Expat in the Netherlands 07/07/2008 at 06:22am User: Anonymous User Rating: This was a fabulous recipe. Quick, easy and very tasty. I served this salad to my guest at a BBQ I had in honor of my American 4th of July celebration. There was not one morsel left in the bowl! The only change I made was to use baby greens instead of endive, as they were out of endive at the grocery store. I chose to use the hazelnut oil in the dressing as well. This was a fantastic recipe that is now in my keeper file. Thank you Giada for a fabulous recipe. We loved this salad! 07/03/2008 at 09:15am User: Carolyn from Fishers, IN User Rating: We served this salad at an intimate dinner party and it was a huge success. I had to inprovise with some of the ingredients, but the salad was wonderful. Wonderful 01/03/2008 at 10:54pm User: Laneda from Munford, TN User Rating: I've made this twice and just bought the ingredients to make it again. It is delicious. Tips for storing dressing? 07/25/2007 at 11:58am User: Charlene from Farmington, MN User Rating: I love this salad! The dressing is very delicious! However, I put the remainder in the fridge to use later in the week and it hardened. After leaving it out at room temperature for a little while it did return to it's liquid state. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to store the dressing? I'm thinking it should be refridgerated like other salad dressings are (and to keep the shallots fresh) but then it thickens to a state that is unservable. Thanks for the tips! Very refreshing 07/18/2007 at 10:38am User: TERRI from Stow, OH User Rating: My grocery was out of frisee but found a greens blend that contained it and did use the endive. The salad was so tasty and refreshing with the orange flavor and was complimented by the toasted hazelnuts. I received many kudos and 4 of us ate the whole salad as a side-dish, no leftovers! A keeper for sure. Dee-licious! 06/12/2007 at 09:15pm User: Wendy from Anaheim, CA User Rating: I've made this salad about 3-4 times already and it's just as good every time. All my guests love it and ask how it's made! This salad is my favorite! husband's favorite 06/07/2007 at 06:04pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I started making this salad during the winter and my husband loves it. He will tell anyone who will listen how great this salad is. You can do alot with the dressing besides this salad. The only down side is segmenting the blood oranges, but it all goes together perfectly! Wonderful dressing 04/29/2007 at 10:42pm User: Darci from Bothell, WA User Rating: The dressing for this salad was so easy and delicious. I'm already thinking of other things I can put it on. Great Salad! 04/12/2007 at 01:04am User: Desiree from Seattle, WA User Rating: I thought this was a great recipe for a basic salad. I made a few changes: I used canned mandrin oranges instead of fresh-which tasted great with this and I also used bagged salad greens instead of frisee lettuce. Great salad! I used a bagged salad mix which included frisee and I used walnuts and walnut oil. The salad is absolutely delicious. The dressing is what sends it over the top. Don't skimp on the oranges. Perfect! EXCELLENT 01/06/2007 at 12:06pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I served this salad to company and it was a big hit. Great Salad! 05/06/2005 at 05:12pm User: LISA from Santa Clarita, CA User Rating: I made this salad as a first course for a recent dinner party. What a beautiful and delicious salad! The blood oranges I bought were on the small side, so the next time I will allow one orange per two people, just to add a little more color to the salad. The toasted hazelnuts are a must and the balsamic vinaigrette goes beautifully with the Frisee and Endive. You've done it again Giada! salad with the oranges&zest 04/17/2005 at 02:21pm User: PATRICIA from lindenhurst, NY User Rating: I doubled the recipe and added orange juice to the bal.vinager and added just a little more variety of salads plus I toasted walnuts and added dried cranberries also. My husband is not particularly fond of any kind of salads, but he took a second helping of this one. The different flavors all mixed together taste great and I especially liked the look and originality of the salad, definitely not run-of-the-mill. Giada Does It Again 02/08/2005 at 09:22pm User: ANN from Farmington, CT User Rating: This salad is amazing! The combination of flavors is great! Growing up, my Sicilian grandparents would add blood oranges to salads and even pasta with spinach. I made this salad for our own weeknight dinner and I can't wait to serve it to guests! |
