This is absolutely wonderful! It is just like french onion soup! We saw this and had to make it the next day. We love french onion soup, so we didn't quite know how this was going to measure up....but WOW~! I would suggest using unsalted butter, and I will probably only use 1/2 bouillon cube next time because we don't like things quite that salty. I also added just a drop or two of worcestershire sauce. I sprinkled some Gruyere cheese on top right out of the oven. This will definitely be my go-to french onion soup. Thanks again, Paula, for a another wonderful recipe!

Yummy!

I tried this yesterday in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 45 minutes, and the onions were still hard, almost raw after 45 minutes. I cranked up the temperature to 400 and baked them another hour and that softened them up,however the broth did not taste like French Onion Soup. All was not lost, however.I cut up the last onion into small pieces, put it with the broth(more like butter, imho) in a pot, added a can of beef consomme and had some fantastic onion soup!

wonderful

This is a simple way to add a little pizazz to an everyday meal with very little effort. Great from the grill, but the oven works very well for this dish.

I made this onion for the frist bbq of the season, and people that don't even like onions, ate this. I had to put three more on the grill because everyone wanted to eat it by itself!!! Thanks Paula, your recipes NEVER fail me!!!

I had to add an extra twenty minutes to my onions because I cooked them in the oven. They were so good. I also added shredded parmesan cheese which really gave a good onion soup flavor. Thanks so much for this recipe Paula.

I've made this several times over the last couple of years and it has been pretty much fool proof - although it generally takes at least an hour... It's always a big hit! Lisa G. Nashville, TN
