Very good. 11/05/2005 at 10:30pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I subbed bacon for the chorizo, because my husband doesn't like it. The rum smelled very strong at first, but it mellowed. Good flavors. I didn't need to add more broth. The best beans ever!!!! 07/31/2007 at 11:04am User: Erin from Alexandria, VA User Rating: I was given the Bobby Flay cookbook as a gift and came across this recipe. I made it for a bbq and ever since then everyone has begged me to make it for every other get together. The flavors mesh really well together and put a new spin on the standard baked beans. The cilantro it a MUST, it makes the dish! I would recommend going easy on the chicken broth, it calls for 3 cups. The first time I made it I followed the directions to a tee and found that the liquids took forever to cook off. I would use closer to 1 1/2 - 2 cups and you may still have to cook it longer than it says. It's easy to make and well worth it...your guests will rave about it! South Texas 04/14/2008 at 11:11am User: Anonymous User Rating: Two thumbs down! Good, but too much liquid 02/24/2008 at 04:29pm User: Jennifer from Whitestone, NY User Rating: These beans were a hit with a smoked pork meal. I agree with the other reviewers that 3 cups of broth was too much. Way too much liquid, even after cooking them for well over 1 1/2 hrs in a dutch oven. |
