I used extra lean ground beef, but the grease still pooled in the middle of the hamburger and needed to be scooped out before serving......pain in the butt!!!

Simple

Meatballs fell off the stale bread rounds
02/14/2007 at 02:36pm
User: Eunice from Dayton, OH    User Rating:
I am not sure if this recipe is a mistake or what but the meatballs went EVERYWHERE and it was a huge mess. Also, they were very salty and tasted funky from the weird seasoning packet.

Changed it up a bit
02/02/2008 at 09:06pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I didn't like the pot roast seasoning so I change it up and added diced garlic, onions, shredded cheddar cheese, season salt, and pepper instead. The toasted bread was a nice change.

Excellent as Burgers!!

User: LAURI from Avoca, MI    User Rating:
I decided to make this recipe into burgers when I realized I didn't have an olive oil spray for the bread. All I can say is WOW they were great! I only added 1 tbs. of worchestire sauce and some pepper to the hamburger mixture, fried them up and they were excellent even without buns. I will be definitely making these again. Thanks Sandra!!

I have been making a variation of these for DECADES! Lightly toast any kind of bread you wish, any size. Mix your ground beef with anything you wish (I use onion soup mix, usually). Spread the burger mixture on the toasted bread and broil. Serve with small bowls of finely chopped onions, and any other condiments of your choice. You won't be disappointed.
