Now I agree with the other's. It is sweet and that is very different, but I put more hot sauce on it like the other's also said and it made it very good. I also liked the texture a whole lot. All in all very good recipe

The chicken on the inside was good, after we peeled away the "breading". It seemed like the batter just soaked up all of the oil. It never got crispy, it stayed soft, and somewhat mushy.

When I started to mixing the batter, I realized that I had NO hot sause! That totally changed everything, but it stilled worked. This recipe can be tweeked, changed, and altered to the cookers fancy and that's what makes it so fun. My chicken turned out Great and I will totally make it again.

i made this for dinner the other night and my family and i really enjoyed it. a lot of the "30 minute" recipes seem to take much longer but this really was quick. i followed some of the other reviews and put more water in the batter to thin it out and more seasoning in it too. we also dipped ours in store bought buffalo sauce, yummy!

My wife and I tried this recipe and found that we could not get the chicken hot (spicy) enough, and it was also too greasy. As I went through the batches, I kept adding hot sauce to the chicken and the batter, but still no luck. This wasn't one of our favorites.

The best recipe I have made in a while. If you are looking for a great thing to eat while watching the game, TRY THIS! It is kid-approved with one critique, make sure you drench it in hot sauce. This easy recipe is also quick to make and delicious. This will surely become a family favorite.

Really quick to make, but i think next time i will soak the chicken in the marinade for a couple of hours. Also i will make up my own 'hot sauce'. Batter was really light and crispy which was suprising.

We liked them very much, they had great flavor and were "Fun", however, I found them to be very messy while making them. And quite greasy, however, that may have been my fault (Oil not hot enough ?) I'll try them again, but also maybe with a deep fryer, not in a pan.

My husband loved this recipe so much he requested I make these chicken bites for our upcoming Super Bowl party. I did some things differently, though. I added Tabasco sauce to the chicken before I dipped the pieces into the batter to make them spicier and to cut down on the sweetness from the pancake mix. I then dabbed each batch of fried chicken with a paper towel after I removed them from the oil so they wouldn't be so greasy.

i made these for a girls night i had at my appartment while my boyfriend was going over his brothers house they came out delicious and he wound up eating most of them before my friends came over! if you like it spicier try using some dried cayanne pepper to the dry dipping batter before dredging them in the wet it worked for me!

This recipe was delicious. I used buffalo wing sauce instead of hot sauce and it came out great. Also, marinated chicken in wing sauce for a couple of hours. Made this with Mashed super skins with steak and pepper hash, which was also delicious. The only thing was its not a 30 minute meal, took more like an hour, even after preparing meats ahead of time.
How much more could I love chicken?

I absolutely loved this recipe. I have in the past dabbled in trying to cook things using pancake batter. One time specifically I used it to make something like a corndog without the corn meal. The result was nearly the same, delicious but a little too greasy. I just wonder if there is a better way I can cook these, if maybe the temperature in my oil was off and if there is a way to prevent them from sticking to the metal basket. I'm actually going to make these again tonight for my son because I know he is going to love them. I am going to try frying them in a pot on the stove or leaving the basket out of my fryer.

I was a little worried about the hot sauce at first, since I have 2y/o daughter. Buuutttt... the hot sauce actualy was not for the heat, it was only for giving extra flavor, extra yummyness!! The only thing I did wrong was adding salt to the chicken before frying. I think in this dish you don't need salt at all, since you get all the flavoring from the pancake mix & hot sauce. Mine wasn't taste sweet at all or taste like doghnut with chicken at all!

I made these for my family (husband, father and 2 yr old son) and everyone loved them. I did season the chicken and batter with seasoning salt, garlic powder, celery salt and lemon pepper seasoning and I used potato pancake mix for 1 cup of the pancake mix. Also, I used regular flour for the chicken, pre-batter.

First things first, this took WAY longer to make than the recipe said. I spent more than an hour battering and frying this chicken. It was a ton of effort to make, but in it's favor, it was pretty good. It wasn't great, and it definately wasn't spicy, but it was good. I will not be making it again though, much to the disappointment of my friends I made it for.

I made a mess making this meal but it was worth it. The batter comes out really crispy and the hot sauce adds flavor. You cannot feel the heat, even if you add a lot of hot sauce.

This recipe is excellent and the variations for it are infinite. The battered spicyness of these little bites are superb, but I thought..what about deep fry them in a rich buttermilk batter, same process. I made these little guys for a family reunion and they were the first to go, plus without the overwhelming spice the kids could really, really enjoy them.

This recipe turned out wonderful, although after fryin the popcorn chicken I found the was no where near enough flavor. So, I took a large mixing bowl filled the bottom with the same hot sause i used in the recipe put the finished chicken in the bowl covered and tosted untill the chicken was evenly coated in hot sause, dip them in ranch dressing and yummmmm full of flavor. I also put some a side and tosted them in BBQ sause for the little kids, like I said a HIT!

I have always been a fan of 30 minute meals. This recipe is one of the reasons why. It was simple to make and clean up wasn't too bad either. However, I did think that it wasn't really buffalo style bites. I thought the pancake batter added a little too much sweetness and took away from the kick of the buffalo taste. I would expect buffalo bites to be more spicy. Maybe adding a brush of hot sauce over the chicken at the end would do the trick. Other than the sweetness, the recipe and meal were both excellent!

After reading the reviews, I began by adding twice as much hot sauce and it was still mild in relation to Buffalo wing flavor. When frying, the bites would not stay flipped over when I turned them, so they were golden brown on one side and sort of doughy on the other. My family liked them and would like to have them again. These are better than the boneless wings at sports bars!

This recipe was easy to make but once I had eaten it I was very disappointed to find that all it tasted like was pancakes with chicken inside. After the first batch I doubled the hot sauce and it still didn?t have any spice to it. I do not recommend this to someone looking for what they would find at a bar.

This recipe was lacking flavor. It is easy and simple to prepare and I did like the idea of the pancake batter, however, there is just no flavor to the chicken without the blue cheese dressing. I will try it again and next time I will add seasoning to the batter and lots more hot sauce, because the amount in the recipe had no heat at all and I don't even care for spicy foods. By the way the chives in the Blue cheese dressing was very good.

I shoulda known better but I was craving buffalo chicken wings but wanted something faster...big mistake! I shoulda ordered takeout instead. The batter was too thick and the chicken wasn't spicy and worst the pancake batter totally absorbed the oil. It was disgusting.

This was okay, but I prefer a light fritter batter instead, which is so easy and comes out light and crisp. It's just 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 egg, and 1/8 cup oil, dip pieces and fry. Simple enough, but love your other ideas Rachael!

Rachael Ray has long been a favorite Food Network chef of mine. Her ability to slim down and shorten cooking times for great food is phenomenal. This version of a classic bar favorite is no different. The batter is sweet and light, not heavy. You actually eat less quantity because of the breading, making it a great splurge from a diet. I made the equivalent of 4 chicken tenders for my husband and I, a normal serving from a restaurant, correct? We have at least half of the chicken left and are full with no side dishes (only dessert). I recently had my gall bladder removed, and can't tolerate most deep-fried foods. I was quite skeptical to try this, to be honest! I drained the chicken bites twice, on two plates of paper towels before serving them. This eliminated enough grease to not make me sick, and I will definitely try this batter on other meats - maybe leave out the tabasco and use the plain batter in making sweet and sour chicken...hmmm... Well done as usual, Rachael. Keep these recipes coming!

I made this tonight to watch the football game(Patriots!) and it came out great. Even though I goofed a bit. First, I didn't have pancake mix so I used Bisquick and added a bit of sugar. Also I didn't add enough hot sauce. It's been about a week since I watched the episode, so it wasn't fresh in my mind! Then, I dipped the chicken in the batter first and the dry mix second. BUT, even though it was not as spicy as I would like, it came out light as anything and delicious! If my 16 year old son liked it, it had to be good!

I made this recipe with 2 chicken breasts (what I had on hand) and it made a ton of chicken bites! It was so tasty! I used the amount of tabasco that is listed in the recipe and it wasn't all that spicy. My husband has no tolerance for spicy foods, and he couldn't stop eating them! Definitely a keeper!

I ended up having to throw this out. Thankfully, I had my husband taste it after I had only cooked the first batch, so I didn't waste too much chicken. I don't eat chicken, however, I was making this for a house full of my husband's football buddies on New Year's Day. He said it tasted like a greasy pancake wrapped around a piece of chicken. So I opted to not offer it to my guests. Made the steak and pepper hash instead, which was awesome!

I made this chicken for a New Years eve party and I made both with hot sauce and without and they were fun, easy and better than any Chinese chicken finger I have ever had. They were the hit of the party.

My whole family loved this chicken. It was quick and easy and fun to do together. But, Rachel doesn't add enough hot sauce for our tastes! If you like things spicy - add a lot more hot sauce. You can't go wrong!

I made these for some friends one night and they couldn't get enough of them. Since that night, not only myself, but my friend has even made them again. They are delicious and very easy to make. I keep getting requests to make them more often. I recommend these for entertaining friends or just for any night of the week. Everyone will LOVE them.

This was great. Easy to prepare and cook and the batter was just so light. I didn't use as much hot sauce as recommended because of the heat. Will make this over & over and my grandkids are going to love it when I make it for Christmas snacks.

This recipe was good, but we were barely able to eat a 1/4 of it.... The bites are very doughy, so it packs a bigger satisfaction punch than one might expect.... This would have been great for a party, the chicken goes a long way.

I love this recipe for something fast that doesn't require a lot of ingredients. And don't be shy on the hot sauce! I'm not a "spicy" person and the amount called for in the recipe was perfect. My kids also love this -- I just cut up some of the chicken into more bite-sized pieces for them to handle. Make sure they have cooled all the way before serving them to the wee ones, though!

This recipe is a bit more time consumming, but is very worth it! I have made these twice, once as a potluck and once for Monday night football. They got rave reviews at both. People said they were better than buffalo wild wings! I did add more hot sauce the second time, it was good flavor and not spicey at all.

I thought the hot sauce would make this hot but it was mild, next time I will add more to have a little kick. My husband loved it, I made a meal out of it with mashed potatoes and celery sticks. It was great. I will make this again real soon.

I couldnt wait to make this recipe, I love chix wings! I wasnt disappointed, they were yummy. Who would have thought to use pancake mix, but what a great batter. If you like them HOT, you do need to use more hot sauce than you would think, just like Rachel said, the sweetness of the pancake mix really counteracts the heat. Make them and enjoy!

This recipe was a pleasant surprise: the bites are flavorful (though not terribly hot) and juicy, and the pancake batter adds only a faint sweetness--a nice contrast to the slight peppery taste. I used Jim Beam hot sauce, which had a lovely smoky quality.

It was kind of sloppy to make. It really is not as hot and spicy as i thought it would be. I used Tabasco sauce like the internet said. My family didn't like it that much. Maybe when i get better at making it, it will taste better. I guess i used the wrong complete pancake mix.

I tried these at a recent (last Night) marina bash. They were a great hit and people couldn't stay away from them. I used skinless, boneless breasts for slightly larger pieces, Tabasco sauce Added a couple of extra teaspones to the batter mix because we like 'em hot and had a bluecheese dip with celery next to the Buffalo Chicken. They flew off the plate like they had wings!

I made this for myself and my husband, and we both enjoyed it greatly! My husband makes his own hot sauce, so we used that...and used 10 tsp in the batter, and used 1/2 cup of it for the chicken bath. I am not a fan of spicy foods, but I really enjoyed this a lot. My husband actually said he would prefer this over take out wings any time(and he LOVES wings). Ours were not greasy at all, which is good, as I am not a fan of greasy foods. This was great, good job Rachel!
