Very good 07/02/2008 at 11:22pm User: Zahra from Fresno, CA User Rating: I followed the the recipie to letters But added more salt and sugar, i used a little sugar to bring the sweetness of the apples more. My husband and i liked it, i will make it again but about long but its not a recpie you will want to make very often, the meal have a a little sweet creamy light taste to it so if you like many seasoning in food this is definatly not something for you. Its a special meal and either you like it or you hate it. TERRIBLE! 07/02/2008 at 05:24pm User: Anonymous User Rating: It was a messy tasteless MUSH. ICK. Crock Pot Favorite 06/14/2008 at 11:53pm User: Jennifer from chandler, AZ User Rating: Living in Chandler (Phoenix), AZ, I am a big fan of slow cooker dishes, especially during the summer. This is a good dish for a small crowd and I would definitely make it again. Using Granny Smith apples makes it not too sweet. I might add a little garlic to the mix next time; it goes well with a salad and bread. Great Recipe.. just a little fix 05/13/2008 at 05:04pm User: null from null, null User Rating: This chicken rocks! I used red apples and left the skins on so that the apples wouldn't fall apart. I also used bone-in SKINLESS chicken thighs. While it was cooking I left the tops of the thighs meaty side up and slightly above the liquid, this allowed the flavor to intensify on the chicken. I served it with Jasmine rice, which was the perfect compliment to the light flavors of the chicken and apples. My whole family loved this meal!!! Wonderful busy mom/wife dish 05/09/2008 at 12:07am User: Heidi from Porter, IN User Rating: I love my slow cooker and this recipe reminds my why. The only different things I did was I used chicken breast and I didn't have rosemary so I may have altered the taste a bit. I also added sage and thyme because I just can't cook with celery without adding these great spices. I served this with brown rice and my entire family LOVED it! It smelled like holiday-time in my house! Healthy but Boring 05/06/2008 at 07:32pm User: Patrick from Syracuse, NY User Rating: I did not like this recipe at all. It was much too bland, the consistency was like mush, and the chicken and apples didn't work together very well. I am disappointed. Good recipe with tweaking 05/02/2008 at 11:51pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I used boneless and skinless and only cooked for 4 hours on low. Definetely add more apples and less onions. Made the house smell nice... 04/29/2008 at 11:47am User: Rachel from Eden Prairie, MN User Rating: This was very easy to prepare. However, it was BLAND BLAND BLAND!! I served the chicken with rice like mentioned, maybe next time I'll find a way to layer in more flavors. Crock full of mush 04/24/2008 at 09:40pm User: Shannon from Antioch, CA User Rating: It sound sweet and savory, I was a little hesitant about the apples and for the length it was to be cooked.I had also read a few reviews before that werent so good but decided to give it a try.Wow what a dissapointment, followed exact directions. I have to say this is one of the worst meals i have ever seen or tasted, only if your absolutly starving never again will i cook this. easy and delicious 04/11/2008 at 02:14pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My entire family enjoyed this recipee. It is super simple to make and very tasty!! Easy and Tasty! 04/09/2008 at 12:14pm User: Liz from Brambleton, VA User Rating: I'm not a good cook so I started looking for slow cooker recipes that wouldn't take up a lot of my time. This is a good one. I used boneless skinless chicken breasts instead of bone-in and it was just as delicious. The chicken was the most tender I've ever had! Very good! 03/31/2008 at 02:25pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Try it! So YUMMY!!!!! 03/15/2008 at 11:31pm User: Holly from Pinellas Park, FL User Rating: I just bought a slow-cooker today, and I wanted to use it right away. I did a search and found this recipe. I loved it!!!!!!!!! Easy to make, and the flavors are just amazing!!!!! Even my very picky 9 year old loved it!!!! Thank you!!!!! Very Good 03/12/2008 at 11:31pm User: Nikole from San Diego, CA User Rating: The chicken had a light, sweet flavor to it. I used red apples and left the skins on. The fresh rosemary really left a good flavor. My family loved it. Just OK 03/11/2008 at 08:49pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Nothing very exciting. Just OK on taste and kinda mussy on texture. Probally would not make again. Delicious 03/10/2008 at 09:58pm User: Tracie from Orange Park, FL User Rating: After reading the reviews, I decided to make a couple of minor additions for extra flavor. I added some garlic and ginger(bought the squeeze tubes) as well as about 4oz. of heavy cream. Cooked the longer time frame and it was great!! Very easy to make and tastes delicious! Skip this one 03/03/2008 at 01:05pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The chicken tasted ok, but the apples turned into mush. The flavor was a little odd as well. I read the other reviews and didnt believe them, but this is a skipper. Absolutely Delish 03/01/2008 at 07:16pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was amazing, well worth the expense of the fresh rosemary. The apples disappeared in the cooking process and gave the sauce such body! Nice flavor 02/18/2008 at 08:04pm User: Betty from Minot AFB, ND User Rating: This recipe was very easy to make. The chicken was moist and tender. The apples and onions did come out too mushy to eat but those flavors were a nice addition to the sauce. Mushy! 02/17/2008 at 08:05pm User: Victoria from Buena Park, CA User Rating: The flavor of this dish was find, but the apples and onions turned to mush. And the meal came out very beige and pretty unappetizing. delicious 02/12/2008 at 09:49am User: Tracy from washington, DC User Rating: My boyfriend and i just moved in together over Thanksgiving. We both have busy schedules but he does so much for me that I make a huge effort to have a home cooked meal for him most nights during the week. I purchased a slow cooker to accomplish this goal. I make big meals on the weekend that can be eaten throughout the week. This recipe was so delicious. Of course I added some of my own personal touches, like tons of garlic. I tried to get him to help by peeling the apples but he has never peeled anything before. That was funny. Some things us girls have to do ourselves if we want it done right. This was a perfect recipe and very yummy. A slight variation 02/08/2008 at 09:39pm User: marquita from sherwood, OR User Rating: After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant about making this dish. I didn't want to dislike it because it sounded so delicious. So I put my thinking cap on and came up with this variation...I seasoned the chicken w salt/pepper (to my liking) prior to putting them in the s.cooker. Instead of using 1 cup of Chicken Broth...I used Apple Juice, and instead of using 1/2 cup of Cream of Celery...I used Cream of Chicken. I reduced the rosemary to a tablespoon so that it didn't overpower the chicken. Now as I was eating this meal I appreciated how soft the flavors were. Everyone says this recipe is bland and needs more spices. NO...You have to realize that this isn't supposed to be a heavily flavored dish. It's supposed to be light and delicate. **Revised Version - A HIT!! 01/30/2008 at 11:29am User: Pamela from Draper, UT User Rating: Ok, after reading all the reviews and reading the ingredients list I decided to make a few modifications to this recipe & it turned out FABULOUS! My family devoured it! I used 2 large granny smith apples peeled & quartered. (They tend to not get mushy) 5 boneless/skinless chicken breasts Added the following ingredients: 2 Sweet Potatoes/yams cut into large cubes 4 stalks celery cut into large pieces 4-5 cloves minced or chopped garlic 1 T. Fresh thyme chopped 1 T. Fresh Sage chopped Instead of using the chicken broth & cream of celery soup, I used 1 c. white wine instead. Cook on HIGH for 4 - 4 1/2 hours. Scoop out juice into a saucepan, heat to boiling on stove & add 1/8 t. - 1/4 t. cinnamon. Thicken with cornstarch & water mixture (approx. 1 T. cornstarch to 1/2 c. hot water). Serve with chicken & vegetable/fruit mixture. I am telling you, my family devoured it and wanted more after we were done (I cooked 5 chicken breasts for a family of 4 and it wasn't enough! Nothing special 01/27/2008 at 03:48pm User: Erin from Indianapolis, IN User Rating: This recipe seems to be missing a lot. So little flavor. After reading similar reviews, I added more of pretty much everything (herb-wise) for more flavor, and it didn't help. The apples and onions were inedible, they were so mushy. If we made this again, I would change pretty much everything. A miss. Tasty and easy! 01/24/2008 at 12:10pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Thank you for this recipe! Great Aroma 01/21/2008 at 11:12am User: Kate from Newark, DE User Rating: Easy to prepare, great aroma, tasty. The only thing i would like to change is the onions are kind of mushy and that the chicken could use a little more kick, but other then that its great and my boyfriend LOVES it. Tasteless 01/18/2008 at 10:23am User: LISA from St. Clairsville, OH User Rating: This smelled so good while it cooked. What a shame because it was actually tasteless. The chicken just tasted like chicken. NO flavor. I guess if you enjoy the taste of unseasoned plain chicken this would be good, but not for me. The apples turned to mush but the sauce and apples and onions weren't bad over the rice. My husband actually enjoyed it. He will tell me if a new recipe is worth making again. My kids wouldn't touch the chicken and they love chicken. I guess it all depends on how much you like bland food. Yummy with a Pork Roast 01/14/2008 at 04:38pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I used this as a base recipe for a slow cooker pork roast. I added some potatoes, but everything else was the same. I cooked it on the long end (~8 hours on low) because I had more meat than called for in this recipe (had to have leftovers for pulled pork sandwiches). The meat was so tender and flavorful. The rosemary actually stuck with the meat and could still be tasted through the bbq sauce of the pulled pork dish. I will definitely make this again. Good but not Wow 01/05/2008 at 09:29pm User: V from Richmond, CA User Rating: The apples really save this dish. The chicken comes out kinda tasteless (not a bad taste, just like it needs something), so when you take a bite of chicken with a bite of apple on the same fork it tastes very yummy. Chicken barely done at 8 hours on low, so kept it on low for another 30 minutes just to be sure. Great Dish! 01/04/2008 at 11:45am User: Celeste from Trussville, AL User Rating: I made this a few days ago. It turned out delicious. In fact, I've added it to my food blog (with a pic)...here's the link: http://sugarandspice-celeste.blogspot.com/2008/01/slow-cooker-chicken-with-rosemary.html The rosemary added a nice flavor and made the entire house smell very inviting. The chicken fell right off of the bone. We made some yummy sandwiches with the leftover chicken...topped with shredded mozarella cheese. First Slow Cooked Meal 12/30/2007 at 09:07pm User: Gregory from New York, NY User Rating: Just received a slow cooker for Christmas and decided to put some recipes on Food Network's website to use. I used this recipe as my first. Food was really good, the liquid was amazing. Wish the chicken was a quite bit more seasoned, but overall good meal. I can't wait to make more slow cooker recipes! :) bigger slices maybe? 12/28/2007 at 02:34am User: Anonymous User Rating: Apples & onions were too mushy. Great w/a few additions 12/27/2007 at 02:35pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is a great base recipe. I added garlic and sliced fennel, then a TINY bit of cream in the end - it was delicious. Leftovers were terrific is a pot pie!! Thank you! change it up 12/07/2007 at 02:12pm User: LAUREN from Boston, MA User Rating: I took 2 bone-in chicken breasts with the skin on them and placed them in the bottom of the crock pot. i seasoned them, added 1 cup of chicken broth, a buillon cube, bay leaves, rosemary, onion, celery, carrots, and potatoes. I seasoned the rest of the mixture, keeping a heavier hand on the salt especially because over time it disappears. I added two Granny Smith apples and one red apple 30 minutes before the end and it came out savory and perfect. Skip the cream of celery - 1 cup of liquid is more than enough for any crock pot recipe. Family Favorite 11/24/2007 at 06:55pm User: Steph from Coralville, IA User Rating: When we come home from a long day to this meal waiting for us, we all get really excited. It has a unique, savory flavor that we all love. Delicious! 11/19/2007 at 12:27am User: Anonymous User Rating: One of my favorite meals! Easy, healthy and always hits the spot. Can be eaten as a soup too! 11/12/2007 at 09:58am User: Nicole from Cumming, GA User Rating: I really enjoy this meal for three reasons: it's healthy, it's EASY, and it's really tasty. I am not much of a cook but I have no problem with this recipe! I prefer to eat it as a soup instead of over rice, as I am steering away from overloading on carbs. I also choose to use boneless, skinless chicken breast and I feel it is still very tasty! Sorta Boring... 11/10/2007 at 12:36pm User: Christina from Waterford, MI User Rating: This recipe was just okay, I don't know what happened to the apples, they disappeared. The sauce didn't seem to take on any of the apple flavors. I added a cup of white wine too for extra flavor. At the end, I added a little all spice and that seemed to help with the flavor a little but I think it may have done better with one or two more apples. Too many onions! 11/04/2007 at 10:26am User: Anonymous User Rating: I would cut the amount of onions by half, but overall the flavors in this recipe did not meld together and was almost inedible. I do not recommend! Disappointing 11/01/2007 at 09:12am User: Anonymous User Rating: We were disappointed to find that this recipe turned out tasting almost solely of rosemary, with no depth of flavor from the other ingredients. Worst slow cooker recipe ever 10/30/2007 at 03:16pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I followed this recipe to the letter but the combination of apples, onions and rosemary was horrible. Even my husband who eats almost anything refused to eat it. I had to throw the whole thing out. Barely Palatable 10/24/2007 at 07:48pm User: Georgia from Lockport, IL User Rating: Tasteless and watery, apples were mushy and chicken was bland. Will NOT make again. The kids will like it 10/20/2007 at 05:47pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Not at all an overpowering flavor; good for kids who seem to be picky eaters. For adults: add some flavor! Garlic, bay leaf, anything. good slow cooker recipe 10/19/2007 at 06:51pm User: kelly and keith from paducah, KY User Rating: I made this recipe for tonights dinner and it was one of the best recipes i have ever had. i cut back the onion to a half of onion and added two apples and it was sooo tender it fell off the bone of the chicken breasts when i took it out of the crock pot. I also added 1/2 cup of cream of chicken soup instead of celery soup and it made it good, i also added the other 1/2 can of cream of chicken soup to the rice i made along with 2 1/2 cups of chicken stock when i made the rice and it was absolutely delicious and complimented the dish very well.. thank u for the wonderful recipe... Chicken with rosemary, apples, and onions 10/10/2007 at 05:48pm User: Melissa from killeen, TX User Rating: I love this recipe. It is so easy to make and I love the flavor of the apples with the chicken, very good! didn't love it, didn't hate it 10/09/2007 at 07:58pm User: Tianna from Brentwoodd, TN User Rating: I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. It made a lot and was SUPER easy to make but needed extra spice. Will make it again BUT will have to add a bunch more flavor and spice it up a bit. The rosemary, apples, and onions were nice in the CP though. Thanks bland 09/26/2007 at 09:29am User: Anonymous User Rating: my husband who usually does not offer compliants about my cooking said "how is it possible that you have cooked out all of the flavor from an apple Not very good 09/12/2007 at 11:04pm User: Clinton from Fremont, CA User Rating: I made the recipe as instructed, followed all the directions, and can see the idea behind the dish...however, I only could bring myself to eat one serving, and the rest of the people dining didn't like it at all either. Consistency was off-putting, as was the texture and overall flavor. Tasty 08/29/2007 at 04:31pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Nice flavors with tender chicken. Mushy Chicken No taste 08/27/2007 at 01:55pm User: Marg from Henderson, NV User Rating: Don't bother with this one. yummy, very tender 08/09/2007 at 03:28pm User: Anonymous User Rating: It tastes great and the chicken is very tender. It doesn't present well, but that's because it's a slow cooker meal and presentation is not really that important as long as it tastes good. Uses easy, low cost ingredients. Tasty! 08/09/2007 at 01:58pm User: tracy from lakeside, CA User Rating: This dish is easy and tasty! The chicken was so tender it fell right off the bone. The only thing I didn't like was the apples after they were cooked. But just serve the chicken and some juice right over rice. A good idea, but... 07/22/2007 at 01:02pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I was careful to read other reviewers' comments and use their flavor suggestions even before making this dish myself, and it still turned out really bland. I ended up throwing it away because even with spice and flavoring additions, I was unable to doctor the chicken into making it palatable. The chicken was tender, but that was really the only positive thing about this dish. Comfort Food 07/06/2007 at 07:01pm User: Diana from Kearneysville, WV User Rating: This was a nice slow cooker meal. My husband and I enjoyed it very much. The house smelled so good all day long. It would make a nice meal on a chilly fall or winter day. We made the zucchini as well and that was delish too. We'll definitely make this again. Okay 06/30/2007 at 02:13pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Would have again, but not often. Wonderful! 06/29/2007 at 04:31pm User: Stacy from Mooreland, OK User Rating: Even my kids liked this meal. It was so easy to prepare that I have incorporated it into our "usual" dinners. The whole family loved it! 06/12/2007 at 05:46pm User: Tammy from Chandler, AZ User Rating: Living in Arizona in the summer tends to slow (if not completely stop) your desire to cook in the kitchen. I am always looking for some great crock-pot recipes that allow me to serve a delicious, hearty meal to my family without heating up the house. This chicken was perfect! I loved the flavor the apples and rosmary added and the chicken was moist and delicious! Quick and Easy 05/17/2007 at 05:39pm User: Sally from Morehead City, NC User Rating: We, both my husband and myself like this recipe. I was not sure about the chicken being fit to eat but boy was it good! apple & chicken 05/16/2007 at 05:17am User: lada from burling, VT User Rating: apple & chicken delicious 05/10/2007 at 04:24pm User: Ann from Eyota, MN User Rating: The taste was amazing. Rosemary Chicken YUM!! 05/09/2007 at 09:32pm User: Cindy from Fircrest, WA User Rating: My family really liked this. The chicken was a bit blan so maybe use more spices. The BIG surprise was how wonderful the apples and sauce was over the rice! My entire family got seconds!!! Good taste 05/07/2007 at 02:12am User: Melisa from HONOLULU, HI User Rating: I found this recipe to be good and tasty. Junk 05/03/2007 at 09:54pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Bad combination of ingredients. Apples, onions and rosemary is not a good mesh of items. The finished dish looked very unappetizing. I also have a concern that she did not wash any of her produce or meat, which I have health concerns over. Bad Combination 05/03/2007 at 09:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The combination of apple, onions , and rosemary is not favorable. Health Concerns surrounding not wasjing produce or meat. The presentation of this this dish was unappealing. Wet and flavorless 04/18/2007 at 02:43am User: Anonymous User Rating: Being a fan of the flavor of rosemary, this dish sounded delicious. It turned out wet, soupy and utterly flavorless, with very dry breast meat. Only the soggy bland thighs were edible. WOW 04/11/2007 at 01:43pm User: julie from Lebanon, IL User Rating: if I had to use one word to describe this meal it would be WOW. It was very easy to prepare and it was full of flavor. Every bite was like a party in my mouth. My husband wanted to soak up the juice on his plate with a biscuit. Thank you for this easy and flavorful recipe. WONDERFUL 03/31/2007 at 10:52pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is so easy and the most delightful unexpected taste. the combination between the apples and the onions and all the other flavors is unlike anything you have ever tasted. Robin Miller is the best!! Great dinner to come home to! 03/26/2007 at 03:00pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was great, and left my home with such a wonderful aroma. The flavors work really well together and it tastes even better the next day! Very, very bland 03/19/2007 at 05:56pm User: jesica from Nine Mile Falls, WA User Rating: Made this recipe but I think I cooked it too long in the crockpot (8 hours) because the apples were mashed/soggy and they did not taste like apples. The sauce made with the can soup and chicken broth ended up too watery and flavorless. I love chicken, onions and apples but this recipe was too bland for us. Sorry! awful vegetables 03/15/2007 at 09:33am User: Anita from Clovis, CA User Rating: The vegetables were awful. Texture was mushy and the flavor was bad. Chicken was ok but not great. I threw out the vegetables and hope to do something with the leftover chicken so they don't go to waste. Very delicious 03/14/2007 at 11:18pm User: Anonymous User Rating: very tasty Slow Cooker Chicken 03/13/2007 at 01:48am User: Nancy Lynn from Anchorage, AK User Rating: This recipe was okay and the flavors blended well, but the final reult was pretty ordinary. I probably won't make this again. like this not so much 03/11/2007 at 08:55am User: Roxie from East Wenatchee, WA User Rating: Easy prep; but flavor missing (had to re-flavor quite a bit after cooking). Also had to thicken sauce to eat. Not a winner as is. eh 03/10/2007 at 07:40pm User: Shiloh from Garner, NC User Rating: I won't make this again...the chicken looked overcooked and distasteful even though it wasn't. It was an ugly meal. Good but tasteless 03/10/2007 at 10:13am User: Allison from Gainesville, FL User Rating: I wanted to try something new as I love my slow cooker. The chicken was moist and fell off the bones, but this recipe was truely tasteless. OK, but??? 03/07/2007 at 04:37pm User: Claire from Lewiston, ME User Rating: Apples too mushy, should've been quartered, not sliced. Needed more taste. VERY good! 03/06/2007 at 10:07pm User: Chelsea from Norman, OK User Rating: The chicken was SO tender! My hubby and I loved the subtle sweetness of the apples! This dish is also very good for our tight student budget! It is a wonderful, cheap, easy and tasty dish! Deffanitly a repeat in my house! not very tasty 03/06/2007 at 09:28am User: Anonymous User Rating: after reading the other reviews, i doubled the soup, thinking that would help. first, i agree with the others, it was a glarpy, unattractive mess. the apples were not tasty because the chicken just didn't impart enough flavor on them; the liquid was soupy. we felt that the chicken was overcooked while the onions and apples were just barely done. i've made a similar recipe with browned pork ribs which is delicious but this one just didn't work. Interestingly different 03/05/2007 at 01:49pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is the first recipe I tried of Robin's. My husband and I loved it and my kids liked it okay - not their favorite.I would put in bigger chunks of apples so they are not so soft. Easy Weeknight Meal 03/05/2007 at 01:12pm User: Caldwell from Clayton, MO User Rating: My husband and I enjoyed this meal, although it did not blow us away. It needed a good deal more seasoning. I did enjoy the combination of apples, chicken and rosemary. While it wasn't our favorite, the ease of the meal made it worth making. I won't make this recipe again, but might try a variation. Pretty Blah 03/03/2007 at 06:31pm User: Marilyn from Las Cruces, NM User Rating: I really thought this recipe sounded good so tried it tonight. As some of the others have stated, it was pretty blah. Apples were mush and no color. When almost ready to eat, I added my own things, one can diced tomatoes to give it some color and taste. Won't use this recipe again. everything but the apples 02/19/2007 at 05:33pm User: spencer from salt lake city, UT User Rating: dont like the cooked apple taste with the chicken. try cranberries instead Delicious! 01/17/2007 at 01:03pm User: Randy from Phoenix, AZ User Rating: all of the layers of flavor, it was a pleasure to eat. Nice flavor and easy to make. 01/17/2007 at 09:14am User: GEORGE from Brandon, FL User Rating: I'm all for slow cookers. There is nothing like putting it all together and walking away. My only suggestion is to cut back on the amount of onions. There were a lot of them to go around. the kids ate it 01/11/2007 at 08:46pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I have 3 children and they all ate this dinner except the apples. I thought the highlight of the dinner for them was the apples.I was wrong. A good addition to this recipe would be to add chopped carrots and celery. The chicken was the best part. The chicken was so tender that we could cut it with a spoon. Excellent and easy. 01/11/2007 at 12:35pm User: Lisa from Enfield, CT User Rating: This recipe tasted wonderful and wasn't loaded with salt. It was very flavorful and smelled wonderful when I walked in the door from work. I reccommend it to anyone who wants to come to a meal already cooked! I won't make it again 12/19/2006 at 09:33am User: Melinda from Auburn, CA User Rating: It was edible, but that's about it. Tasteless. We had to add some spice to it to eat it. The apples were mush. Not a keeper 12/16/2006 at 12:07pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Not worth trying. Love Rosemary but nothing inspiring in this dish. Take this one off. kid friendly 12/07/2006 at 10:45pm User: Anonymous User Rating: this was something that my 5 yr old and my 8 yr old both enjoyed! so much so.....they had seconds! no color 12/02/2006 at 09:23am User: TRISH from toms river, NJ User Rating: this tasted ok with some additions but there was no color. To me, that made it unappetizing. Family liked the flavor so I give it a four but I don't think I'll make it again Flavorless 11/20/2006 at 06:57pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Not a lot of flavor. I would double or triple the spices if I were to make it again. Good and easy 11/12/2006 at 07:53pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was very good. The breasts were a little dry but everyone ate it. easy to make! 11/04/2006 at 08:40pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I made this for my family. Everyone loved it. I plan to make it in the near future. hohum 10/30/2006 at 10:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I didn't get it. Blah, bland, boring with too much rosemary as a single note. Pretty Good! 10/29/2006 at 11:07am User: Dean from Denver, CO User Rating: Impressed. On top of rice this dish will feed your family for days. Make sure to use some meat with bones, as the flavor is excellent after cooking. Slow Cooker Chicken with Rosemary, Apples & Onions 10/27/2006 at 07:05pm User: Zella from Holbrook, AZ User Rating: It was delicious, however, my husband and I both felt that the onions overpowered the apples (and I only used one onion). However a nice combination and flavoring with the rosemary. A Few changes 10/26/2006 at 11:05am User: BONNIE from rockland, MA User Rating: Reading other posts I decided to make a few changes. I added garlic, white wine & grill seasoning for chicken. I had wanted to add a bay leaf too but forgot. The taste was very good w/ the changes. I will make again & try the bay leaf. I would use chicken w/ the skin on & remove before serving. Cooked 2 split breasts on hi for 2 hrs then lo for 1 & it was prefect. Just OK 10/25/2006 at 12:56pm User: Erin from Atlanta, GA User Rating: The chicken was tender and moist--but overall, the dish lacked flavor. I wanted more apple, more onion, more everything. Instead of tasting all of the flavors, I tasted none. I might try tweaking the recipe to better suit our tastes. Not Very Tasty 10/24/2006 at 02:17pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This had no particular taste that made it appealing. The apples were mush and didn't even have any flavor. Wouldn't prepare a second time. Great Meal for Whole Family 10/23/2006 at 09:42pm User: CAROL from Alexandria, VA User Rating: This recipe was a hit with both my 14-month-old AND my husband. The soft chicken is so easy to pull off the bones for a toddler to eat, and my son apparently found the sweet taste appealing. My husband also liked the flavor and thought the chicken was delicious served over rice. I liked the combination of flavors, especially the rosemary. It didn't bother me that the apples mostly melted away into the sauce. Yum. Bland chicken 10/19/2006 at 08:06pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Very uninteresting my boyfriend thinks I'm a good cook 10/17/2006 at 03:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: this was soo easy and delicious, I threw in some wine and extra apple. i used ready-made rice in a bag and everybody thinks i'm a gourmet Sunday night company 10/16/2006 at 10:41am User: Anonymous User Rating: Great dinner for small family get together. Put food in crock pot while watching football on tv. Used skinless, boneless chicken breast and brown rice cooked in chicken broth. For a side I had small green beans and shallots sauted in olive oil and butter. Dinner was wonderful with an apple crostada for dessert with vanilla no-fat yogurt. Yum Virgin Souper 10/14/2006 at 03:35pm User: m from Chicago, IL User Rating: Although this was my very first soup dish, I found it very practical, yet delightful. Incredibly, only a novice degree of skill is enough to comprehend the directions. More importantly, this dish is hearty enough propel me into the often cold midwestern winter months. Yummy! 10/05/2006 at 02:47pm User: Teresa from Burlington, NJ User Rating: This recipe was extremly easy to prepare and to make. I don't like onions, but I did eat the ones in this recipe and they were delicious! not a fan 09/30/2006 at 07:04pm User: Meredith from hixson, TN User Rating: The chicken was dry, the apples tasted like potatoes that were cooked in with the roast. they were mushy - i expected them to be like fried apples. (at least that texture) Good slow cookin 09/28/2006 at 05:55pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was very easy abd very tasty had some family over to eat it and they liked it also. The kids ate it too!! Will definately make this one again! Fabulous!! 09/24/2006 at 08:38pm User: Anonymous User Rating: An absolutely wonderful twist on a typically boring slow cooked chicken. It has great flavor that even my 10 year old enjoyed. Sweet and Savory 09/05/2006 at 10:08am User: Juliet from Myrtle Beach, SC User Rating: I enjoyed this recipe. Very easy and great tasting. I added some carrots to the pot which made this dish even better. I even used fat free cream of celery soup and this dish still smelled and tasted fabulous. Just okay 08/12/2006 at 08:54pm User: Anonymous User Rating: As with all slow cooker recipes, it was very easy to make. However, it didn't quite have enough flavor, and the chicken was tough (although I may have just overcooked it). I don't think I'll make this again. Apples to apples 08/06/2006 at 09:56pm User: Ryan from Lexington, KY User Rating: My wife and I enjoyed this recipe with one note of recommendation. Get a sweet and firm variety of apple. The apple we used was dubbed by the vendor at the local farmer's market a "stewing apple." I don't remember the name but there was little flavor and a very coarse texture. The entree would have been great with a sweeter apple. ?? 07/25/2006 at 09:23pm User: Maria from Grapeland, TX User Rating: No Taste. Very bland. No zip. Nothing exciting to the tastebuds. Superb Quick fix for the Working Mom 07/19/2006 at 02:34pm User: GAIL from Bernardsville, NJ User Rating: I loved this meal and so did my family. It was easy, fast and tastes delicious. I would highly recommend this dish for a busy family OMG 07/13/2006 at 06:52pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was so easy and tasted so good. I did not have a slow cooker, but my Nesco oven worked fine. Started the recipe on the roast setting 300 dergree for one hour. Then decreased the temp down to 250 for an additional 1hr and 20 min. I also added the whole can of Cream of celery soup. I only had one apple so I just added 1/4cup apple juice and 1 Apple, for an added flavor. I also used coarse salt and coarse ground black pepper making sure to salt and pepper both sides of the chicken. The smell from using the fresh Rosemary was wonderful. Thanks Robin Not bad, not great 06/15/2006 at 02:49pm User: Angela from Port Richey, FL User Rating: This dish was super easy to put together. I put a few more spices in it, like poultry seasoning. I also thickened the sauce when the chicken was done. It came out good but I think it was better a few days later. I will play with this recipe a bit to try and perfect it a bit more. Great taste with a few adjustments! 06/13/2006 at 07:04pm User: Anonymous User Rating: After reading the reviews I adjusted the recipe a bit and the results were GREAT!! Cut chicken broth to 1/2 cup, doubled salt and pepper amounts, and used 3 T. FRESH chopped rosemary. I also used cream of chicken with herb soup instead of cream of celery, and cut apples in quarters. Cooked on low for 6 hours. SUPER AND VERY EASY! Too Bland For Me 06/04/2006 at 07:58pm User: Valerie from San Diego, CA User Rating: Eventhough it wasn't a bad tasting recipe, it was way to bland, my family had to add a lot of seasoning to eat it. I enjoy more flavorful food. Fast and Easy, but just OK 05/12/2006 at 11:11am User: Anonymous User Rating: My husband liked this more than I did. I think I'll use Granny Smith or another heartier apple next time, or reduce cooking time so the apples don't turn into applesauce (even though I left the apples in quarter). I used boneless skinless chicken breasts and Italian seasoning because I didn't have rosemary, but it needed something else for more flavor. I also added some cornstarch mixed in chicken broth to thicken it up at the end. It did get better as it sat in the fridge for leftovers though. Apples and Onions with everything 04/15/2006 at 06:52pm User: MICHELLE from Morgan Hill, CA User Rating: I liked the recipe so much I tried it with pork. It was easy and tasted great. When I made it with pork I added dijon to it. wouldn't make again 04/03/2006 at 09:44pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I used bonelss skinless chicken breasts and that part tasted good - but apples? It was a weird combination with chicken in a crock pot. I definitely will not make this again. It was good. 03/24/2006 at 06:01pm User: KATIE from Harbor, OR User Rating: It was good but I am not really a fan of dark meat chicken. Other than that, it was great! Okay 03/24/2006 at 12:30pm User: Malissa from Simpsonville, SC User Rating: This recipe was definately easy to prepare but reallly didn't have any taste when it was done cooking. Not my favorite. quick and easy 03/23/2006 at 03:18pm User: DENISE from Marietta, GA User Rating: This is a great recipe. My family really enjoyed it, and it was very easy. Awesome 03/23/2006 at 09:53am User: Kathy from River Falls, WI User Rating: My family thought I the meal was excellent. It was so easy to do that I have made it several times. Not the worst thing I've ever eaten...but close 03/20/2006 at 11:52pm User: April from Austin, TX User Rating: I had really high hopes for this recipe, it sounded great, but the results were dissapointing. Everything came out VERY bland. We threw most of it out. Strange taste. 03/14/2006 at 09:54am User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was a complete loser. It had a strange taste, and did not appeal to anyone in my family. I wonder if Robin actually tried this recipe herself. Too good to be this easy! 03/12/2006 at 09:02am User: MERIBETH from DeLand, FL User Rating: This recipe was outstanding with flavor. One of the best things is my daughter, who works and doesn't have time to cook healthy meals for her family has it once aweek now for dinner. Thanks, Meribeth So average.... 03/09/2006 at 10:39pm User: Sarah from Tempe, AZ User Rating: As you'd expect from slow cooker chicken, the chicken was nice and tender and juicy, but that's about it. The onions and apples were relatively flavorless by the end of several hours of cooking, so the dish essentially is poached, slightly sweet, slightly oniony chicken. Very vanilla. Not so good 03/09/2006 at 12:25pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We didn't enjoy the flavors. It looked good, but just wasn't. Not so good 03/08/2006 at 06:36pm User: KATHY from Westerly, RI User Rating: The chicken was tasty but I can do without the rest. I will never make this recipe again. I am surprised it has such a high rating. good meal 03/07/2006 at 07:23pm User: licinia from newark, DE User Rating: very easy to make - smelled up the house lovely. couldn't be better 03/01/2006 at 04:20pm User: Marjorie from Pittsburgh, PA User Rating: This recipe is incredibly easy and tasty. I served it with mashed potatoes - great comfort food for a cold Pennsylvania evening after a long day at work. yummy 03/01/2006 at 10:43am User: laura from Provo, UT User Rating: so good! i doubled the recipe to have leftovers throughout the week, and each time my husband and I would eat it, we said it kept getting better and better! yum 02/26/2006 at 11:42am User: Kathleen from Myrtle Beach, SC User Rating: Wonderful flavor. A nice change for a crockpot meal. Next time I'm doubling the chicken and adding a little more liquid to compensate. Make sure you use chicken with bones to add the extra flavor. to much of 1 thing not enough of another 02/25/2006 at 08:38am User: Anonymous User Rating: apples get to soft in 8 hours of cooking, I think it has to much onions. I was thinking it may have a little more of a sweet taste to it. Good, but mine turned out a little greasy 02/24/2006 at 07:48am User: Stephanie from McKinney, TX User Rating: This was a wonderful recipe as far as ease and flavor. The only thing I might change is to use more chicken and mostly white meat. I think also to take the skin off before you cook would help as well. The apples were a delicious flavor with the rosemary. I think granny smiths cut somewhat thick would work well. This is a great meal for taking to someone's house or a nice dinner for your family that you can throw together quickly and let the cooker do the work. Super easy and tasty! 02/23/2006 at 08:43pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My husband normally don't care for chicken but he loves this dish. I used boneless chicken (so they don't look like chicken to him). No problem for the extra liquid.. we got both entree and soup out of this pot. just okay 02/23/2006 at 05:17pm User: Samantha from San Juan Capistrano, CA User Rating: No terrible, but definitely not good. I added some lemon juice and garlic to make up for the bland taste, as well as a pinch of sage. If you make this recipe, be prepared to alter it! Easy, Tasty, lightly sweet, and moist! 02/23/2006 at 05:04pm User: Sean from Bothell, WA User Rating: This receipe is one of my favorites. The chicken comes out very moist from cooking 6 hours, the apples put a sweet taste in the chicken and the apples/rice/onions makes a great side dish to compliment the chicken! A Definate try! I like 02/22/2006 at 11:12pm User: Courtney from Clementon, NJ User Rating: This was a really easy recipe and smelled GREAT cooking all day long. I did the setting on high for the shorter ammount of time and it still didnt cook the chicken all the way through so thats something to keep in mind. We had to pop it in the microwave which kind of sucked. But overall I liked this and Mom and Dad said they did too! a working womans favorite 02/22/2006 at 09:38pm User: pat from MONROE, NY User Rating: This was great. I prepped the onions and the apples the night before put them in a bag in the fridge. Then I just through everything into the crock pot the next morning before leaving for work. When I got back in the evening it was ready, I just made some rice and veg we were eating in 15 minutes!! My family loved it. The apples gave it a nice sweet flavor that the kids just thought was great. my husband says "it's a keeper!" Fantastic! 02/22/2006 at 09:06pm User: MARY from Livermore, CA User Rating: This is a super easy and Yummy recipe. We just had it for dinner tonight, and my family can't stop raving about it. I used dried rosemary instead of fresh, I didn't have any fresh rosemary on hand. Pretty Good 02/22/2006 at 12:52pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I would say it was a bit runny. Due to reading previous reviews, I added italian seasoning and extra salt to add more flavor. That was good. I didn't like the bone in approach. It wasn't bad enough to feed to the in-laws and not good enough to try to impress my parents! My four yr old ate it though! :) Excellent and easy 02/22/2006 at 09:40am User: Anonymous User Rating: My whole family loved this recipe! Slow Chicken- finally 02/21/2006 at 04:59pm User: Michelle from Oakdale, MN User Rating: I have been looking for a recipe for slow cooking chicken pieces for some time. Finally, I happened to catch this show and tried the recipe. I read the reviews first and took some of the advice. This was a VERY tasty way to cook individual chicken breasts, which is all I had at the time. I used cream of onion soup and added a bit of lemon zest and the flavor was out of this world. My teenage daughter's comment- "Next time make more chicken, there wasn't enough" Next time I may use legs and breasts, and I'll leave the apples in quarters. Cooking this on low for 6 hours just turns the apple slices to mush. Thanks for the wonderful recipe Robin! OK and easy 02/21/2006 at 08:41am User: Anonymous User Rating: I liked the idea of the chicken with apples and onions and the ease of the slow cooker. The only thing I really didn't like was that the meat came away from the bones, and the chicken bones can be quite small - I had to really look through before serving it to my kids. The flavor was good, I think I'd use more apples and salt and pepper, maybe experiment with different cream soups too. Good but not great 02/20/2006 at 11:59pm User: Janet from St. George, UT User Rating: I was very pleased with the way the chicken turned out. It was very tender and practically falling off the bones. The flavor of the sauce was okay, but a little bland. I will try the Granny Smith apples next time and cut them in bigger pieces. My husband gave this a higher rating that I did, so I averaged the scores and ended up with a four. So far I have found all of Robin's dishes (I've made four) to be rather bland and lacking in taste. slow cooker chicken with rosemary, apples and onions 02/20/2006 at 10:06am User: Genie from Myrtle Beach, SC User Rating: A very easy recipe. Everything can be chopped the night before and then arranged in the cooker the next morning. Just make the rice when you come home from work. A perfect meal when your hungry and don't feel like fussing to make a good and healty meal. Great combo 02/18/2006 at 10:39pm User: Shelley from Lake Charles, LA User Rating: This is a spectacular combination of flavors and easy as pie to prepare! Very disappointing 02/14/2006 at 09:32pm User: joy from quincy, MA User Rating: The only reason why I'm not giving it one star is because my kids ate it without complaining. Very watery and very little flavor. I am deleting this out of my recipe box and throwing away the copy I printed. Very blah 02/14/2006 at 09:14pm User: MICHELLE from St. Louis, MO User Rating: No big deal. I would not make it again. The color was even boring looking. Easy & Good 02/12/2006 at 10:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was super simple and came out great. Only had Cream of Chicken soup so I used that instead and added celery - Yikes! 02/11/2006 at 10:03pm User: Robin from OFallon, MO User Rating: Just short of nasty... Not workin' for me...
