Tasty! 12/04/2005 at 10:39am User: Paul from Oviedo, FL User Rating: These are very good. I used 1/2 wheat flour and a little more brown sugar than was called for. I did not have any wheat germ and therefore omitted that ingredient. These waffles have many layers of flavor. You can almost taste each ingredient individually. Our 2 1/2 year old ate an entire waffle herself ;) Excellent Waffles!! 11/11/2007 at 11:43pm User: Lori from Auburn, WA User Rating: These waffles are SO yummy!! I made some alterations to make them even healthier. I used 2 TBL melted butter and 6 TBL applesauce, substituted whole wheat pastry flour for the flour and used ground flax meal for the wheat germ. I made them in my belgium waffle maker. They turned out so good! Delicious and Healthy 11/05/2006 at 01:28pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is a really delicious waffle that is healthy also. I made it even more healthy by substituting 1/2 cup egg whites for the 2 whole eggs and using 1/2 cup canola oil instead of the butter/peanut oil combo. My husband and I really loved these waffles and I will definitely make them again. Great waffles! 10/23/2005 at 02:18pm User: Charlie from Avondale, AZ User Rating: Just tried these this morning with whole wheat flour and ground flax in place of the wheat germ (I was out of wheat germ), and they turned out great. Next time I am going to try them with some chopped up apples and walnut in them. Thought it might be a nice alternitive. I also used a low fat buttermilk in place of the milk. Hearty Yum!! 10/12/2006 at 09:11pm User: Trinity from My town, CT User Rating: These are SO hearty! I got about 4 waffles from a Belgium waffle maker and they were great. The cinnamon makes all the difference in the world. I made it once without wheat germ because I was out and they didn't turn out well, so make sure you actually have all the ingredients. My kids only want these waffles now and won't touch the frozen ones. Unbelievable 05/30/2006 at 02:19pm User: amy from austin, TX User Rating: Wow, I am so impressed with this recipe. The waffles are simply delicious!! I agree with the other reviewer who said you can almost taste every ingredient.... it's true. One batch made 4 large circular waffles for me. I used all whole wheat flour and also substituted ground flax seed for the wheat germ, as I always do. I used orange juice in place of most of the milk and added 1 tsp. ground ginger and 1 Tbsp. chopped candied ginger. These were so delicious, my children want them every morning for breakfast. They barely need any topping. Mmm Mmm Good! |
