EXCELLENT SAUERKRAUT 0 New Years' MUST 12/27/2007 at 03:07pm User: Sheelagh from Euless, TX User Rating: This is a GREAT recipe. If you don't care for the particular herbs suggested - change 'em! For my family, pork and sauerkraut were New Years' staples ("good luck" - supposedly). WHATEVER --- I've loved it all my life, in a variety of ways, and this is a wonderfully tasty recipe - even for the purists among us. Thank you to our cook, and ENJOY to the rest of you who try it! Happy 2008. NO 04/06/2007 at 12:15am User: Anonymous User Rating: The flavors did not work for us. Delicious and laughably simple! 03/26/2007 at 10:24pm User: SEAN from WASHINGTON, DC User Rating: This was a perfect slow cooker meal for a Sunday of running around. It's one of those rare "gourmet" slow cooker recipes that only requires cutting up the ingredients, putting them into the cooker, turning it on and returning in six hours to a DELICIOUS result! The only thing I changed was I used a bottle of beer instead of the wine. Everything was absolutely succulent, especially the kielbasa. This may be my go to alternative to chili for next year's Super Bowl. my boyfriend loved it! 01/16/2008 at 12:08pm User: Anonymous User Rating: i made this dish for my boyfriend on sunday and he loved it. i did tweak it a bit for us. instead of kielbasa i used 2 pork brats and 2 veal brats. i also added a smoked ham hock. instead of thyme and parsley i sprinkled some herbs de provence over the sauerkraut. and instead of dry white wine we used some cheap champagne in the fridge. it was fantasic!!! cloves are expensive, so if you don't have them on hand just skip it. trust me, you won't miss them w/all the other flavor. don't however skip the mustard (grainy) and cornichons. they're perfect w/this dish. Just like I remember it from childhood 01/03/2008 at 11:51am User: Anonymous User Rating: My mother used to make choucroute when we were kids and this recipe tasted very similar. It was just great. I made mine without the apples. |
