Lovely Lemonade 07/04/2008 at 12:49pm User: Sherri L from Albuquerque, NM User Rating: It looks great and I can already taste it! I'll be making it soon! Great flavor, but too concentrated 06/28/2008 at 12:00am User: Courtney from Waco, TX User Rating: Loved the twist of having the basil-flavored simple syrup...however, the lemonade was so thick using the proportions she suggests...we used one part syrup, one part lemon juice, and three(+) parts water. it was MUCH better! Sweet Sweet Lemonade 06/24/2008 at 04:15pm User: Greg from Pearland, TX User Rating: Loved it. It had a different taste and was the favorite at the party. Cut the sugar in half to make in not so sweet. Crowd Loved It! 04/21/2008 at 03:03pm User: Pauline from Manor, TX User Rating: I made this at a BBQ and it turned out fabulous. Many people not only enjoyed it, but requested the recipe. It's a wonderful twist to lemonade. The recipe itself makes a small portion, so I recommend doubling or even tripling the recipe. Also, the recipe itself makes a very concentrated lemonade, so I diluted mine...a lot. Wonderful!!! basil in lemonade 08/16/2007 at 02:29pm User: Karen from Havertown, PA User Rating: WOW!!!A hit for family reunion. Made it everyday. Store ran out of Basil!!! A pleaser for everyone to enjoy! 07/29/2007 at 11:41am User: Sandy from Forest Hills, NY User Rating: I've had this lemonade before at authentic Italian restaurants and at work from our caterers, served at large meetings. I always love it, just a hint of the basil goes really well with lemon. I knew 12 lemons was way too much so I only juiced half the recipe. Also half the simple syrup was enough for one pitcher. I used this recipe to make 2 pitchers which was just perfect because the lemonade was gone in a few minutes. For the basil if you don't like it, don't add it. I didn't use enough so I just had a hint of the flavor at the end. You really need a large bunch of basil. This is definitely a favorite among all my friends now. Delicious 07/26/2007 at 09:55am User: Peggy from gahanna, OH User Rating: I made this for the pregnant women when I had a wine/cheese party. Everyone loved it; giving the wines a run for their money. Refreshing 07/14/2007 at 01:45pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Nice summer drink. Does anyone know how I can find those nice stemmed glasses? Delicious Lemonade 07/09/2007 at 03:41pm User: Pamela from Catlett, VA User Rating: This is the best Lemonade that I have ever tasted. I made a batch for work last week and everyone thought it was delicious. Today on Monday, July 9, 2007 my friend Cat said that she had been thinking about the Lemonade I had made all weekend. I said I would print her a copy of the recipe so she could make it herself. What a different flavor! 07/05/2007 at 09:49am User: Anonymous User Rating: I tried this recipe and it was a little too much for my taste, but when I modified my own recipe with basil leaves in the simple syrup, the flavor was phenomenal. Thank you, Giada! Crisp and refreshing 07/03/2007 at 07:08pm User: Jon from Sacramento, CA User Rating: I happened to catch this episode awhile ago and I've used this recipe several times since then. What an amazing beverage! The mint really rounds this beverage out, and it goes down smooth on a hot Summer's day. Excellent 06/29/2007 at 09:22pm User: jane from los angeles, CA User Rating: The only thing I did differently was that I added more water because it was a bit too concentrated. Once I did that it was perfect! iffy 06/24/2007 at 10:12pm User: Anonymous User Rating: dk whether its too sour or sweet Sophisticated and delicious 06/24/2007 at 04:55pm User: Anonymous User Rating: If I could give this a 10 I would! It's excellent, you can even spike it up with white rum or vodka, but you and your guests will love this one. Like an Italian soda with the sophisticated hint of basil! WOW!! Basil in my lemonade? 06/24/2007 at 03:54pm User: Taffy from Greencastle, PA User Rating: YES! What a refreshing surprise! My husband loved it too. Next time I'll garnish it with basil leaves. Best Lemonade Ever! 06/19/2007 at 02:26pm User: Carol from Troy, MI User Rating: I made this for a dinner party, and everyone loved it. My Dad said it was like an exotic mixed drink. He raved. I never would have believed using fresh basil would make such a difference. You have to try this. If you don't like Lemon don't try it. Deliciously Different! 06/17/2007 at 10:10pm User: Pamela from Boca Raton, FL User Rating: Served this at a small cookout & it was well received. Everyone was intrigued by the basil flavor and it disappeared quickly. So refreshing! 05/11/2007 at 03:19pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe is so delicious and refreshing. I made a spiked version (vodka) for a small dinner party and I ran out in 15 minutes. I made two more double batches and those were also gone before the main course was served. Tasty Lemonade 03/01/2007 at 03:53pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The best lemonade I have ever made thanks to this recipe from Giada. It really reminds me of a summer day! The basil adds a beautiful flavor 01/06/2007 at 07:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is such a great recipe to really make a classic drink more special. The basil simple syrup is wonderful and adds a fragrant flavor to it. I would suggest adjusting the amount of water/sparkling water to your taste (personally i don't like a very concentrated lemonade). A different take on lemonade 01/01/2007 at 06:20pm User: John from Mission Viejo, CA User Rating: This was easy to make, and with a lot of fresh lemons and basil, it made a different sort of lemonade. Not too tart, not too sweet and the basil adds a nice complexity. I used Meyer lemons, which aren't quite as tart as the Eurekas you find in the store. Not Good 11/01/2006 at 04:45pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I can't believe it, but this drink is not good at all. Usually Giada's recipes are no-fail, but not this one. gia/lakeland,fl 10/05/2006 at 09:40am User: GIANILDA from lakeland, FL User Rating: everyone that i have served this to has loved it. my younger son though poured himself to much in cup and put it in the freezer. well it became an instant lemon icy. now when guest come over i either serve as a drink or dessert and it's always a great treat. lovely 09/30/2006 at 06:54pm User: jena from plam beach, FL User Rating: nice delicious lemony trifle 09/29/2006 at 11:57am User: Anonymous User Rating: My family LOVED it! The only downside was the difficult to find Creme de Cassis. So Sweet 09/17/2006 at 08:02am User: laurel from Fredericksburg, VA User Rating: I absolutely loved it. A little too 'thick' 09/11/2006 at 08:20pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was a little too thick for my taste- however I rated it a five because I added more water and it was absolutly delicious- a new family favorite! Loved It! 09/07/2006 at 11:10am User: Amanda from Boise, ID User Rating: This tasted as good as it looked on the show, just a little sweet. It seemed to be sweeter on the second day, although that could be me. My husband wasn't a fan, but my 6-yr old son loved it, too. excellent 09/04/2006 at 01:41pm User: LAURIE from brooklyn, NY User Rating: I used 8 lemons instead of 12 but the taste is fabulous Delicious Lemonade 08/22/2006 at 07:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is absolutly the best lemonade I have ever made or tasted. I wasn't quite sure about the basil at first, it really makes it. Thank You, Toni Too Good. 08/07/2006 at 01:20am User: Paul from St. Louis, MO User Rating: This was really good, and really refreshing. My only gripe...I think there was too much lemon. It was overpowering before I added some tap water. Other than that, it was very good! The basil added some subtle sophistication along with the Pelligrino. I will make this again soon to battle the exhausting heat of the St. Louis summer! Awesome on a hot day 08/06/2006 at 09:48pm User: Colleen from Austin, TX User Rating: I served this on a hot hot day in Austin and the Basil really gave it a cool refreshing taste. Tastes great except for the basil 08/04/2006 at 02:57pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The lemonade would have tasted even better if i didn't add the basil. It was just to strong for my family Delightful Drink 08/01/2006 at 06:27pm User: ADRI BARR from Sherman Oaks, CA User Rating: Every now and again I come across a recipe that picks me up and drops me smack dab in the middle of sunny Italy. This is one of those recipes. With a cooling lemon punch and sweet basil as a delightful afterthought this is the best beverage so far this summer. Test for sweetnesss, though. I prefer it using only half the simple syrup,, so let your taste be your guide. But be sure to try this one, you will not be disappointed. Brava, Giada! Best Lemonade!!!!!!!!!! 07/31/2006 at 11:07am User: Anonymous User Rating: This Italian Lemonade exudes the fresh taste of Summer...this drink has zing! So Refreshing! 07/30/2006 at 05:17pm User: Lindsey from Manhattan, KS User Rating: I thought this recipe was delicious. The hint of basil in the lemonade. I garnished the top with a basil leaf so that everytime you take a drink you smell the basil. Lemonade 07/30/2006 at 04:04pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Great What Lemonade was Meant to be! 07/30/2006 at 03:56pm User: Rachel from Farmington, UT User Rating: This is so delicious! I loved making it, it is easy, and ever SO tasty!!!! Thanks Giada! REFRESHING SUMMER DRINK 07/29/2006 at 07:06pm User: MARIA from henderson, NV User Rating: I run out of basil but instead use rosemary from my backyard. Awesome. Will try with basil next time. AWESOME!!!! 07/24/2006 at 08:29pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is a party favorite! To add a twist I even added a 1 cup of vodka to the mixture! Just awesome! Great 07/23/2006 at 10:14pm User: Tina from Roseville, MN User Rating: The recipe is very good, but I think I might have used too much basil but otherwise it's delicious and very refreshing. Much better with the sparkling water instead of regular water. It kind of adds something to it. Unique & Different 07/23/2006 at 04:06pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was pretty good and I like the unique hint of basil-- something very different. It was a bit too sweet for me even after I diluted it with ice. Next time, I'll try using less sugar or even a sugar substitute to see what that does. Worth making again. TASTY!!!!!!!! 07/23/2006 at 03:47pm User: ANNETTE from washington, UT User Rating: So good drank it all up, now need to make more. If you don't like the basil use mint. |
