Delicious!

This recipe was so... flavorfull :) and easily adjustable meaning I used 6 thighs and a pound of shrimp (lots of greedy mouths to feed). Not a fan of sweet potatoes so I use Yukon Gold Potatoes instead, UM UM GOOD! I thought it would be spicer but I would call this only a category 3 fire out of 5. This is a winner!

A Gem

This one is going to be one of my staples from now on, something I see passing down to my children. I gave it five stars because of its simplicity and taste. Its healthy and can be eaten often. Because I am imcapable of following a recipe to exactness I added a little sherry to deglaze the sauteed veggies. I also used more coconut milk than it called for and added it sooner. It is a good way to turn down the heat. Loved it!

I made this last night for supper and my husband and I both loved it! Side note, you can leave out the shrimp if you want. I don't feel like they added much to the recipe.

Fantastic

Not only is the flavor absolutely incredible, but it is very easy to control the amount of "heat". I took a pot of it to a company party, and it was a big hit. Two thumbs up to the creator of this dish!

So good you won't believe it!

Oh man, it's hard to describe how wonderful the combination of ingredients is in this dish. You can adjust the heat to your liking, so don't be too afraid of that (vary the amount or type of chile you use if you're afraid of the scotch bonnet/habanero). One thing to note though, the scotch bonnet is known for being very hot; however, the heat doesn't linger a very long time the way some other chiles do. The flavor is complex and exotic, but homey and comforting at the same time. It's sweet and hot and savory all at once. The kale holds up beautifully, the okra thickens it perfectly and there's texture galore. I am going to make this a regular in my kitchen.

Truly delicious

Very unusual dish for me and my husband. Both enjoyed the new flavor and the mixture of kale, sweetpotatoes, cocunut milk, etc. I used serrano pepper, so wasn't as hot.

My husband and I loved this recipe. It had a wonderful flavor. Although he couldn't taste the heat, it was almost too hot for me. It was our first time to try kale and we liked it--not too strong a flavor (I hate greens) and hearty enough to not lose all shape in a stew like this.

Wonderful

I cooked this in a crock pot. I substituted 1 large frozen chicken breast and frozen okra. I cut a habanero in half and took out the seeds. I love spicy foods, but next time I'll just use half of the pepper so the kids can eat the soup. I cooked all except the last two ingredients for 3-4 hrs on high in the crock pot. I added the coconut milk and shrimp during the last 5 mins of cooking. Definitely will make again.

Wow!!

There is a reason that so many people have given this 5 stars. Healthy, taste awesome, easy to make...this recipe is a winner. I can't believe my family ate Kale, and I'm not going to tell them either.

I dont think i would want to try this recipe by just looking at it, This recipe is missing the key ingredient in pepperpot, that is cassereep(made from the yuca root) it is so not caribbean like. Pepperpot is the national dish of Guyana, it is an amerindian dish and has a lot of flavor, while i appreciate the variation, it takes away from the tradition taste. Please change the name to something else, every caribbean person knows that there is no pepperpot without cassereep.

delicious!

This is a great recipe that I got from the "diabetic" recipes website-- the sweet potatoes are a MUST-- do NOT substitute regular potatoes-- you'd be missing out, but I didn't have okra in my local market, so I made it with zucchini, which turned out fine. I used a pierced (not minced) habanero, which added PLENTY of heat to the recipe (I was skeptical, because we like REALLY spicy food). It's yummy, healthy, and got rave reviews in my house.

mouthwatering

I did not try this, but it looks like a delightful, if not fiery, dish. I have a little experience with Caribbean food. However, I am curious about the note at the end.... *Cooks' Note: Not for the faint of heart, Scotch bonnets are about as fiery as a chile gets. If you can't find one, substitute a habanero. It is my understanding that the two are one in the same. So, a substitution would be futile and possibly disappointing.

Not very spicy

I don't know what happened to mine, but it was not spicy at all. Perhaps I didn't prepare the pepper right, but it really didn't have any kick to it. Otherwise it did taste great.

Unusual, delicious combo

Yum, I knew I would like it from the minute I smelled the start of step 3. I followed ingredients to a tee, except I forgot to buy a pepper so I added cayenne. My hubby and I loved it. Surprised by the kale and sweet potatoes(which I cut smaller), not something we eat but the unusual blend of ingredients was scrumptious.

wonderful
