Well, I love crab stew and have eaten it at 2 Sons and Bubba's Osyter house and on Tybee Island. This was not as good as any of them. It was quick and the stock I think would have had a pretty good taste except I used Bublebee canned crabmeat and it was GROSS!!!! Do not mess up your soup with canned crab. If you can't buy the fresh, forget it. I will make it again but will use fresh lumbed crab. I am throwing out the batch I made last night.

This was so fast and tasted wonderful! A big hit w/our out of town northern guests who expect spectacular seafood dishes when they come for visits! Tasted like I'd spent hours on it! Will definitely make again . . . soon!!

This an excellent quick version of crab stew. I gave it 4 stars only because I just came from Savannah where I had Crab Stew at the Lady and Sons and it was 5+. I'll have to try her regular version to see how it compares. Delicious.

I made this for my office staff and they loved it!! Quick, easy, tasty, comfort food. Simple ingredients, simple directions for the gifted or not so gifted in the kitchen. Yum, yum- but does Paula ever make anything that isn't? So wonderful I have already started sharing the receipe with all of my friends.

Don't let the canned soup turn you off! This soup/bisque has fabulous flavor and preparation time is unbelievably quick. My husband loved it and even suggested we prepare it as an appetizer for family get-togethers That's surely a compliment coming from him!

I made this not knowing what to expect-never had crab stew before. It was great! I couldn't find crab so used imitation/real crab mix and it was still good! I did all a little "Old Bay" seasoning to spice it up. I will make this again! Serve this with bread and salad and you have a filling, but not heavy meal!

This was very good and the best part was how fast and easy it is to make. My husband liked it a lot and suggested next time that I only put half the amount of crab in it to make it more like and oyster stew consistency= it is loaded thick with crab! Since the crab came in half pound containers this will save money and be just as good in my opinion so if you don't want to buy a full pound of crab - try it with just one container. It's really REALLY good which ever way you try it.

This is a very easy recipe with lots of great taste. It is best with Maryland Blue Crab. I used lump so it had big pieces of crab. Great meal for a cold day.

Fantastic recipe. I have also substituted a can of aspargus instead of the potato or even the celery. I kick up the spice level by adding Old Bay seasoning. Make sure you warm up extra sherry right before serving and then drizzle on top. Yummy!

If you like crab stew or soup this is for you. It is sooo easy. Crab stew is very popular in Savannah; however, it's not good everywhere you go. This recipe is great! The second time I made it I added some crushed red pepper to add a little spice to it. Both ways, it is great!

Just like every Paula Dean recipe I've made, this one is great! I have to admit I was skeptical because I don't care for canned soup. Also, the sherry, I know it's used often in seafood chowders I just had never used it myself. I'm glad I risked it. It gave the soup a totally different flavor than what I expected. Very good! I can't wait to try her pineapple casserole for tomorrow, Thanksgiving!

This recipe literally took about 15 minutes to make. My very picky family loved it and scraped the bottom of the pot to get the last drops of it. I served it with some crusty french bread and it was a hit. I will definintely be adding this as a regular item to our menu.

Although I used fresh crab meat, the soup was too fishy. The crab had a very strong taste because the other ingredients are so bland. I even tried spicing it up with seasoning, but ultimately threw it out.

This is by far the easiest and tastiest crab stew ever. Its comparable to what's served at Lady and Sons and Uncle Bubba's, but way fastest and easier to cook then the she-crab soup recipe listed in one of Paula's earlier cookbooks.
