this recipe was pretty hard to make. being a chef-in-the-making and inexperienced, i had to use about 40 different bowls and got raw eggs all over my jacket. ahahaa. this dessert kept surprising me and the biggest surprise was how wonderful it was! i used a bit too much expresso, but still great. i'll definately be making this again.

AWESOME!!!!

We tried this recipe and there is water mixed with espresso powder - when we went to combine everything - the chocolate seized - what a waste.

delightful

Absolutely delicious! I cut out the espresso, but other than that, I followed this recipe exactly. The mousse turned out light and wonderful. I dolloped whipped cream on top and cherries. The mousse was a huge hit, and it looked so pretty in the wine glasses. I made this for Father's Day. My dad usually doesn't like sweets, but he really enjoyed this dessert.

Great taste/stressed me out

I had problems with the egg part as well. In fact I thought all was lost from the looks of it. I would use a better form than folding in. A whisk for a bit? I couldn't just toss it though. So I mixed it as well as I could and left it to the food gods to help me. I was shocked it came out good. I was serving it to friends so the will eat anything I give them. It was gone to the last drop with yummy kudos all around. Which I agree with. But the stress let it slide and mix it good.

Yummy

The final product was delicious however I had a bit of a kink along the way. When I tried to fold the whipped cream into the egg chocolate mixture, the mixture was very hard and didn't fold nicely. I ended up with big chunks of it in the mousse. A good whip with a handheld mixer mostly fixed this but a few specks were still left amid the silky consistency of the rest. I'll have to try again and see if it comes out differently. Didn't stop it from all getting eaten though!

This turned out very tasty. I think the directions are a little confusing. When I made it the chocolate was a bit granually - but the mousse was still good - like it had little chocolate chunks in it. I want to try it with the bittersweet chocolate next time, as it was a little sweeter than I like.

This recipe has a mistake in one of its steps. The expresso powder should be added to the egg mixture as shown, not after the egg mixture is ready. Since this is from the Food Network Kitchen, it should be reworded for clarity.

Choclate Mousse In The Making
02/03/2007 at 11:51am

My father wanted for me to learn how to make a Chocolate Mousse one day. So, I left his room and looked up Chocolate Mousse on my computer so I found a couple of recipes, then I looked on Foodnetwork.com for one and with my searches, the recipe would not come up. I waited a while then, I seen Choclate Mousse in a picture. I clicked on it and I finally had the recipe I wanted. I printed it out, went to the store with my mother and started on the making of my first Chocolate Mousse. Every thing went well untill I had to put in the eggs. I got confused and the recipe on the website was mixed up a little bit, so I followed the recipe and hope that it would come out right ... I was worried but my dad said dont get stressed out because its your first time, and it will be ok. It turned out to be better than I thought. Thanks Foodnetwork. P.S. Please correct the Chocolate Mousse Recipe
