I always find Mr Flays recipes easy to use. this rub was even liked by my father who is not a " beef " fan. The coffee flavor comes through but is not over powering. Prep was easy so it can be made after working all day.

My wife and I had our first grandchild today. The previous week we saw Bobby create this coffee rub for his 2" ribeye. To celebrate the addition to our family we tried this Coffee Rubbed Ribeye. At first I was skeptical about the coffee. We had some espresso grounds, so we pulverized them in a spice grinder. 4 minutes on the coffee side was perfect. My only regret with this recipe is that we did not rub the steak on BOTH sides! This steak is suburb! Give this a try...YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED.

The recipe makes you make WAY too much rub but other than that, it is really nice. The coffee adds a nice flavor. I made this for a celebratory dinner and everyone loved it.

Thank you so much...

Thanks Bobby for a great recipe. I had never cooked steak before. It was easy and tastes great. I had a blast cooking it with my family. I'll definitely be using this recipe again.

smokehouse not steakhouse

I'm glad other folks had such good luck with this recipe, but my experience was poor. The rub quickly burned on the hot cast iron and filled my house with smoke -- the smoke of burned peppers which is NOT good to breathe. In the end I scraped the burned rub off and enjoyed the remains of my steak...

Awesome

This rub had a great tex-mex flare to it, but I think we hoped for the flavor of the coffee to come through a little more. Next time, I think we'll tinker with the recipe a little.

Best steaks we've ever had. Searing and the oven thing are the keys to getting the juiciest steaks possible.

My husband is a bit picky about his steaks. I used this recipe, and we both LOVED IT! He has gone overseas to work and has bragged about it to all the other guys. He says now that he CRAVES it. THANK YOU!

I thought the reciept was wonderful. The only suggestions that I would make is to decrease the thickness of the steak.

Great recipe. It was easy to find Bobby's ethnic ingredients at Whole Foods- all the chiles etc ! Made it on a grill pan indoors and it was wonderful. http://sherribraude.blogspot.com

I detest coffee. I hate the aroma of it brewing as much as I hate the horrible taste, but I was encouraged to try this recipie by my husband who loves coffee enough for the both of us. I must admit.. I loved the flavor it gave the meat. It was great! This is a keeper!

This has quickly become my familys favorite recipe. I keep the coffee rub in the pantry and use this all the time. I am spoiled how easy this is and quick to do. We have steaks now even when it rains and I cant go outside and grill........

Bobby, What are we made of, gold? I had more than half the rub left over at the end of this. Do the math before hand--in the end you only use 4 tbsp. THat's the volume equivilant of parika and br. sugar alone. If I'm going to drop the bucks on ribeye I'm not going to have money left over for wasting spices.

I consider this rub a staple in my house. It adds a wonderful flavor to any cut and a beautiful caramel coloring. I have used it on NY, TriTip, and Porterhouse so far. I love to serve it and follow up with a Chocolate cake flavored lightly with coffee, then drizzled with melted chocolate and chocolate shavings.

Too much Smoke flavor
05/09/2006 at 10:51am

My rating is all based on the only Spanish Paprika I can find... it is Smoked and the smokey flavor overpowered all the other spices in the rub. Lots of left-over rub made of expensive spices and I won't use it again because of the Smoke flavor. Did anyone find a non-smoked Spanish Paprika?

Although I found that you didn't need 1/4 of the rub called for this recipe, I've put the rub in the freezer and have already used it for a second time. Excellent accompanyment to a great steak, not overpowering. You will not regret making this recipe. Tastes great on Chops too!

This entire meal was delicious! My guests gushed over the meal and simply said WOW! The carmelized small onions are a must, they are incredible and worth the extra work! Great for presentation too! I will never have creamed spinach again, kale reigns supreme!

This is a great alternative to any "ordinary" steak dinner,it is very easy to make and it can be served with so many different sides. I varied the spiciness by altering the quantities of the ingredients to suit different tastes. Delicious

Great to have on hand!

This was a delicious alternative to the premade spices found at the grocery we've been using over and over. The extra rub went into an empty spice jar, but that didn't last long either! Great flavor, and the ingredients can be found in the ethnic section really cheap here (So Cal). Love the spice!

Yum
