Great Twist on Fruit Salad

I loved the sweet sharpness of the vanilla / black pepper combo. The mayo helped balance the sweetness of the fruit and dressing. We loved this recipe.

I tried the recipe, but it turned out I forgot the pepper and I put too much Mayo. I still think it would have tasted good if I did it right. Alton Brown is a Genius! His other recipes were amazing.

All Fruits

I used two different types of Apple, a pear, blue berries, strawberries, and one orange completely peeled and sliced. The dressing works with all combinations of fruit. The tangy Mayo is complimented with the sweet Vanilla and Honey.

I wasn't sure I'd like mayonnaise on my fruit, but I love Alton Brown, and so I decided to give it a chance. I like to bring salads to work for lunch, so I thought a fruit salad would be a refreshing twist. I made up a batch of this salad and vanilla dressing to take to work each day this week. I just finished my lunch for today, and I have to say that I LOVE this fruit salad. What a nice change from my usual boring green salad and Italian dressing. Leave it to Alton Brown to make lunch exciting!

This recipe was so delicious! Mayonnaise and vanilla extract on fruit? Who knew it could be soooo good??! Alton is amazing :). Don't make this too much ahead of time however, as it gets a little soupy. Still tastes great, though!

Delicious!!

This is a wonderful way to complement fresh fruit. Easier on the amount of dressing was my preference. The dressing is a nice balance of sweet and not.

Nice, Light Taste

The vanilla dressing is easy to make and is very mild flavored, not overpowering. I substituted sour cream for the mayo to reduce the fat and calories in the dressing. Still tasted good.

Pretty tasty

I was a little skeptical about trying this recipe because mayo on fruit didn't sound too appealing. It turned out that it tastes pretty good, and it seems to taste even better after I refrigerated it overnight. It's still a little different than what I'm used to eating, but I will most likely make this again.

Sooo much better than it sounds! I expected this to taste pretty much like store-bought vanilla yogurt, but it is nothing like that. I added a teaspoon of poppy seeds, and it was perfect!

Yummy, Easy, even holds for a couple of days (no longer than 3 or 4) but hey it rarely sticks around that long. I put lightly toasted pecans in mine worked out great.

I made this sans the mango & nuts, with extra on the other fruits for Easter dinner, and all the kids loved it. There were no leftovers.

While mixing the dressing I gave it a dry and decided this one may be a swing a miss, but once it got on the fruit something happened and it was all really quite good.

This is delicious. People always ask for the recipe. To make it great, make sure all your fruit is high quality. Use the best Greek yogurt and honey you can find. We like to add color with red and purple seedless grapes. This recipe is flexible if you prefer other fruit but it is delicious as written.

Salty!

I thought the dressing was WAY too salty, which is probably my fault for not tasting as I went along (I waited until the end and by then it was too late!) I would like to try it again though because it was beautiful!

Mixed Reviews

I thought this salad was delicious. It is similar to a regular Waldorf, but the addition of the tropical fruit gave it an added zest. I liked the yogurt-mayo flavor which made it a less sweet than the usual sugared cream sauce in a fruit salad, but my husband and daughter were less enthusiastic and thought it wasn't "sweet" enough. My "5" and their "3" averaged out to a "4". If you like Waldorf salad, you will love this.

I made this for my family on New Year's Day. I had to add a couple of packets of Splenda to this recipe because no one was eating it. That did the trick. (I'm sure Alton would be furious! HA!)

very good

I made this recipe twice. The first time I followed the recipe exactly as it read and founf that it needed a little extra sweetness... about another Tbsp of honey. The second time I made it I substituted the plain yogurt for vanilla yogurt and omitted the vanilla extract. They were great both ways. Even my picky 4 year old ate it.

I believe the combo of yogurt and mayo was just not right. It was funky tasting; I didn't mind it, it took a little getting used to, but my kids didn't like it.
