YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST! 07/01/2008 at 07:03pm User: patricia from boiling spring, SC User Rating: I loved it,so did all of my family.like i said you are the BEST!!! Good stew but GROSS Crab 06/20/2008 at 06:30pm User: Lisa from Peachtree City, GA User Rating: Well, I love crab stew and have eaten it at 2 Sons and Bubba's Osyter house and on Tybee Island. This was not as good as any of them. It was quick and the stock I think would have had a pretty good taste except I used Bublebee canned crabmeat and it was GROSS!!!! Do not mess up your soup with canned crab. If you can't buy the fresh, forget it. I will make it again but will use fresh lumbed crab. I am throwing out the batch I made last night. HUGE HIT!! 04/28/2008 at 11:55am User: Candice from Madeira Beach, FL User Rating: This was so fast and tasted wonderful! A big hit w/our out of town northern guests who expect spectacular seafood dishes when they come for visits! Tasted like I'd spent hours on it! Will definitely make again . . . soon!! Two Crab Stews 04/14/2008 at 12:06pm User: victoria from san leandro, CA User Rating: This an excellent quick version of crab stew. I gave it 4 stars only because I just came from Savannah where I had Crab Stew at the Lady and Sons and it was 5+. I'll have to try her regular version to see how it compares. Delicious. YUMMY 01/30/2008 at 12:36pm User: Liz from Macon, GA User Rating: I made this for my office staff and they loved it!! Quick, easy, tasty, comfort food. Simple ingredients, simple directions for the gifted or not so gifted in the kitchen. Yum, yum- but does Paula ever make anything that isn't? So wonderful I have already started sharing the receipe with all of my friends. This soup/bisque has fabulous flavor and preparation time is unbelievably quick. My husband loved it and even suggested we prepare it as an appetizer for family get-togethers That's surely a compliment coming from him! Tasty, easy, a winner! 08/23/2007 at 08:03pm User: Nicole from St. Louis, MO User Rating: I made this not knowing what to expect-never had crab stew before. It was great! I couldn't find crab so used imitation/real crab mix and it was still good! I did all a little "Old Bay" seasoning to spice it up. I will make this again! Serve this with bread and salad and you have a filling, but not heavy meal! FANTASTIC!! 08/14/2007 at 07:09am User: Rachel from Prince George, VA User Rating: I have already shared this recipe with several other people and they also LOVE it. It's so easy and SOOOO good. Outstandind 04/11/2007 at 01:17pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Paula has done an excellent job with this recipe. It is perfect when you need a good hearty meal quick, but with that southern touch. Really good 03/23/2007 at 10:29am User: Anonymous User Rating: This was very good and the best part was how fast and easy it is to make. My husband liked it a lot and suggested next time that I only put half the amount of crab in it to make it more like and oyster stew consistency= it is loaded thick with crab! Since the crab came in half pound containers this will save money and be just as good in my opinion so if you don't want to buy a full pound of crab - try it with just one container. It's really REALLY good which ever way you try it. Fabulous 03/21/2007 at 12:59pm User: Doris from Owings, MD User Rating: We have made this over and over, sometimes we even add a little bit of shrimp. This is such a fabulous recipe. I substituted 1% milk instead of the cream to keep it health conscious. Couldn't even tell the difference. A huge hit with my family. . 02/06/2007 at 12:47pm User: Anonymous User Rating: . Quick and Easy 01/27/2007 at 10:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Awesome flavor and so easy!!!! I think next time I'll cut the crab in half. Didn't seem to need it all. What I have been searching for!!! 01/26/2007 at 07:25pm User: Sara from Glen Allen, VA User Rating: This stew is wonderful! I have been searching for the perfect crab bisque or chowder and this is better than any recipe I have tried. And so simple! But I'm not sure why it's called 'stew' it is more of a chowder. great 01/24/2007 at 06:15pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Easy, quick and delicious Great and Easy 01/19/2007 at 11:28am User: ROBIN from Aylett, VA User Rating: This is a very easy recipe with lots of great taste. It is best with Maryland Blue Crab. I used lump so it had big pieces of crab. Great meal for a cold day. Additions 01/19/2007 at 10:46am User: Anonymous User Rating: Fantastic recipe. I have also substituted a can of aspargus instead of the potato or even the celery. I kick up the spice level by adding Old Bay seasoning. Make sure you warm up extra sherry right before serving and then drizzle on top. Yummy! FANTASTIC 01/18/2007 at 07:39pm User: Linda from Houston, TX User Rating: My family loves this one! Superior!! 12/22/2006 at 10:46pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Quick, fast, simple, great taste. As good, if not better than some of the local cafes I eaten at on Tybee Island. Quick and Easy 12/21/2006 at 03:26pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was a quick dish and my family enjoyed it very much Tasty 12/07/2006 at 03:05pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Very easy and really good So easy & tastes great! 12/03/2006 at 09:49pm User: Sabjre from New Port Richey, FL User Rating: If you like crab stew or soup this is for you. It is sooo easy. Crab stew is very popular in Savannah; however, it's not good everywhere you go. This recipe is great! The second time I made it I added some crushed red pepper to add a little spice to it. Both ways, it is great! Yummy! 11/22/2006 at 09:18pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Just like every Paula Dean recipe I've made, this one is great! I have to admit I was skeptical because I don't care for canned soup. Also, the sherry, I know it's used often in seafood chowders I just had never used it myself. I'm glad I risked it. It gave the soup a totally different flavor than what I expected. Very good! I can't wait to try her pineapple casserole for tomorrow, Thanksgiving! The Best Crab Stew 11/22/2006 at 07:40pm User: pam from lexington, NC User Rating: THIS WAS THE BEST CRAB STEW I HAVE FIXED. Also it can be made with fake crab and comes out just as good.. Ingredients too bland 10/20/2006 at 10:17am User: Melissa from Nashville, TN User Rating: Although I used fresh crab meat, the soup was too fishy. The crab had a very strong taste because the other ingredients are so bland. I even tried spicing it up with seasoning, but ultimately threw it out. Awesome! 09/19/2006 at 11:14am User: JOANNE from APEX, NC User Rating: This is by far the easiest and tastiest crab stew ever. Its comparable to what's served at Lady and Sons and Uncle Bubba's, but way fastest and easier to cook then the she-crab soup recipe listed in one of Paula's earlier cookbooks. |
