Very tasty

I made these for a potluck appetizer party. They were a big hit and I received a lot of compliments. I used some very fresh (and hot) NM Chimayo Red Chile powder... which made it too hot for the kids, but perfect for the adults. I too thought the flavor lacked a little something. So I finely diced some grapfruit zest and tossed that with the wraps before serving. If I make them again, I'll incorporate a little citrus somewhere in the recipe.

The basic staples were great! I found it was very tasty with smaller pieces of chicken vs. larger cubes, which turned out bland. I added garlic salt, popping up the flavor. Excellent recipe.

Great Appetizer!

I first made this appetizer about a year ago for a friend, & she raved about it. Since then, I have made this recipe numerous times, & everyone loves them! I like to season the chicken with a little salt wrapping them with bacon. I wrap the chicken with bacon & secure with a toothpick & toss them in the chili-brown sugar marinade in a ziploc bag. I let this sit in the fridge overnight before cooking in the oven. This appetizer always disappears quickly at our dinner & wine parties!

Not that great.

As awesome as it sounds (everything is good wrapped in bacon)...apparently chicken isn't. Seemed just a little bland. Half I made like the recipe and the other half I went overboard with the brown sugar and chili powder and it turned out way better. You basically have to drown it in the sugar and powder to get any real flavor out of it. Very bland but easy enough.

The brown sugar/chili powder mix interested me so gave it a try. Besides, it's a Paula Deen recipe. Now that bacon only seems to come in 12 oz. packages, I was a few pieces short but just sauted the few remaining chicken pieces. Husband loved these; they are a little sweet and then your tongue gets a hit of chili seasoning. He kept saying I have to take these to a church social and I better have copies of the recipe with me. A great compliment.

wONDERFUL!!!!!!

I wanted to make these as a main course instead of an appetizer, so when they were ready I stuck them on top of a spinach salad with some shredded parmesan, olive oil, salt, pepper, etc. It was so yummy, my bf asked for more (and he hates salad!). This was also a VERY easy recipe; it needs no attention or supervision and the chicken cooked through perfectly.

GREAT!

User: Jenny from Fountain Inn, SC    User Rating:
Since seeing this recipe made last year on Paula Deen's show, I've made it several times. The first time I made it, my husband and I thought it was the best chicken we ever had, and it was so simple to prepare. Every time after has been just as good, if not better, and it really impresses guests! I've made it both as an appetizer (small pieces) and as a main dish (whole chicken tenders) and both are excellent. This recipe is so tasty, so flavorful and so delicious; and it is one of the easiest recipes to make! If you like chicken and a bit of sweet mixed with spicy, you will love this dish!

I was nervous the bacon was not cooked all the way through, the side touching the chicken seemed uncooked, i left them in longer to compensate and in turn the chicken dried out a little. Moral of the story the bacon is fine, 30-35 minutes is enough! The brown sugar and chili powder impressed and packed just enough punch, i did about a table and 1/2 of chili to take down the heat.

Very good

I saw these on her show and immediately put them in my recipe box here online. My son's birthday party for family was on Sunday, and I made them. I made WAY more than I thought I needed, and there were only a small handful left at the end. Everyone raved over them. They were so easy and good. I actually made them a day ahead of time, and when I was ready to bake them, I re-dipped in the brown sugar mix. Yummy. You must try these.

We just had these tonight as a main entree with a few veggie sides and some bread. Tasted great! We're not a big fan of chicken breasts because of their tendency to be more dry, but the bacon helped to keep them more moist. Only thing would be that if we were to make this again I might add a little salt or do something to up the flavor (not sure what--maybe try dark brown sugar instead--we'd used light).

Just so-so

User: Maureen from Jupiter, FL    User Rating:
Even though I enlivened the coating with some cayenne, I still thought this was just so-so, so I added a piece of pineapple next to the chicken before I wrapped both in the bacon, and I still wasn't impressed. However, my husband really liked these.

I read the reviews and made a couple changes: I 1/4 cooked the bacon then I put the leftover chili/sugar mixture in the pan with the small amount of bacon grease - added 1/2 cup of chix broth (boiled) then used the sauce to drizzle over the chicken. I served the chicken as a meal in a bowl over brown rice and french cut green beans. The chicken had a fabulous taste - I'll serve as an appetizer at my next party.

I followed some previous advise from previous reviews. I first seasoned the chicken liberally with salt and pepper and I also used a bit of garlic powder. The chicken was fantastic and 5 minutes before it was done I put a bit of BBQ sauce on the chicken.I did not want the BBQ sauce to overpower the wonderful tastes of the brown sugar and chili powder. I did however only use 1 tablespoon of the chili powder.(kid Friendly)It was a wonderful recipe for Super Bowl Sunday!

Wow, Paula, you did it again! I made these last night for the Super Bowl and was so happy I did! I saw Paula and her boys make them on her show and they looked so easy I had to try them. The hardest part is waiting until they get done! I made two trays and they were all gone in no time. I served them with a thai chili sauce (right out of the bottle), which was delicious. My husband also wanted to dip them in ranch dressing, but we were out. I will try that next time. Thanks, Paula!

I have made these multiple times before and they have always came out great, but I made them for our SuperBowl party last night for some friends that have never tried them and they fell in love with them like i knew that they would. I added more chili powder because we like heat in our food. There were no leftovers, which I wish there had been so I could snack on them today. I guess that means another trip to the store for moe chicken, so I can make more tonight. Wonderful recipe!!!!!

This was so awesome, especially while still hot from the oven!! I did follow some reviewers' suggestions and seasoned the chicken lightly w/S&P before wrapping, but I think next time I'll add a little onion salt, or just season it a little more heavily. The chicken was a little bland, but it was still totally awesome! Also, I'd forget the Pam spray and wrap your baking sheet w/foil (cleaning the pans was a you-know-what!!) and definitely use a rack cuz the bacon crisped up beautifully on that, and I only cooked them for about 20-25 minutes. I will positively make them again!! (My niece suggested that a water chestnut w/the chicken would give it a nice crunch, for anyone who thinks that sounds good.)

This was great. If you like chewy bacon this will come out perfect. If you like crispier bacon you will need to find a way to crisp it (possibly par-cooking before hand). This was our first time making it and we will definately do it again. Next time we will also make sure to cake on the seasoning to make all of the surface area explode with flavor.

They were so good, he only go 1 by the time he got home, & that was only because I told him I had 'some' for him. Thanks Paula! =)

I absolutely love this recipe. I've taken it to many a potluck they're always the first to go ! Was easy and fast to make and what's not to love chicken and bacon OMG. I did notice when I watching the show that you cooked them on a sheet pan, the recipe on this site for calls the chicken to be placed and cooked on a RACK/BROILER PAN. I tried them on the SHEET PAN and found them to be a bit greasy. The second time I tried the broiler (sprayed of course) pan much better. A KEEPER FOR SURE !

I made these chicken bacon wraps just last night and my whole family including me loved them. I'm a huge fan of chicken and bacon, putting the two together just made is better, and the brown sugar and chili powder gave them and slighty spicy and delightful sweet taste to them. This recipe has become one of our family favs.

I'm always looking for a new way to cook chicken, and this is a great idea! I used tenders instead of pieces and added a bit of cayenne to the mixture. I also cooked the bacon for about a minute and a half before wrapping it. There was a big mess after cooking directly on the cookie sheet, but it cleaned up without a problem.

they're very good, the mixture of chili powder and brown sugar seems weird at first, but it actually tastes really good. It isn't too sweet, (the bacon helps to counteract) and after 30 min in the oven, the chicken was perfectly cooked. Will make these again.

I'll let you know how that comes out. My family loved these, but were looking to dip it into something. I've emailed Paula to see what she would suggest, but I suggest you make these!

I used a cookie rack on my sheet pan and had no problems with sticking or the bacon crisping up. They were perfect. I decreased the chili powder about 1/2 tblspn. Will keep as a permanent appetizer for every gathering....(how can you go wrong when anything is wrapped in bacon???!!!) Love you Paula!

I made these yesterday just to experiment as I had been wanting to make them. My DS and his GF declared them to be awesome. I did add a bit of garlic powder and a little salt. Our bacon is home grown and not as salty as store bought. They added a little hot sauce and said that really brought out the flavors. Another winner by Paula.

I made these for a Super Bowl party, but made a few small changes. I used precooked bacon and cut the slices into fourths instead of thirds. These were a huge hit, and everyone was asking where I got the recipe. I made it again at home for dinner, but didn't feel like wasting 482348 toothpicks. So I just placed the bacon on each piece on chicken and cooked them that way. Then we just ate the pieces with knives and forks, and they were obviously just as great! :)
