When you're craving yellow cupcakes with milk chocolate frosting, this is a great go-to recipe. It's a basic recipe but a great one. The cupcakes are moist and flavorful and the frosting is creamy and perfect.

When I made the batter, I thought I had made a mistake. It was mousse like, not like cake batter. I baked it anyway. The cupcakes were delicious. More vanilla flavor than other recipes I have tried. The icing is milk chocolatly delicious. Beats the powdery cocoa icing I have been making. Yum!!!! My new fav cupcake recipe!!

Horrible!

These were the worst cupcakes I have ever had! They had the texture of a hard muffin and they had a weird taste.

The frosting isn't all that great because you can taste the sugar in it literally! The little pieces of sugar stand out. Also, the bread for the cupcakes actually tastes like flour, but if you put a few chocolate chips in the batter before you get it baked then it sweetens up the cupcakes.

great!

Since my mother thought it a crime to use a cake mix, I grew up eating the "real thing," and I very much prefer scratch cakes to mixes. I did think the cakes turned out a little dry and I only baked them the minimum time of 20 minutes. The icing, however, it absolutely scrumptious! I will probably try the cupcakes again and reduce the baking time to see if that will correct the dryness problem.

Excellent recipe

I've had challenges in the past with frosting. This was the best frosting recipe I've worked with. The end result is far better than store bought or out of a box. I used semi sweet chocolate chips because I prefer darker chocolate. These were a big hit!

I made this recipe (cupcakes only) and the recipe came out extremely dry. My husband wouldn't even eath them so I had to throw them out.

Better than mom's!

I wasn't happy with my mom's cake recipe I used to make cupcakes. i didn't want to use a mix, so I went looking for a vanilla cupcake recipe and found this. The cupcakes were moist and not real airy. They had a great flavor. I didn't use the chocolate frosting as my son likes vanilla icing. This is now the recipe I will use for vanilla cupcakes.
