Loved the twist of having the basil-flavored simple syrup...however, the lemonade was so thick using the proportions she suggests...we used one part syrup, one part lemon juice, and three(+) parts water. it was MUCH better!

I made this at a BBQ and it turned out fabulous. Many people not only enjoyed it, but requested the recipe. It's a wonderful twist to lemonade. The recipe itself makes a small portion, so I recommend doubling or even tripling the recipe. Also, the recipe itself makes a very concentrated lemonade, so I diluted mine...a lot. Wonderful!!!

I've had this lemonade before at authentic Italian restaurants and at work from our caterers, served at large meetings. I always love it, just a hint of the basil goes really well with lemon. I knew 12 lemons was way too much so I only juiced half the recipe. Also half the simple syrup was enough for one pitcher. I used this recipe to make 2 pitchers which was just perfect because the lemonade was gone in a few minutes. For the basil if you don't like it, don't add it. I didn't use enough so I just had a hint of the flavor at the end. You really need a large bunch of basil. This is definitely a favorite among all my friends now.

This is the best Lemonade that I have ever tasted. I made a batch for work last week and everyone thought it was delicious. Today on Monday, July 9, 2007 my friend Cat said that she had been thinking about the Lemonade I had made all weekend. I said I would print her a copy of the recipe so she could make it herself.

I happened to catch this episode awhile ago and I've used this recipe several times since then. What an amazing beverage! The mint really rounds this beverage out, and it goes down smooth on a hot Summer's day.

If I could give this a 10 I would! It's excellent, you can even spike it up with white rum or vodka, but you and your guests will love this one. Like an Italian soda with the sophisticated hint of basil! WOW!!

I made this for a dinner party, and everyone loved it. My Dad said it was like an exotic mixed drink. He raved. I never would have believed using fresh basil would make such a difference. You have to try this. If you don't like Lemon don't try it.

This recipe is so delicious and refreshing. I made a spiked version (vodka) for a small dinner party and I ran out in 15 minutes. I made two more double batches and those were also gone before the main course was served.

This is such a great recipe to really make a classic drink more special. The basil simple syrup is wonderful and adds a fragrant flavor to it. I would suggest adjusting the amount of water/sparkling water to your taste (personally i don't like a very concentrated lemonade).

This was easy to make, and with a lot of fresh lemons and basil, it made a different sort of lemonade. Not too tart, not too sweet and the basil adds a nice complexity. I used Meyer lemons, which aren't quite as tart as the Eurekas you find in the store.

everyone that i have served this to has loved it. my younger son though poured himself to much in cup and put it in the freezer. well it became an instant lemon icy. now when guest come over i either serve as a drink or dessert and it's always a great treat.

This was really good, and really refreshing. My only gripe...I think there was too much lemon. It was overpowering before I added some tap water. Other than that, it was very good! The basil added some subtle sophistication along with the Pelligrino. I will make this again soon to battle the exhausting heat of the St. Louis summer!

Every now and again I come across a recipe that picks me up and drops me smack dab in the middle of sunny Italy. This is one of those recipes. With a cooling lemon punch and sweet basil as a delightful afterthought this is the best beverage so far this summer. Test for sweetnesss, though. I prefer it using only half the simple syrup,, so let your taste be your guide. But be sure to try this one, you will not be disappointed. Brava, Giada!

I thought this recipe was delicious. The hint of basil in the lemonade. I garnished the top with a basil leaf so that everytime you take a drink you smell the basil.

The recipe is very good, but I think I might have used too much basil but otherwise it's delicious and very refreshing. Much better with the sparkling water instead of regular water. It kind of adds something to it.

This recipe was pretty good and I like the unique hint of basil-- something very different. It was a bit too sweet for me even after I diluted it with ice. Next time, I'll try using less sugar or even a sugar substitute to see what that does. Worth making again.
