Who knew veggies could be so good?!

I'm a HUGE fan of meat and had my doubts about this kind of recipe - BOY was I surprised! I swapped the red wine for balsamic vinegar and added scallions...unbelievably flavorful and great with the steaks I had with it! This will be something I eat more regularly - my doctor will be SO pleased! :-0

excellent and easy

This recipe was so easy, and so good I ate the whole pan. As a vegetarian I am always looking for great recipes. I used braggs amino acids to add a little more flavor.

Very Good

This was my first time trying Kale and I loved it. I think I would have enjoyed it better without the mushrooms. I will definitely use this recipe again.

Yuck!

I've never had kale before, but I decided this would be a good recipe to try as I love mushrooms. All I can say is, YUCK! My husband hated this too.

great healthy side dish

Kale doesn't cook to be as mushy as spinach. It is not as tart a turnip greens and collard greens. This recipe is fantastic, my southern husband was overwhelmed and took all the leftovers to the Fire Station the next morning.

very good

I liked this dish, but I love Kale anyway. I think a lot of people are not so familiar with these greens and thus the taste is strange to them and thus the low ratings!

another good option for kale

Kale has a bit of a bitter taste on its own so don't look for this recipe to take the taste out of the green. It's a good combination, kale and mushrooms, and it is healthy. We enjoyed it and will probably cook it again.

A great way to enjoy kale

When I saw this recipe I thought, hum, kale. Nevermind. But, I decided to be brave and prepare this. It was wonderful. Prepared exactly as recipe instructed.

Having never tried Kale before, I was inspired by Rachel Ray's show on 1/15/07 to give it a try. After seeing Rachel demonstrate how to prepare the Kale by pulling the leaves off of the stems, wash and chop, I was ready to try this dish. Love the portabello's and this dish came together nicely. Now, all I need is the fresh nutmeg and that grater Rachel always uses and I'll be all set. Dish is definitely worth a try!

I had my doubts...

It was easy to make but tasted horrible. I like protobello mushrooms but had never eaten kale before. I've made 3 RR recipes and been disapointed all 3 times.

Terrific Kale!

First time I tried this recipe after seeing it on the show. It's delicious and with the whole wheat pasta & cauliflower it makes a scrumptious dinner. Loved it

Don't bother trying this

First let me say I'm an avid cook and I make many meals I watch on food network. I had never cooked Kale before but Rachel really sold me on this one. I can't believe how terrible it tastes. If you and your family have never had this veggie.....please don't bother. You will thank me. I'm happy that I prepared this dish and ate it because now I know its not worth the time and I won't order or make it again.

Horrible

Sorry to say that I tried this one and we all hated it. It would have been better with spinach and the red wine was completely unnecessary.

Great side dish!

We predominantly eat mostly fresh spinach and swiss chard for greens, but being from the south, I thought I'd introduce kale. I added fresh minced garlic, (or a shallot), once the mushrooms are browned then added the wine. My preference is to cook the kale slowly, for at least 25 minutes, as I find I like it a little more wilted and infused with the red wine and garlic flavors.

I watched her show and the next day went out and found the ingredients. I have always loved the two main items, but never cooked them together. When I lived in Kentucky, I grew kale every year and always just cooked and canned on the stove. The nutmeg gave it such a boast in flavor. Thanks from Ann in South Daytona, Florida (now)
