I added a little cognac to the marinade and a little more to the sauce and they were grate. Yummo!

The ribs were tough and the sauce tasted like paint thinner

These were very bad; possibly the worst ever.

the ribs were pale and anemic looking

they did not brown up well and cooking for 1 hr 45 min left them very dry.

Very tough

The meat was very tough and the marinade left the ribs with a very strange taste that no one liked. Skip this recipe.

Very subpar

The meat was extremely chewy and tough and the taste was a confusing asault of flavors that didn't go well together.

Tangerine Teriyaki Ribs

I am not experienced with cooking ribs. I love ribs. This recipe was simple and the meat was sooooooooo tender, however I baked it a bit longer in the oven then suggested with great results. I could not find tangerine juice in my local grocery stores so I substituted apricot juice and it was still good. I felt it lacked something in the taste so the next time I prepare them I am going to spice it up with a different flavor of BBQ sauce and perhaps a different marinade flavor. Overall...great recipe!

Very, very tough

These ribs came out very tough and dry, while also being somewhat fatty. We like more tender, succulant ribs so will use another recipe. Or will boil them first.

Made a complete mess

I don't think you're supposed to use the hickory chips in the oven.

These ribs were very tough

I didn't use anything but regular BBQ sauce and still they were sooooooo tough.

Very Disappointing

Both the flavor and the incredible toughness of the ribs left us very disappointed. They were almost too tough to eat.

great flavors in the sauce and I liked this cooking method

The hickory made the ribs extra tasty and they were fall off the bone tender!

Unfortunate mix of flavors

The tangerine and teriyaki and BBQ sauce weren't that great together. I'll stick with plain BBQ sauce next time and use her other rib recipe instead.

I really liked these ribs as did my son. I didn't have any trouble with them being too tough. Don't know why. I cooked them as the recipe suggested and they were tender and so good.

by request because I thought the glaze sounded good. He had to agree that these rivaled his best ribs!! They were fall of the bone tender (2 1/2 hours cooking time does that to meat!) and so tasty.

These were some mean tasting ribs

These were just so awful, I don't know where to start. They tasted terrible, they burned while grilling thanks to all the sauce, they weren't done in the time given and they were very very tough. Definitely not recommended.

Very disappointing

We prefer tender "fall off the bone" type ribs. These were not. We also did not care for the ginger marinade, especially wioth the tomato BBQ sauce we used. No one would eat these, even my 2 teenage sons.

I don't know if it was the hickory chips or the outstanding glaze that made these so good. I guess it was the combination of both!

Tasted Terrible!

User: Dyannna from Seal Beach, CA    User Rating:
The ribs tasted horrible. Teriyaki and BBQ sauce are a bad combination but then when you add the juice (I had to use orange) you have something quite sickening on your hands.

These turned out so tough!

And what a strange taste -- that would take some getting used to. I am going back to her other falling-off-the-bone tender rib recipe. It's superb. This one isn't.

Texture was Horrible

The meat was, in fact, very tough but also had an unappetizing mealiness to it. The sauce was just amazingly bad -- tastewise -- and was also essentially a pool of grease.

The citrus marinade turned the meat to pulp. Two hours cooking and it was still raw in the center. This was inedible.

We like our ribs "falling off the bone" so these didn't work for us
01/26/2007 at 11:54am

These ribs cooked up much too tough for us. We sort of liked the taste of the sauce but it was very greasy and a funny orange color that didn't look too good.

Very tough ribs. Had hard time gnawing meat off the bone. The sauce was greasy and didn't taste all that great.
