Too Sweet and Runny

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I thought that the tomato soup was too sweet. If I were to make it again, I would drain the cottage cheese more as it made it really runny. It was okay but I probably won't make it again.

Great!

I live in Poland so finding all the ingredients isn't easy :) I made some adjustments and instead of using tomato soup, I made a sauce with a tomato paste/pre made sauce. It turned out great!! :)

WONDERFUL!

User: Candice from Pennington Gap, VA    User Rating:
The first time I made this, I questioned the ingredients the whole time I was cooking but the end result was wonderful! This is definitely not traditional lasagna but its hands down the best I've had. Even my "picky eaters" love this. It's now a family favorite.

UGH -- Horrible

The tomato soup was just horrible. We threw it out.

You've Got to Be Kidding???

User: Bob from Bradford, PA    User Rating:
Forget for one moment the Cottage Cheese over Ricotta. Forget the Vinegar. But there is no way to get over cans of Tomato Soup instead of a Tomato Sauce. If you're looking for an easy way out, get take-out. If you're cleaning out your cupboards, donate the ingredients before you try this mistake. Just the thought of it makes me want to lick dryer lint to get the taste out of my minds tongue.

This was incredible

I have never been able to make a decent lasagna until now. This was by far the best I have ever tasted. I never would've thought to use soup. I make this all the time now. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT

Easy to make - good to eat

User: Craig from Allegan, MI    User Rating:
Made this for some friends and it really went well. I read the other user reviews and noted that there was a running trend of people tinkering with it, so I did as well. I added some ricotta cheese and halved the tomato soup, adding in marinara to replace. Also added some green peppers to the meat while it was browning to season it a little more. Then I threw some pepperoni slices into the layers -- but not too much. Wanted to add a little more spice, but not dominate. End result was great. Everyone went back for seconds, and the finnicky one didn't even mind that there was pepperoni (something he normally does not enjoy), so I felt good about my tinkering. Great base recipe to start with and make your own.

User: Eileen from Port Saint Lucie, FL    User Rating:
I am not big on Italian cooking, and as such, I had never bothered to make lasagna always believing it was too much work. Well not true with this GREAT recipe! The prep was minimal and the taste was superb. I had myself and 5 guests for dinner and they thought the meal was just wonderful. Every one of my guests asked for the recipe! This is the first recipe from Sandra Lee I've tried - I think I'll buy her books now!

Too much onion
10/21/2006 at 08:10pm
User: MAGGIE from Ridgecrest, CA    User Rating:
Great flavor...just too much onion. I would use a small onion. Also this recipe makes a ton, not sure why it is labled four servings.

No flavor
10/12/2006 at 09:42pm
User: David from Bend, OR    User Rating:
I used ricotta instead of cottage cheese and it still was bland, bland, bland. The few minutes saved turned this into a cheap TV dinner quality meal.

Really, really, really BAD
10/06/2006 at 04:55pm
User: Chavez from Burnsville, MN    User Rating:
This was terrible lasagna. Tomato soup gave it no tomato flavor to speak of and made it very sweet and pink in color. My advice is don't fall for "easy" with this recipe because it just tastes so downright horrible.

Horrible

I never used to make lasagna because quite frankly it was just too much trouble, that was until I was given this recipe by my sister. It quickly became a family favorite, everybody loves it. I love to take it and share the recipe because no one can believe what it has in it and how good it tastes. I make this at least once a month for either my family or to take to a function - it never fails and always gets rave reviews. Thanks Sandra!

Surprisingly Good!

When I read the recipe and these reviews I wasnt sure I would like this, but my husband and I thought it was great. The only thing I changed was I added green pepper. We will definitly make this one again, very easy and tasty. Thanks Sandra!

I had never cooked Lasagna before in my life and I am 26. I got this recipe and it was easy to follow. It has somethings that I don't like to eat in it but you couldn't even taste them. Well All I really need to say is that a friend of my husbands come over to have some and he is 40 and he said that was the best Lasagna he had ever eaten. Thank you so much for this recipe.

This was easy to make, but with the tomato soup it gave it a flavor very similar to Stouffers store bought lasagna. My kids loved it, my husband however asked me what I did to it.

I have searched high & low for an easy lasagne & this is it..I think it's great, my co workers love it, my family loves it, my friends love it..it's a huge hit when I make it..& people come back for more...It's not bland, it's not dry..but I love flavor, flavor, flavor..& I added a half can more of tomato soup, a bit more cheese..& I've tried it w/cottage & ricotta cheese..it's great w/both..& I've even tried it w/a small pinch of all spice & WOW!!...I love this recipe.

good as leftovers too

I have made this recipe 2 times now. The second dish was much better because I used double the amount of mozz cheese and more cottage cheese. I found it to be extremely tasty as leftovers and I usually hate leftovers.

This lasagna is just amazing. At first I was kind of hesitant, however after making it, I really think it tasted better than other lasagnas. It is not oily, greasy, messy, instead it is the total opposite and filled with great flavor!

We loved the variation with the tomato soup and apple cider vinegar. It didn't taste like the normal recipes that often taste like you poured pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce in the middle. You should try this great lasagna!

The lasagne was easy to make. My 10 year old son loved it. My husband thought it was a little bland. I might try it with italian sausage next time to give it a little more flavor. I used more than 2 cups of mozarella cheese and I think that helped. The leftovers tasted better the next day.

And I don't usually like lasagne

A close friend made this for me to try...knowing I am not a fan of lasagne. Not only was the lasagne not dry like most are... but it had such flavor and a hint of sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed each bite!

I tried this with ricotta instead of cottage cheese because my mom uses cottage cheese in her recipe and i don't care for the texture or flavor. It came out a little dry, but it tasted good... my husband went back for seconds. I will definately use this recipe, with a little tweaking of the moisture content.

I tasted the meat sauce before I put the lasagna together and baked it and it was great. After it was baked it was kind of dry though. I will definitely make this again but I will add 1 or 2 more cans of soup.
