Kids Love This 12/02/2006 at 03:29pm User: James from Omaha, NE User Rating: This is quick, easy and my kids just love it. Really adds to the basic tater tot. ok 11/29/2006 at 07:58am User: michael from montgomery, IL User Rating: These were ok. Great for a simple meal and adds a twist to make the same old same old new. What? 10/24/2006 at 11:15am User: Anonymous User Rating: What's next, microwave pancakes? Not For Me 10/17/2006 at 05:25pm User: Jennifer from Lincoln, IL User Rating: These just didn't do much for me. I didn't see a real big improvement to just eating the tater tots as is. Great twist on potatoes 10/01/2006 at 01:12pm User: GINGER from Colorado Springs, CO User Rating: Quick and easy way to take frozen food to a higher level Easy and Yummy!! 09/29/2006 at 12:04pm User: PATRICIA from Franklin Park, IL User Rating: True, this is not a snobby gourmet culinary dish. Who cares??? This dish was great!!!My husband and I enjoyed this just as much as some of the more "refined" recipes that we have tried from other shows. Lighten up-not every meal has to be fine dining!! Guy does not claim to be anything other that what he is- a fella that can cook! I enjoy great food and it does not always have to be complex or exotic to be considered good eating as far as I am concerned! Fantastic 09/25/2006 at 11:57am User: Tom from Rockton, IL User Rating: Idid not think that you could improve over jazzed up bagged tots buit this rocks!! Try changing up with different cheezes. I will completely change the taste. awesome 09/23/2006 at 10:46am User: B from clayton, NC User Rating: I increased the temperature to 425 degrees to be sure they held together after reading other comments. I also sprinkled a few bacon pieces on top. Tasted great. Everyone loved them. I like this show because of the unusual recipes. Way to go Guy! Great Tator Tots 09/17/2006 at 03:04pm User: JULIA from Hendersonville, NC User Rating: These are really very different, and very good.I am shocked at the absolute rudeness of some of the people writing thier opinion of Guy's recipes. If you haven't tried it, don't knock it, and even if you don't like it, there is a nice way to say it.Being insulting to him or to Food network shows your bad manners. And we should all remember Food network and all the Chef's show different recipes for ALL people, not just a select few.If you see a recipe you don't like, then find one you do like and make it. I admire this young man and Food network is my favorite channel. And Guy don't let a few no-brainers make you feel bad. Keep up the great work. Tasty Taters 09/11/2007 at 11:40am User: Angela from Brown Deer, WI User Rating: This was very good and easy to make. A great twist on an old favorite. yum 09/10/2006 at 09:35pm User: george from union grove, WI User Rating: How easy and simple, and tasty !! Tasty 09/07/2006 at 02:21pm User: HEATHER from Tulsa, OK User Rating: These are really tasty. The only thing was the tator tots fell completely apart when I put them in the bowl. I just mashed them up a little more and made hash browns out of them. My family didn't know any different and loved them. Great Taters 08/30/2006 at 11:28pm User: Jayma from laguna niguel, CA User Rating: This one is a no-brainer that my family LOVES! Even my picky grand daughter loves them... One change we have made... we use the onion tater tots. Wonderful! Mixed Reactions 08/28/2007 at 12:23am User: Janet from St. George, UT User Rating: My family rated this all the way from a "5" to a "2." Most of them really liked the taters, but my husband gave the dish a big "thumbs down." I felt it was pretty good and is certainly an easy, no fuss dish. I think next time I will omit the garlic however. Fun Menu Idea 08/26/2006 at 12:35pm User: Janet from Portland, OR User Rating: Despite all the negative comments (mostly from people who hadn't made the recipe, just bashed it) I made these. Tater tots? What a great idea. Who cares that it's a no-brainer, not the healthiest etc. Sometimes it's fun to go outside of the box and try something different. I even served it to company, and every last tot was consumed. It's nice to be able to make something tasty from time to time that doesn't take forever to make. The grilled salad was great as well (although I forgot to buy blue cheese and I think that would have been awesome), the Bloody Mary steak had good taste but next time I think I'll kick it up another notch, or two. Don't knock it until you've tried it! Dory, Mesa, AZ 08/20/2006 at 07:43pm User: D from Mesa, AZ User Rating: Oh, give me a break! This is a "no brainer". What a waste of good air time and money for this one. Let's get Bobby Flay in for a Show Down. I'm sure he would have a great laugh at this one! Not for me--or anyone I know 08/19/2006 at 04:57pm User: Jeffery from Honolulu, HI User Rating: The Bloody Mary Steak show was chock full of awful recipes, and this one, Parmesan Taters, was tops on the worst list. The recipe was neither innovative nor interesting and seemed more like he stood in front of his home freezer looking for inspiration the night before taping--unfortunately for us, his inspiration was tater tots! We've all made awful meals with the residuals in our freezer and refreigerators, but we don't make a show, put it on a specialty network, and broadcast it to the world...we just never make it again! Food Network: stop putting on wannabe chefs cooking up big servings of yuck. A short-order cook is not a chef! To those below who believe only those who cook the recipe should rate it: one of the most valid ratings is reading a recipe and KNOWING you don't want to make or eat it! Parmesan Taters 08/17/2006 at 04:18pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Followed the recipe exactly w/ measurements but the tater tots did not get crispy. Perhaps a whole bag and less oil? Great Taters 08/16/2006 at 04:25pm User: Glenn from Milwaukee, WI User Rating: Simply and an incredible twist on taters that is quite simple to do. Ho-hum 08/15/2006 at 04:50am User: Susie from White Haven, PA User Rating: These tots were something different for dinner, however, they just didn't spark my taste buds as being "awesome". Tater Tots? 08/13/2006 at 07:09am User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe is responsible for Guy's nickname (on several message boards)...'Tater Tot'. *lol* Dude takes tater tots, douses them with EVOO (TWICE) and calls that a side dish??? I can go on and on about his lack of talent and appeal...but really, do I even have to? Tater Tots 08/12/2006 at 07:23pm User: Barbara from upland, CA User Rating: As if tater tots don't already have enough beef fat in them to begin with, we need a quarter cup of additional oil? It seems as if Guy has a pretty good time in front of the camera, but he needs to change at least two things -- move his eggs out of the refrigerator door (the worst place), and learn how to pronounce BAL-samic vinegar (not BA-salmic). I also agree with losing some the the jewelry -- and what's with the sweat band? Haven't tried them yet, but the pork recipes looked really good. kellie mass 08/10/2006 at 06:34pm User: kellie from berkley, MA User Rating: my kids beg for these. easy with good results 08/07/2006 at 07:24pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I spice up my olive oil with red pepper flakes and I used this red chili oil. This was a simple side that thanks to Guy I was able to make a little more special. Thanks for including some real world recipes- we make a lot more meals that include things like tater tots than fancier more exotic ingredients. I expect more from the Food Network 08/06/2006 at 01:27pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Tater Tots? While Guy may have been the best choice from your last crop of reality show contenders, his menus and personality leave a lot to be desired. The menu that included this tater tots recipe was ridiculous--nothing innovative or mildly interesting. Who approved this menu for production? The Food Network already has a semi-homemade cooking show with Sandra Lee; we don't need to see someone else taking frozen tater tots, adding grease, and calling it cooking. Shame on you...we expect more from the Food Network. NOT FOR THIS GUY! 08/06/2006 at 10:39am User: Wayne from Tampa, FL User Rating: LETS NOT START OFF W/simi/ WHAT/ LETS JUST SAY THIS WAS AWFUL. WB Tampa. I love your show Guy 08/02/2006 at 08:36pm User: Jill from Brooklyn, NY User Rating: I love your show and recipes and was impressed you chose to make tator tots. But they are tater tots and there is a limit what you can do with a tator tot. Personally I don't like them although my kids liked them. I really like your show because of the food you make and the recipes you choose-they are food people actually eat and made to taste better than the recipes we currently use more than most of the food network shows. So far there has not been any weird ingredients that are hard to find or you have to go to a specialty store to obtain (and pay for). Hope to be watching you for many years. GUY IS AWSOME 08/01/2006 at 06:05pm User: Jeff from Newaygo, MI User Rating: This whole meal is great Parmesan Taters 07/27/2007 at 12:27am User: Dawn from Las Vegas, NV User Rating: This was easy and delicious. My family loves them. Oh No Again 07/25/2006 at 11:34am User: Anonymous User Rating: Way to greasy and my wife just about lost her love for tater tots after this. fun family side dish 07/23/2006 at 11:42pm User: cheryl from tucson, AZ User Rating: this recipe is easy, tasty, and appeals to everyone. It went well with this shows meal. Nice change of pace 07/23/2006 at 11:32am User: COLETTE from Sacramento, CA User Rating: So maybe tater tots aren't "gourmet" enough for some. But let's face it, if you have kids or not, everyone is looking for a quick meal that tastes good. We don't all have time to spend 4 hours in the kitchen making dinner every night. I never thought of adding these flavors to tater tots but they were great! It was a fun dish and I will make it again. Way to go Guy! Is this for adults or kids only??? 07/19/2006 at 06:50pm User: HEATHER from MEMPHIS, TN User Rating: Was this just a quick throw in to fill up the time slot, or is this recipe for real?? Of course people with kids under 10 would think it's great, because what kid wouldn't love tater tots with more grease and cheese? This is GROSS!!! I don't need food network for this no brainer heart attack! Housewives have been doing this trick since the invention of frozen tater tots. Great French Fry Substitute 07/16/2006 at 12:46pm User: Richard from brooklyn, NY User Rating: Suprisingly enough me children loved this and they dont like alot of things. The fact that their was fresh galic and parsley in it was the real shocker. great tots 07/15/2006 at 07:57pm User: SHARON from york, PA User Rating: You have a winner. and they are so easy. Sassy Tots 07/15/2006 at 11:56am User: Jayme from Colorado Springs, CO User Rating: Good way to dress up your tots. Tater Heaven 07/13/2007 at 02:40pm User: Elena from Queen Creek, AZ User Rating: Guy hit one out of the park with these taters. Easy to make and good side with any dish. Keep them coming Guy! Doesn't look like picture! Who cares? 07/13/2007 at 12:41am User: Brian from kenosha, WI User Rating: But hey... each oven is subject to its own settings, and I think that made the difference. What I mean is that my Parmesan Taters turn out to be Parmesan Hash upon mixing afterwards, but everyone who tasted it said it was great. The only trick that remains is keeping the taters together when mixing, but if not, so what? Still good to eat. YUM 07/12/2006 at 11:32am User: Mandy from Lompoc, CA User Rating: Great recipe. Fast, simple way to kick up an old family favorite. Everyone loves tater tots, but this recipe gives it a little something extra to make your taste buds perk up! The Kids Liked Them! 07/12/2006 at 10:04am User: susan from chagrin falls, OH User Rating: Crispier and better than I remember from my youth and the adults had a good laugh reminiscing about them from the past. The kids liked them. Would I make again---no. I think that I might try the same ingredients on fingerlings. I love tater tots! 07/10/2006 at 06:53pm User: Michele from Albuquerque, NM User Rating: I love tater tots. However, I didn't think this tasted that much better than tater tots plain or with cheese. My daughter still dipped hers in ketchup, even with my grown-up additions. The recipe was okay. Yum!! 07/10/2006 at 01:38pm User: Valerie from Aston, PA User Rating: These may not be healthy, but they taste great - there's nothing wrong with having tater tots once in a while. These are a great side dish with a sandwich supper... I feel sorry for the "anonymous" person who hasn't had a tater tot since they were 10 years old! I just can't imagine! Tasty 07/09/2006 at 01:08am User: Emily from Santa Rosa, CA User Rating: Kids and adults love these. They have been a huge success for me. Delicious! 07/08/2006 at 07:25pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My husband made these tater tots the other night and they were spectacular! Who would have thought that something as hum-drum as a tater tot could taste so good? Great!!!! 07/07/2006 at 10:30pm User: Christina from Charlotte, NC User Rating: My whole family thought these taters were awesome. Even my 2 and 5 year old. Thanks Guy!! Can't wait to watch more of your shows. I now stock tater tots in my freezer! 07/02/2006 at 07:15pm User: Sandie from Temecula, CA User Rating: I hate tater tots! Always have...but not any more! What an incredible spin on the mundane! These were a very big hit with my family. They go wonderfully with the Grilled Bloody Mary Flank Steak, and the Grilled Romaine with Bleu Cheese and Balsamic Vinagrette. I can't wait for each of Guy's shows! I have set TIVO to give me a Season Pass! Thanks!!!! Reality Recipe 07/02/2006 at 03:30pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Again as with the flank steak recipe, I was very surprised at the simplicity of this recipe - while not the healthiest of food choices out there, it was very quick and simple. Kudos to Guy for jazzing up a basic like Tater Tots! How very refreshing to find a cook who understands what REAL PEOPLE eat and works with that! This required a recipe and airtime? 07/02/2006 at 03:19pm User: LEIGH from Long Island, NY User Rating: Too much fat, too much salt. I expected better from Guy. Still, it's early in his FTV career. Oh My Gosh! 07/02/2006 at 10:58am User: Debbie from Wilkesboro, NC User Rating: I watch food network constantly! But never thought about jazzing up the tater tots! These were wonderful! I was pulling for Nathan Lyons during the Food Network Star show. However, I love Guy Fieri! He explains little details that I need and want to know. I can't wait every week for his show. Congrats Guy and I am really glad that you won! You are awesome! I would like a cookbook from you. How 'bout it? Now I have you and Alton Brown, and of course, Emeril and Bobby Flay. And Mario! You guys are my heroes and have definitely spiced up my meals! Thank You! Awesome 07/02/2006 at 05:41am User: shell from santa rosa, CA User Rating: First of all, I thought the recipe was great. I know Guy personally, eaten at all of his fine establishments, and know one of his greatest talents, out of many, is his phenomenal ability to take something basic and really jazz it up. Yes they're tater tots, they're different and they're fabulous. The point of a review is to rate it after you've made it and tried it, not to bash it just because you have nothing better to do. Obviously, some viewers are insecure of their own career and personal shortcomings and feel the need to post something of no merit just to make themselves feel better but this is not the forum folks. If you've made it and hate it then rate it low, don't diss it for the sole purpose of bringing down someone more succesful and classier in a public venue to boost your own self esteem. Please 07/02/2006 at 12:25am User: Nicole from Louisville, KY User Rating: I notice that quite a few pretentious losers see fit to slam this recipe without even trying it just because it features tater-tots. PLEASE! Maybe you fancy yourselves the consummate gourmand, but most of us are just trying to please our families with good food and this does the job. My family really enjoyed these tots. Guy lets his culinary creativity shine in a way that is very family friendly - a rear gift indeed. So please - unless you have something constructive to say (i.e. have tried this and have a genuine comment to share) - do us all a favor and don't bother posting here. yummy taters 06/29/2006 at 05:00pm User: Toni from Mundelein, IL User Rating: The recipe was really easy to follow. My children loved the taters. No tater tots, please 06/29/2006 at 03:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I loved watching Guy Fieri on The next Food Network Star and I voted for him to win! But, I have to say that this recipe is a huge disappointment. Tater tots? Please. I have seen many chefs on Food Network make roasted potatoes with ingredients similar to Guy's, but with REAL potatoes. So, I tried this with quartered red potatoes. I mixed the oil and other ingredients in a bowl with the potatoes and then roasted them on a baking sheet (no raw garlic, thanks). They came out great that way! NEW Low 06/28/2006 at 10:49pm User: David from austin, TX User Rating: I don't watch the food network to make tater tots, what were they thinking. Yum Yum 06/27/2006 at 10:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This just became my family's and I favorit. My kids just loved it. When you can get your kids to eat something new and say YUM YUM, you have a hit. + 06/27/2006 at 09:27pm User: Inna from blah, CA User Rating: Not the healthiest potato recipe around, but very tasty. The whole family loved it. The Dumbing Down of America Continues 06/27/2006 at 04:43pm User: Sherri from New Britain, CT User Rating: I love tater tots but I don't need a cooking show for them. Good! 06/27/2006 at 01:08pm User: Brenda from westland, MI User Rating: These were very tasty. I did put them back in the oven for just a second to "cook" the raw garlic. Great for what they are intended to be, a retro side with a twist. Lighten up 06/27/2006 at 08:35am User: ELISSA from holland, MI User Rating: Why is it that the people who write bad reviews don't sign their name? What a woos. Tater tots are something from almost everyone's childhood and bring back memories, both good and bad.(mean lunch ladies). An occassional serving won't harden our arteries or kill us and these are something both children and adults can share and enjoy. I prepared the entire meal for my family, adults and young grandchildren last night and all, including the kids loved it. Fast, easy and not too much time in the kitchen away from guests. Guy works in the kitchen like most of us do and so far his recipes have been family friendly. He's made a fan of me and I will be a regular. awesome taters 06/26/2006 at 09:55pm User: Diana from Buffalo, WY User Rating: Garlic, cheese, EVOO, tater tots - what's not to like!!!My husband and I are old (late 40's) we love tater tots. They are a part of the lunch specials in our town. People should not review recipes they haven't even tried! I didn't measure, so my taters may have been a little heavier on the garlic and cheese. They were outstanding! Guy...you are my hero.... Are You Kidding Me? 06/26/2006 at 07:57pm User: Melissa from Mingoville, PA User Rating: I couldn't believe it - a Chef on Food Network using frozen Tater Tots!!! Then I happen to have a bag in my freezer and gave it a try along with the rest of the recipes from this show. While I should have cooked the taters a bit longer to make them more crispy, the taste was fabulous! My adult kids loved it! Feh 06/26/2006 at 06:31pm User: The Divine Miss P from AnywhereIWannaBe, MD User Rating: I've had better...at the bar around the corner. These are nothing to write home about and they're high fat/high carb/high salt to boot. You're kidding me! 06/26/2006 at 04:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I'm sorry, but tater tots? This is not something I would serve to friends. I haven't had a tater tot since I was about 10 years old. Also, what is with the dousing of EVOO? Yuck. If you want semi-homemade, watch Sandra Lee, not this joke of a show. Anyone can jazz them up. Quick & Yummy 06/26/2006 at 12:35pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This isn't a gourmet dish...but it is still quite yummy. Congratulations on your first show, Guy! Consider me a regular viewer. Is this a joke? 06/26/2006 at 12:10pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Douse these already fatty tots in more oil and cheese? No thanks. Frozen Tater Tots?! 06/26/2006 at 09:37am User: Anonymous User Rating: And just when I thought the Food Network couldn't sink any lower... This is a joke, right? Right?? 06/26/2006 at 12:28am User: John from Providence, RI User Rating: Two words: These suck. Adult Taters! 06/25/2006 at 09:16pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Great for kids and adults alike. Finally, a recipe that takes what my kids eat all the time and changes it up to be a meal that my husband and I like as well!! Great Job, Guy! Great new way to eat Tater Tots 06/25/2006 at 08:53pm User: BEKAH from Rincon, GA User Rating: We had these Tater Tots with some chicken tonight and the kids just loved. My husband and I liked it too. The cheese is perfect on the tots and we'll be making these again. Great Tater Tots!!!! 06/25/2006 at 05:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These Tater Tots are very tasty and family approved!!! top tarters 06/25/2006 at 12:05pm User: Robert from Southington, CT User Rating: Outstanding!!! TASTY TATERS 06/24/2006 at 03:25pm User: B from muskogee, OK User Rating: Very easy to make and my family thought it was a tasty change to plain ol' tater tots. MMMMmmmm 06/23/2007 at 10:12pm User: Vena from Waterford, MI User Rating: These were really good! A fast and yummy alternative to the traditional tot. I did broil the tots for the last 5 minutes on Low...just to make them extra crisy :) Better than ketchup 06/16/2007 at 11:35pm User: Raulie from Golden Valley, MN User Rating: I have made these serval times. They are really good! Super easy to make and something diffent. And jeers to all who hated this recipe. For one thing Guy is not a short order cook. He is an owner of a restaraunt. And to the girl who said what next, MICROWAVE PANCAKES? Yes When I was growing up they did have microwave pancakes with syrup in the box! Hey I don't see these people trying out for next Food Network Star!!!!!!!!!! awesome 05/30/2008 at 08:33pm User: louise from westminster, VT User Rating: This is the first time I have reviewed a recipe. Some folks have given this recipe a bad review.........I loved it and I am not a tater tot fan. I used some garlic powder on the tots before they went in the oven..........i cooked them a little longer and they were crispy. My family loved them and I will certainly make them again. These are money Guy. New Taste YUM 05/29/2008 at 02:38pm User: Jean from Bisbee, AZ User Rating: Made the entire recipes (flank steak, etc.) and had never ever used Tater Tots - great stuff - loved them - just 'discovered' Guy and he now seems to be our sole chef - great stuff Guy keep up the good work - sick of recipes dating back to 2004 on T.V. - you are current and "with it" Thanks!!!! Love that Guy! 05/28/2008 at 06:07pm User: Judy from Flower Mound, TX User Rating: Hadn't thought of these little gems in ages. Good idea for a quick, tasty side dish. This show is very entertaining. You grumpy people that pick apart everything that doesn't fit your idea of a good cooking show need to be a little kinder as several other reviewers wrote. Just rate the recipes and keep your negative comments to yourself about the cook/chef and/or the show. Kids loved them 03/26/2007 at 11:52am User: Anonymous User Rating: Very easy and the kids loved them. I of course used extra cheese and just spoinkled the garlic on top of them I found it a bit hard to toss the tots, they wanted to fall apart. Change Up 03/01/2008 at 11:20pm User: Paul from maitland, FL User Rating: I used truffle oil instead of olive oil and skipped the garlic. We really enjoyed it. Next time I am going to leave the garlic but not raw. Great! 02/11/2008 at 07:55pm User: Rachel from Olive Branch, MS User Rating: I love Guy's recipes. These were great with grilled burgers and also good to have with BBQ chicken and corn. I have to laugh 02/11/2008 at 05:48pm User: jennifer from st paul, MN User Rating: I have a 2 year old. She lives on Tater Tots...or so it seems. I made these and she ate more than usual and now she will not eat them plain. While I love making gourmet recipes for my husband and meself, I need good dieas for easy and quick things that a toddler will like. The first day I made them, my brother was over and I had to make extra...he loved them as well. My husband does not care for frozen taters, so he did not care for them. Thanks it was a hit 02/03/2008 at 03:55pm User: Anonymous User Rating: it was fast eazy and great always a favorite 01/25/2007 at 02:15pm User: Samee from Ne Phila, OH User Rating: You can never go wrong with this as a side dish even kids wil enjoy it, just follow the recipe exactually This is a Food Network Star???? 01/22/2007 at 01:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Horrendous recipes on this show! What a waste of time! Now Why Didn't I Think Of That? 01/21/2008 at 11:54am User: Anonymous User Rating: So simple, so easy, why didn't I think of this? Great idea Guy! Thanks Amazing! 01/08/2007 at 01:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These are like tater tots gone fancy...and yummy! They are so good. Both my husband and I love garlic, so we love them. The only reason someone wouldn't love this recipe is if they were not big fans of garlic. I'm sure you could cut back. But these are great served with burgers, chicken, anything! We love them! |
