Tasty...But added some 06/12/2008 at 01:37pm User: Tiffany from Fort Knox, KY User Rating: So this was really tasty. I added Franks Red Hot Sauce and some Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce...i used McCormick Hickory BBQ wing packet. These are delicious.... Try it out and then try your own interpretation!!! Yuck 10/24/2007 at 07:06am User: Anonymous User Rating: Even though the marinade tasted good after everything was mixed together, when the wings were finished baking they were very bland. We ate three and threw the rest out. What a waste of time and money! Great recipe with a little twist 04/08/2007 at 02:48pm User: Tory from lenoir, NC User Rating: I made these for Easter dinner. I was a little uneasy about making these due to the variety of comments, but I did. We all loved these. I did marinade them overnight and used Texas Pete and used the whole bottle of hot sauce, but it still did not make them spicy. Maybe you might want to try a hotter sauce for those who love HOT! I grilled them on grill instead of the oven; they were much better this way. I did also brush them lighly with BBQ sauce(Sweet Baby Rays). Took about 30 mins to grill. Try them this way. They were not sour, dry, or falling off the bone as some wrote. Try for yourself. Great Wings! 02/24/2007 at 07:17pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Easy and a really enjoyable appetizer wing. As close to restaurant wings as you can find. Perfect for teething infants 02/16/2007 at 03:46pm User: Kimber from Kent, WA User Rating: I was pretty much at the end of my rope at last weekends NASCAR party as my little one was teething and would not stop crying. I finally gave him one of these Buttermilk Wings (the little drumstick kind) and he finally calmed down! The wings are so soft and mild that they are the perfect pacifier for teething babies. Plus they are a good source of protein for them. Sorry, this didn't work for us. 02/07/2007 at 10:05am User: Anonymous User Rating: Followed the recipe to the letter. while the wings were tender, they just did not deliver the flavor I had expected. Great recipe - with a few changes. 02/05/2007 at 04:47pm User: Joanne from Mesa, AZ User Rating: When I read the reviews for this recipe, I was a little worried. It seems like people either love or hate this recipe. Turns out this recipe is fantastic - at least the way that I made it. First off, I marinated the wings overnight. I don't know if this helped or not, but I'm going to say it did. Secondly, do not - I repeat - DO NOT bake these wings. They will turn out flabby and flavourless like many of the other reviewers said. I don't care what Sandra says, baking is not a good subsitute for grilling. Last of all, While I was grilling these wings, it didn't seem like much of the marinade was sticking to them. So to boost the flavour, I took equal amounts of Frank's Hot Sauce, and melted butter, mixed them, and brushed the wings with them during the last 10 minutes of grilling. All of these things combined made for some delicious wings that got gobbled up in less time than it took to cook them. They weren't "blow-your-head-off" spicy, just very flavourful with the perfect amount of kick to them. Not so good 02/02/2007 at 07:34pm User: Anonymous User Rating: No flavor, burned easily under broiler. Will not make again. Very Disappointing 01/26/2007 at 11:51am User: Anonymous User Rating: The wings were so bland! We were so disappointed in them. They were also way too soft for our taste. We need a much better recipe for next weekend. Go Bears! Finally great wings! 01/24/2007 at 01:15pm User: CATERINA from San Pedro, CA User Rating: Easy to prepare, even kids loved it and looks great on table. "Sauce" thickens and tastes even better next day! wonderful! 01/22/2007 at 09:41pm User: dovie from richmond, CA User Rating: THE WINGS WERE A HIT WITH MY FAMILY THEY HAD GREAT FLAVOR AND WERE NOT THAT HOT THEY WERE JUST RIGHT. I PUT MINE ON BROIL THEN BAKED THEM POURING OFF THE JUICE UNTIL THEY WERE CRISPY AND NOT TOO SOFT, I PLAN TO HAVE THESE FOR SUPER BOWL GAME. Very Disappointed in these BLAND Wings 01/22/2007 at 03:56pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Made a huge btach for the football games yesterday and they were the blandest tasting chicken wings I've ever eaten. Unless you're on some kind of special diet, you'll probably want to try a different recipe. actually very good!!!! 01/22/2007 at 12:18am User: MELISSA from Chicago, IL User Rating: Tasted very good for only marinating for four hours, but should have marinated overnight. Still was a great hit and would definately serve them again. Thank you Sandra Lee!!!! good hot wings 12/15/2006 at 02:58pm User: lloyd from bolivar, TN User Rating: the easy and good chicken wings that i have had in a long time. this is a great recipe. Flabby and Tasteless 12/13/2006 at 02:34pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is probably the worst wing recipe I've ever tried. The wings were too bland and very flabby. We like em cripsy and spicy. Will use a differetn recipe. GREAT WINGS!! 12/07/2006 at 09:27am User: tonya from danville, VA User Rating: I FIXED THESE FOR MY FAMILY...THEY LOVED THEM!!! VERY FAST AND EASY!! I DID HOWEVER ADD EXTRA SEASONINGS. AN EXTRA PACK OF WING SEASON AND EXTRA HOT SAUCE TO SUIT OUR TASTE...BUT GREAT RECIPE!!!! WILL MAKE FOR POT LUCKS AND XMAS EVE PARTY!!! Gotta luv them wings 12/06/2006 at 04:02pm User: Debbie from Hudson, FL User Rating: I make these for my family at least once a month. They love them! Right before they go on the grill I add a shot or two of extra hot sauce. YUMMY Yummy, but not Blazin'! 08/15/2006 at 12:52am User: Anonymous User Rating: I made these on the grill and they were great, my husband really liked them too. They did not, however, taste hot or have the "buffalo" flavor I expected. Great grilled chicken, though! Milky and bland 08/14/2006 at 01:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Very surpised at how these tasted. NOT GOOD! e.t 08/13/2006 at 09:46pm User: Anonymous User Rating: fast and easy to cook, but something was missing. Kind of tastless. great baked wings 08/11/2006 at 02:41pm User: sheila from manning, SC User Rating: These are great. Everytime I make these never a left over!Easy Excellent & soo tastee! We were disappointed by these, too 08/08/2006 at 12:21pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Certainly thought they's have a lot more flavor. So NOT "Blazin" 08/01/2006 at 02:59pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These were tepid and bland tasting. No hint of flavor or heat. Very disappointing 07/28/2006 at 01:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We thought they would be much better than they were. Bland and tasteless 07/26/2006 at 08:57pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Not very good. We prefer the frozen kind. Buttermilk Bad 07/21/2006 at 12:50pm User: Varla from Raydon, TN User Rating: I've fried chicken marinated in buttermilk but buttermilk and hot sauce and hot seasoning on grilled wings was not to our liking. Just not that good 07/18/2006 at 02:04pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Made a double batch for the neighbor's poolparty and have over half still leftover. They really weren't that good, I am afraid. I tried these twice 07/17/2006 at 08:21pm User: Mathilda from Gillespie, CT User Rating: The first time they weren't that great so the second time I marinated the wings in blue chesse dressing and used the buttermilk as a dipping sauce. It was better, but my hubby asked me not to make either again. We much prefer her other hot wing recipe 07/17/2006 at 02:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Her other hot wing recipe has loads more taste. So does her teriyaki wing recipe, which isn't spicy but is incredibly delicious. I'd recommend them both over this one. Strange 07/17/2006 at 02:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We thought it was strange that these wings had so little flavor. wow!!!!!!!!! 07/17/2006 at 02:40am User: Anonymous User Rating: These were excellent! Very poor wings 07/16/2006 at 10:34pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We'll just have the wings at the local pub next time we get a craving. These were a waste of time. My guests turned up their noses at these 07/16/2006 at 05:50pm User: Indie from Liilesford, TN User Rating: After one taste, I understood why. I sent my hubby to the grocery store to pick up a box of the frozen ones. They were much easier and tasted 3,000 percent better. simple to make 07/15/2006 at 02:56pm User: Anonymous User Rating: delicious to eat! haven't had better hot wings 07/15/2006 at 01:11pm User: Anonymous User Rating: anywhere! so 07/15/2006 at 12:11pm User: Anonymous User Rating: yummy! tender juicy and tasty 07/15/2006 at 11:42am User: Anonymous User Rating: five HUGE stars for these. thx for a fantastic wings recipe! full of wonderful taste 07/15/2006 at 01:08am User: Anonymous User Rating: just simply good. one for the do-over file! oh! 07/15/2006 at 12:39am User: Anonymous User Rating: these are good! Like pow in your mouth but in a good way. Recommended. These were so 07/14/2006 at 11:42pm User: Anonymous User Rating: so YUMMO this marinade 07/14/2006 at 11:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: is so incredible. It imparts so much flavor into the chicken! True keeper of a recipe. These don't even compare to Buffalo wings 07/14/2006 at 10:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: they are so much better for one thing! IMO. and they are a completely different recipe. LOVED them! My guests and me 07/14/2006 at 09:42pm User: Anonymous User Rating: thought these wings were absolutely terrific. They taste awesomely wonderful. Thanks! I will definitely be making these again for future parties, and just as a good snack for the family. out of this world delectable!! 07/14/2006 at 09:18pm User: Anonymous User Rating: four stars! Nifty! 07/14/2006 at 08:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These wings were so nifty and good. Easy Excellent Wings 07/14/2006 at 07:20pm User: Jan from Boca Raton, FL User Rating: My family is splt on mild or hot wings. This recipe is perfect for both! The buttermilk and seasoning blend is tenderizing and just enough heat for the "mild" lovers. I drizzled a little extra "store bought" wing sauce (we used Ashanti Wing Sauce) on the ones for the "hot" lovers. I broiled my wings in the oven about 15 min. on each side on large sheet pans. So tender and easy to prepare. Everyone raved! Served with blue cheese and Waldorf slaw. A hit!! SALTY! 07/14/2006 at 02:12pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The marinade was much too salty -- made the chicken close to inedible. Couldn't find the buffalo seasoning 07/14/2006 at 11:36am User: Anonymous User Rating: So I left it out. They weren't very good. BLAH NEEDED MORE FLAVOR 07/14/2006 at 11:27am User: Loretta from Lubbock, TX User Rating: Brought to our neighborhood potluck. I thought they were ok, but people said they would have been better with more hot sauce or some BBQ sauce. Just not that good 07/14/2006 at 11:20am User: Tiffnee from Detroit, MI User Rating: Sorry, but we didn't think these were any good at all. Certainly not as good as her other wing recipes. SOUR!!! 07/14/2006 at 11:17am User: Anonymous User Rating: The buttermilk made these wings quite sour-tasting. Flavorless and rubbery 07/14/2006 at 11:16am User: Anonymous User Rating: We were very disappointed in how these turned out. success! 07/14/2006 at 12:01am User: Anonymous User Rating: successful outcome. Not one person did not love this recipe for hot buttermilk wings. Thank you for sharing it. perfect wings 07/13/2006 at 11:24pm User: Anonymous User Rating: these are buttermilk wings not buffalo wings. They are yummolicious!!! be prepared 07/13/2006 at 10:22pm User: Anonymous User Rating: make alot!!! At a recent party I had, these were one of the favs on the appetizer table, and I ran out :( Never again!!!! I'll have more marinating in the fridge. They cook up in a flash, so it'll be easy. I made these today for lunch 07/13/2006 at 09:47pm User: Anonymous User Rating: and honestly, in my opinion, they were delectable and had lots of flavor. I was on cloud none eating these 07/13/2006 at 09:06pm User: Anonymous User Rating: my husband loved them too :) THX! We thought these were terrific 07/13/2006 at 08:48pm User: Anonymous User Rating: and these are a delicious way to eat your protein! These were blazin' buttermilk wings 07/13/2006 at 08:26pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I liked them better than Buffalo wings!!! mushy and rubbery 07/13/2006 at 06:48pm User: elizabeth from brooklyn, NY User Rating: I knew these wings wouldn't taste like real buffalo wings because they weren't fried, but these could have been the worst things I have ever eaten. No flavor - very soggy 07/13/2006 at 03:40pm User: Jennifer from Renton, WA User Rating: I've very disappointed in this recipe - chicken has no flavor and was soggy. Not sure what to do now with 4 lbs of chicken - hopefully I can find something flavorful to put on them to make them edible. Below average taste 07/13/2006 at 11:37am User: Ari from Northbrook, IL User Rating: I'd rate these wings somewhat below average in taste. Also, a note that this recipe does not make enough marinade to totally cover 4 pounds of wings. Be prepared for lots of leftovers 07/13/2006 at 11:08am User: Anonymous User Rating: Most people will choose to eat something else (anything else), if it's available. That was my experience. irresistable 07/13/2006 at 12:30am User: Anonymous User Rating: I made these and will again! The taste is awesome. super great 07/12/2006 at 11:31pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These were so great. Everybody wanted more!!! I've learned my lesson. If you make these for a crowd, make ALOT. every picture tells a story 07/12/2006 at 11:12pm User: Anonymous User Rating: and that picture tells a story of great hot wings! We loved 'em and we aren't sorry we did!! No one liked these 07/12/2006 at 03:36pm User: Tammee from Midwest City, OK User Rating: Sorry Very bad texture 07/12/2006 at 12:10pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I think marinating them overnight was too much since the next day the meat was very soft and mushy and not in a good way. We cooked 'em anyway, though. The flavor was good, but the texture was not -- mealy and soft. Next time I will only let them sit in the buttermilk for a few hours, as there is only a small amount of meat on each drummette. Frustrating! 07/12/2006 at 11:13am User: Jenevieve from Drune, SD User Rating: Another wing recipe with very little taste! It had heat, but no taste, except sourness from the buttrmilk. Not quite as 07/11/2006 at 11:54pm User: Anonymous User Rating: puke-inducing as most of her recipes. Still pretty bad though (at least my family thought so.) ;-) bettermilk makes everything better! 07/11/2006 at 11:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: at least it does fried chicken, pancakes and ranch dressing. AND NOW hotwings thanks to this delish recipe! flamin' goodness! 07/11/2006 at 11:13pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These were flamin'good! everyone loved these 07/11/2006 at 10:47pm User: Anonymous User Rating: thx! dairy allergy 07/11/2006 at 04:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: coffee creamer, mirin, rice vinegar, hot sauce, melted margerine, chili powder, salt, lemon pepper and goya seasoning. marinate overnite. toss lightly with flour and/or corn starch. grill or fry. enjoy! Just OK 07/11/2006 at 11:45am User: Anonymous User Rating: A bit too spicy and salty for us. Won't make again. Rubbery 07/11/2006 at 11:36am User: Ted from Arlington, MA User Rating: We thought the wings were too rubbery and the package seasoning left a bad metallic taste in our mouths. I would definitely leave that out. The taste of these wings totally belies 07/10/2006 at 10:18pm User: Anonymous User Rating: the ease of prep involved in making them. They are fantabulous! These are the best wings ever!! 07/10/2006 at 10:02pm User: Anonymous User Rating: and much healthier that fried. My family thought they were yummo! Wonderful! 07/10/2006 at 05:49pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Just delicious! Will make again soon. Necessary adjustment didn't hurt it 07/10/2006 at 04:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Being kosher, I had to replace the buttermilk with soy milk combined with a little tofu based sour cream substitute. And as I couldn't find the seasoning packet with appropriate hechsher, I used my regular chili powder and added some cayenne and paprika. It didn't taste any funnier than anything else we make with the substitution of soy based products. Of course, we couldn't use the bleu cheese dip so I can't review that. I won't make this again, but then again, I rarely do repeat a Sandra Lee recipe. The worst wings EVER 07/10/2006 at 01:37am User: Anonymous User Rating: These were disgusting. :( crowd pleasing hot wings 07/09/2006 at 05:58pm User: Anonymous User Rating: they are delish! The Wind 07/09/2006 at 04:45pm User: BessyB from BOWLEGS, OK User Rating: Wasn't beneath my wings after eating these...When none of us could blame it on the dog any longer, we threw the rest of the wings out. two thumbs up 07/09/2006 at 04:18pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My family gave these wings two big thumbs up! impressive 07/09/2006 at 03:59pm User: Anonymous User Rating: tasting chicken! great buttermilk 07/09/2006 at 03:35pm User: Anonymous User Rating: wings! :) serioulsy 07/09/2006 at 02:22pm User: Anonymous User Rating: the best hot wings I've ever had! I used this batter on big chicken pieces 07/09/2006 at 02:05pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Best fried chicken ever :) Expected much better 07/09/2006 at 02:01pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These were ok, but really not that tasty. I expected them to be a whole lot better. Outrageous 07/09/2006 at 01:45pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We thought these were outrageously good!!! I couldn't find the dressing she recommended, but Kraft worked for us. perfect amount of heat 07/09/2006 at 01:27pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These wings have kick! Simply marvelous. five star wings 07/09/2006 at 01:09pm User: Anonymous User Rating: amazingly good flavor. WOW!!! 07/09/2006 at 12:47pm User: Anonymous User Rating: These wings were just excellent! good flavor 07/09/2006 at 12:26pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We liked these wings. This recipe WAS good 07/08/2006 at 11:54am User: Anonymous User Rating: Followed recipe as directed. Family loved them as did office party. Had to give recipe to co-workers and no wings were left. I only made 2 dozen. Keep up the good work Sara! And thanks for ALL of the recipes you share with us. Where do you buy buffalo seasoning? 07/07/2006 at 09:08pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I couldn't find a buffalo wing seasoning packet at the store so I used the closest thing (or so I thought) which was a chili con carne packet. They were ok, but had a funky color and odor. |
