amazing! & PLEASE!

This recipe was fantastic - everyone loved it and the only problem I had was wishing I had doubled the recipe. I used the toothpick suggestion and I actually grilled it a little on all sides. Yummmmmmmm On another note - regarding the "anonymous" entry back in february calling Guy a "clown" - come on...Like another entry said - we are on this site to learn and to access amazing recipes for our families and friends to enjoy - how rude to take the time to simply bash someone that way -- if you don't like it, don't make it. If you don't like the show...don't watch it. Period. And if you are going to take the time and energy to bad mouth someone that way, then have the courage to use your real name. All of Guy's recipes I have made have been amazing - the ones I didn't think my famiy would not like, I simply overlooked. There is NO reason to be nasty.

Everyone loved it. My hubby was afraid that I burned the onions but even a little too browned it was great. Everyone said it was wonderful. I didn't have enough of the filling so had to do more so next time I'd double it to make sure I had plenty.

SSSSSSOOOOOO GOOD!

To the 'Anonymous' critic with the title: "Stolen Recipe...." I took your suggestion and I prepared both 'versions'. Both are good but I like Guy's better as the carmelized garlic gives it much more intense flavor for me. And 6 out of 8 guests agreed. However, the 'Epicurious' toothpick trick does help to prevent sliding. Now, you don't know where 'Epicurious' got their recipe from either and the fact that you yourself state that "Guy" DID NOT SAY IT WAS HIS RECIPE makes me wonder why you would slander him with a title like that. ??? Look, we all just love food and we are here to learn and pick up new ideas. I have read people (not just Guy's show) calling others with opinions: morons, stupid, using abrasive, negative undertones....etc. PEOPLE...BREATH...IT'S JUST NOT THAT SERIOUS. It's just food. Glorious, lip-smaking, making your family and friends happy (and your tummy)---FOOD! Enjoy it and relax.

simple is always best, classic ingredients used with an innovative twist. This is a really nice dish, now I've got to put a bit of a personal twist on it myself for my next party.

out of this world good!!!

What a neat idea! And the taste is out of this world!! We made a triple batch for when our friends came over, and not one was left! After the first bite our friends just closed their eyes and sighed. This is the coolest idea! I'm addicted to that garlic, onion, grilled-toasty taste. Everyone loved watching us put them on the grill too. Not your standard grill food, but they will be HERE from now on. Thanks, Guy!

These were fabulous!! We didn't get the snazy grill marks on the sides but it warmed them up nicely and the edges got nice and done. We ended up only having enough filling for 8 layers of filling - 9 tortillas - and that was plenty. We cut it into eights too. Soooo delicious and worth crying over the onions (we used white/vidalia)!!

Stolen Version of Gourmet Magazine Recipe

A for effort Guy, I usually like your stuff but this recipe does not stack up to the original recipe from Gourmet magazine in 1994. Readers, try this link to get the better version and you will not have the issues that I had by trying to make his version. *note: he did not say where he got the recipe but did imply that it is not his. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/recipe_views/views/12056

This is a really unusual dish, both in taste and presentation, never had anything like it. We all loved it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that, like someone else mentioned, I could not get the amount of filling to stretch to 12 tortillas, so I only used 8. But, wow! Was the outcome rich and tasty!

You are supposed to be rating the recipes; if you don't like Guy or the way he cooks go watch Elie Krieger or your momma. Only someone stupid would keep watching what they claim not to like; by now his style should be apparent to even a dolt like you.

I have had this made by Guy himself at his restaurant Johnny Garlix in Santa Rosa CA and it is the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. We would drive 1 1/2 hours for this alone. I was so wonderfully suprised to see it on his show. I made it immediatley and it was to die for. Taste...texture... It was fablous. We will be making this one time and time again. Thanks Guy!! :)

Fabulous!

This was excellent, very reminiscent of the hot artichoke dip that is in many restaurants these days. I only used about 3 T. oil to saute the onions, and about 2 tsp sugar. I didn't have a grill, so I fried the wedges in a lightly oiled cast iron pan. Not sure why the long rest is required: I let mine sit 1 hr and it was fabulous.I will make this one over and over.

Very Good

I thought that this wouldn't be this good but I read the reviews from other people that had made it and decided to give it a try. I thought that the onions and garlic would be over powering but they weren't. This is sooo good. I guarantee that I will make it again. One change that I did make was rather than use the extra dipping sauce to dip the tortilla cake in, I put a little sour cream and freshly cut tomatoes on top instead..

Fabulous

Like this entire show, this recipe was horrible. I can't believe that FN actually gave this clown a show. With recipes like this, it's no wonder that we have health problems in this country.

This recipe made my mouth water as I was watching it being prepared on TV. i went right out to get the ingredients and it was NOT disapointing. What a great, new idea and simple to prepare. It is especially nice because it is done way ahead of time. I did scewer each piece as I cut it into 16 slices to keep it from sliding apart. The sauce that goes on top is "to die for." A huge success and I will prepare it again and again.

Wonderful idea

I loved the combination of flavors in this 'cake'. The dipping sauce was outstanding, and a great compliment to this dish. In the future, however, I would only use a stack of about four, rather than 10, so that it is a bit easier to eat. I would also use low carb tortillas, as this is not a carb friendly recipe--but well worth the splurge!!
