Good Pudding

This was the first time I've ever made bread pudding so I don't have anything in comparison. I thought this was a good recipe; the sauce it very tasty and compliments the pudding nicely. My father absolutely loved it and he's a tough critic - I gave him the leftovers to take home.

I used a 2 qt crock pot and it took a good 7 hours to cook and was way to much to put in a 2 qt. I did alter recipe some by using cinnamon & brown sugar oatmeal & pecans. Added extra cinnamon. It wasn't very sweet and not like normal bread pudding. I probably won't make it again. I used my normal sauce for the pudding.

very good

My brother made this for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. I'm not a big fan of raisins (which is why this only gets 4 stars), but I really enjoyed this. The sauce was very good too. I'm not familiar with whipped topping mix. I did notice my brother used whipped topping from a tub (not to mention any brand name). I cleaned the slow cooker before returning it and I let hot tap water sit in it for alittle while. Had no trouble cleaning it. I recommend this recipe.

I really loved this! I actually put it in the oven at 350 for an hour because I was using my crock pot for the rice dish. I used a whole can of apple pie filling and my family RAVED about it. More, more

Good flavor but mushy

User: Cindy from Leonardville, KS    User Rating:
We liked the flavor of the bread pudding but both felt it was too mushy, even tho I cooked it until a knife inserted in the center came out clean. Next time, I'll bake it in the oven. We really liked the dream whip/cream soda sauce! What a unique and tasty idea.

Great recipe

This was an easy and delicious recipe and the first time I was able to get my daughter to eat a dessert with raisins in it. Sandra, you're a doll and I admire you, not just for your inventiveness, but as a truly good person.

This slow-cooked, timeless classic bread pudding recipe was a slam dunk the very first time I made it. The innovative topping impressed me so much in flavor, I'm adding this desert to my Christmas fare! Don't skimp on any of the ingredients and you won't be dissappointed.

It is a good idea for preparing a bread pudding using a slow cooker, but this recipe is way too sweet for me. I would try this idea again, however I would use a different set of ingredients.

Seems that bread pudding is one thing you shouldn't make in a crockpot -- it came out super soggy and heavy as lead. The cream soda sauce is sickening sweet. Even the kids wouldn't eat it.

My husband loves bread pudding and I don't. But because I live in Southern California, with no air conditioning, great recipe to not fire up the oven. It was mushy but got raves from the men in the house! I didn't buy stuff for the sauce but instead melted some vanilla ice cream and put a little coconut rum and coffee in it and it worked great. Also forgot to by the almonds but had some chopped walnuts in my freezer, also worked out great. Would I make it again? Possibly for the men and their sweet tooths.

This was one disgusting desert

My husband caught this on TV and thought it looked so wonderful, he downloaded the recipie and went out and bought the goods for it. I had this bad, bad feeling about instant oat meal and canned apple pie filling, but went ahead and made it just to humor him. This was a baaaad, baaaad pudding. Really baaaad. He had one taste of it and the rest went in the disposal.

I was very skeptic after reading all the mix reviews, because it looks sooo easy and I love bread pudding, I decided to try it.I am so happy I did, I did not want to leave it in my house because it is just my husband and I, I brought to work today and it got rave reviews too. EVERYONE wants the recipe. I used Challah (jewish) raisin bread instead and it was not too sweet.I cooked it in the oven for eactly 1 hr @ 350 degrees in 13x9 baking dish and it was perfect. I skipped the sauce, I served with fat free cool whip instead(in my mind I was saving on the calories). This is HIT!!!!!!

User: Tess from Westerville, OH    User Rating:
Love this recipe! Bread pudding is one of my husband's favorite desserts and he couldn't get enough of this! BUT do make sure and keep a close eye on it. I've made it twice & both times it was done in about 1 hour 45 minutes and when it's done, it's done. It very quickly gets overdone and sticks. However, even if it does that is only the sides and the rest is great.

I thought this was a easy good recipe! My family enjoyed eating this! I used 2cups heavy cream & 1cup milk. It took about 2 hrs 45 minutes for it to be cooked all the way through. It was not too sweet. For the topping I did not not have cream soda so I used milk instead & it was very good. It did stick to the crock pot on one side, but it was not terrible to clean. I will make it again!!
