Big hit

I made this for my in-laws and it was a huge hit. I loved the different textures but thought the dressing could use a bit more flavor.

Worth A Chance!!

This is a delicious slaw! Ignore the other reviews and give this recipe a chance. It is REALLY TASTY and refreshing. My son, who usually hates cole slaw, also loved this recipe. I used "Brianna's Poppy Sead Dressing"(www.BriannasSaladDressing.com)that I found at the local grocery and it is simply incredible with this mix. We will definately make this one again!!

SO EASY & DELICIOUS!!! THIS ONE'S A KEEPER!

If you like coleslaw and/or waldorf salad, you will really like this salad! It is delicious, not to mention very easy. I followed recipe exactly, other than adding some golden raisins for bites of sweetness in the salad & it was delicious!! had never used poppy seed dressing before but I will definitely be making this again! If you follow her recipe, you will have a delicious salad, nothing like the negative reviews say. this was NOT bland, runny/grey/watery, etc. it was a very good salad! Thanks, Sandra Lee!

I make this for my family two or three times a month in the summer. I like to add a splash of cider vinegar to the dressing mix. I also use this recipe for parties because it is an inexpensive side that can be doubled to feed a lot of people.

User: Susan from Libertyville, IL    User Rating:
This was so easy to make and it tasted very refreshing at the end of a hot, hot day with barbaqued chicken. It looked wonderful. My family is not crazy for coleslaw, but with the added apple, walnuts, and sweet tang of the poppyseed dressing they enjoyed it.

Very Very Tasty Slaw

User: Lynne from Upland, CA    User Rating:
My husband & I both love cole slaw but can never find it with enough flavor. This has PLENTY! We didn't have Granny Smith apples, so used Gala apples which we thought were very good. Made 1 1/2 times the recipe for the sauce cause we like it really moist. Everyone raved about it and I sent home the leftovers (very small) against my husband's wishes. Definitely recommend!

Great Slaw!

I was amazed to read gray and watery. They did something wrong. I ate the whole thing. It was creamy, crisp and tangy. My sister, marcia and her family love it also. I want to try it with dried fruit. I even made it with golden delicious apples and couldn't ruin it.

Made this Slaw for my family tonight and we loved it. I wasn't sure about poppy seed dressing, but gosh it's really tasty & gives it such great flavor! Can never go wrong with granny smith apples either. This was super simple and super tasty. We really enjoyed this Slaw. Can't wait to make it for a family gathering as it will be a big hit. For those of you who don't like this, I'm not sure why! lol...But we all have our own tastes!

An unappealing watery mess
01/26/2007 at 11:48am
User: Opal from Revere, MA    User Rating:
Came out very watery and continued to separate into a mess after it was mixed. It also had a greyish look to it that was unappetizing. No one at the party ate more than a bite or two. NOT A KEEPER.

Loved it!
01/25/2007 at 02:05pm
User: Susan from Brookfield, WI    User Rating:
What a great change -- it was more of a salad than a slaw. I bought a high-end Poppy Seed dressing, which may have contributed to the richness and creaminess of the dressing. This one got better each day it was in the frig. I'm going to add raisins and celery next time. Will definitely make it again!

Slaw but not!

I was very skeptical to make this salad I read some of the reviews but I went ahead and made it for my last christmas party and it was a hit! I'm glad I made and I've made it 4 times after that and it's only been a week since christmas. Everyone loved it including my husband who doesn't like coleslaw. Great taste and texture.

Grey and Unappetizing

The slaw was watery and grey in color. Very unappetizing.

I have never used poppy seed dressing for slaw

it didn't give the slaw the necessary tanginess that the mayo, sugar, vinegar gives.

This coleslaw was a real disappointment. The poppyseed dressing (which I had to go to Omaha to buy, btw) made it taste very strange. We like bright, fresh flavored slaw and this tasted dull and flat.

User: briana from West Springfield, MA    User Rating:
I only tried this recipe because I happened to have all the ingredients in the fridge and had to use them up. I'm glad I did! This is tasty, healthy and refreshing! The combination of the mayo and the poppy seed dressing is a pleasent alternative to those of us who hate Miracle Whip. Mine was not watery at all. I did use fresh cabbage though, that packaged stuff is terrible.

I figured out how to make this f'ntastic
07/24/2006 at 04:00pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I replaced the bottled poppy seed dressing with a packet of poppy seed dressing mix and used whipped topping mix instead of mayo. I also replaced the chopped apple with candied orange segments and the nuts with honey roasted cashews. I sprinkled the top with chopped radishes for color. Gourmet or gourmetesque? You be the judge!

User: Lois from Fridley, MN    User Rating:
The apples were a nice touch, but there was way too much dressing, which made the slaw rather runny. I also thought the poppy seed salad dressing was not a good choice; I think a dressing with more flavor would have worked better.

Poppy seed dressing isn't all that flavorful on its own, and mixing it with mayo doesn't help one bit. I prefer to have some flavor in my food.

This is very similar to a recipe in Richard Simmons' "Groovin' the Flab Away" cookbook. His calls for craisins, celery hearts, shredded white meat chicken, nutmeg and fat-free mayo. We fell in love with it on one of his "Disco Blast Off" cruises! This recipe wasn't nearly as exciting.

Mini marshmellows added an extra elegant touch. Lime gelatin graced the edges for an unforgetable feast for the eyes and palette. Essence of frozen whipped topping still floats though my mind as I recall my journey to Waldorf. Thank you for the adventure like no other on the planet.
