Unexpectedly Good 12/28/2007 at 11:20am User: Marty from Endwell, NY User Rating: I didn't know what to expect, but was pleased with the results. Things I loved about this pie are it's unbelievably easy to make and you routinely have all the ingredients on hand. It looked pretty and can definitly be topped in many different tastey ways. It may not be my first choice for dessert, however, for the right crowd or in a pinch I would go for it. Excellent 12/17/2007 at 03:14pm User: Kelly from Hilliard, OH User Rating: This was so easy to make and incredibly yummy. So yummy! 12/11/2007 at 10:48pm User: JAN from Apex, NC User Rating: Made this for my family yesterday and already had to go out and get more buttermilk as they LOVED it!! Was almost like a pudding pie, very rich and great with coffee. One would never know it had buttermilk in it as you cannot taste it, but I think it is what makes it so I would not suggest altering a thing. THANKS PAULA! ok pie 12/03/2007 at 02:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Was different, taste was not what I was expecting. Thanks Olivia 11/21/2007 at 06:56pm User: Lynn from Sebastian, FL User Rating: This dessert was wonderful. The crust made itself and the bottom portion was similar to to a pecan pie consistancy. GREAT! DELISH!! 11/17/2007 at 12:39pm User: Valerie from Columbia, MD User Rating: This pie has become a classic at my house. As a matter of fact, I make 2 of them at the same time, because it goes so fast... I never thought those ingredients would work so well together. It tastes like creme brulee, without all the yolks, and heavy cream! YUM!! Oh! My! Gosh! Yummmmm! 10/09/2007 at 11:46pm User: Pat from Palm Desert, CA User Rating: This is fantastic. I made one for my husband and I to try and then made another a few days later when our family came to visit. They all said "Oh my gosh. We want the recipe." It was a snap to prepare and will be one of our family favorites from now on. (We loved it after it was refrigerated, too.) Easy to make 10/03/2007 at 04:04pm User: null from null, null User Rating: We made this pie at the house and loved it so much we put it on our catering menu and it sells like hot cakes. Our clients just love it. Easy and Great 10/01/2007 at 02:35pm User: Sue from STAR VALLEY, AZ User Rating: I can't say that I have every found a recipe this easy that is this good. Great for last minute get togethers. AWESOME 10/01/2007 at 02:28pm User: Sherry from Hartselle, AL User Rating: I made this pie for our Sunday dinner at my in-laws. Everyone loved it. I'll definitely prepare it again. So easy and Soooo Good!!!! ummmm ummmm Good! 09/29/2007 at 08:25pm User: Karin from Silverdale, WA User Rating: I just made this pie exactly how it was listed; it turned out beautiful and was delicious! I also made another pie but used low-fat Bisquick, low-fat buttermilk and Splenda! It turned out marvelous!! I do suggest allowing the pie to sit and then cool in the refrig! Cool Whip is great topping (Fat-Free that is!) My family loved them both equally. Tastes like creme brulee 09/27/2007 at 04:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I felt like it tasted like creme brulee and I'm not a fan of that dessert. I always loves Paula's recipes, but this one is not one of my favorites. Absolutely FABULOUS! 09/24/2007 at 01:31pm User: Brinda from Tacoma, WA User Rating: My friend made this for us over the weekend for our dessert, and I can't wait to make more! It tasted like warm shortbread cookies to me (of course I couldnt wait for it to cool before I ate it!) Unbelievably easy to make and sensation taste! This will easily become a favorite in my house! So rich and delicious! 07/27/2007 at 11:17pm User: marilyn from temple hills, MD User Rating: This pie is absolutely wonderful and gets raves every time. People just can't believe the ingredients. I also use this recipe as a "base" sometimes. Try it with raisins and coconut (my husband's favorite) or chocolate chips or pecans with brown sugar sprinkled on top. It's just amazing. Absolutely Love's It 07/09/2007 at 05:36pm User: Helen from Indianapolis, IN User Rating: The first time that I ever tried this receipe, I loved it. I would highly recomend it to everyone! Could have been sweeter 06/17/2007 at 11:20pm User: Jo from Leander, TX User Rating: Im shocked that some people thought this was too sweet! I thought it actually needed more sugar. Everyone that tried it thought it would have been better with a crust, which a frozen one is an easy fix, but I felt indifferent. I just thought it was a little bland. SOOOOO easy though, and worth it for that reason alone. Just slap some cool whip on it and you have a dessert. thanks paula !!!! 05/29/2007 at 06:29pm User: TRACI from excelsior springs, MO User Rating: wow, this cake is sooo easy to make. the whole family loved it and if my family is any indication one pie isn't enough.... you can serve it with or without the fruit and whipped cream. both ways are good. Exellent and Easy 05/28/2007 at 05:43pm User: Traci from Lexington, SC User Rating: This recipie was so easy to make!It only took 5 minutes to mix the ingrdients! The taste is sweet and savory and my kids loved it! Best Pie Ever! 05/22/2007 at 11:35pm User: Vicki from Albemarle, NC User Rating: "Sweeter than a buttermilk pie..." is in one of Jason Michael Carroll's songs and I wondered how a buttermilk pie tasted...Then I saw Paula making it on one of her shows...My husband said that it is the best pie he has had all year!...The pie did not last long...had to make two smaller pies before going to bed...one for my family to enjoy tomorrow and one for my co-workers to enjoy...A must for every pie lover. The mix that never form! 05/07/2008 at 03:45pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The recipe sounded simple and I didn't think I would have a problem - but I did. I did everything and I bake the pie as the recipe mentioned. I stuck a toothpick in it and the toothpick came out clean. I cut through the pie but the pie was still mushy and not cook all the way through. I stuck it back in the oven and everything still didn't come out fully baked. I never had any baking mishap and I don't understand what went wrong. Delicious!! 05/01/2007 at 08:54pm User: Leslie from Murfreesboro, TN User Rating: This is the easiest pie ever to make. It is so good and moist. This has been a hit whenever I've made it. Will continue to make this dessert. Thanks! awesome awesome 04/30/2007 at 09:31pm User: april from pendleton, IN User Rating: I am a fruity pie lover and don't normally pick up a buttermilk, sugar cream, or etc pie and this is an awesome pie. My husband even liked it. Will definately make very often. THE BEST PIE!!!! 04/29/2007 at 03:19pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was the easiest pie I have ever made and it tasted sooooooooo great. But doesn't everything Paula bake look so good that you JUST HAVE to try it yourself? My family is on a health diet, everyone except me, and they devoured this pie in less then 30 minutes. WONDERFUL!!!! 04/26/2008 at 02:50pm User: Angie from Tracy, CA User Rating: This was one of the easiest recipe's I have ever followed, and turned out to be one of the yummiest as well! My husband says that he has a new favorite! Thanks Paula!! Judy from Richmond, Virginia 04/20/2007 at 06:16am User: Judy from richmond, VA User Rating: Sooooo easy and one of the best pies I have ever made. I displayed it on the plate as Paula did and my guests felt they were at a fancy restaurant and the dessert was prepared by a professional chef. This was always be my all time favorite. Thanks Paula. No Butter, But Great Anyway!!! 04/19/2007 at 03:38pm User: Sandy from Laredo, TX User Rating: I followed the directions to the tee, but I melted the butter in the microwave oven & forgot about it. I combined all the ingredients, except for the butter. To my amazement, the pie tasted absolutely delicious. So don't worry about adding butter if you don't have any on hand. I used low fat buttermilk & everything else was regular. Great Pie!!! company 04/17/2007 at 07:13am User: Brenda from Bethesda, OH User Rating: good for use of group meals delicious! 04/16/2008 at 08:42am User: wendy from woodbridge, VA User Rating: I made this last night using lowfat buttermilk and it turned out DELICIOUS! It was a little too sweet when I tried it after 15 minutes of cool time, but when I tried it today after it had been refrigerated all night it tasted perfect, and the sweetness was just right. So, in the future if I'm serving it to company the same day I make it, I will reduce the sugar to 1 cup. If I'm making it for just us, I will use the full sugar and refrigerate it before eating. Olivia's Buttermilk Pie 04/16/2007 at 10:48pm User: Marcelina from Mount Rainier, MD User Rating: I served this pie last easter with my in laws.Almost everyone love it,I my self could'nt get enough of this pie. It's so easy to make & the ingredients are very simple. It's so good!Like Ms.Paula Deen said it's out of this world! Absolutely yummy! 04/13/2007 at 04:34pm User: pamela from Vallely View, TX User Rating: Hade to try this incredibly easy pie. Could it really be good? It is sooo gooood - even plain. Didn't have buttermilk so I used the 1TB of vinegar in 1 cup of 2% milk and it turned out perfect. Baked it for 45 min in convection oven and NO GOOEY, just perfect. Good job Paula. It's a winner! 04/12/2008 at 10:05am User: Hilary from Kyle, TX User Rating: This pie is so easy to do and only has a few simple ingredients. I'm going to let my six year old make it next time. It's delicious and versatile. I'd give it six stars if I could! Quick and Easy 04/10/2007 at 12:42pm User: Anonymous User Rating: A very good variation on Buttermilk pie and no need for a crust. An Impossible Buttermilk Pie. Very good. Bunkers Mom 04/09/2008 at 09:32pm User: Sue from Mendota Hts, MN User Rating: Very easy and delish! I also added a few sprinkles of cinnamon to the recipe and my family gobbled it up! Like Chess Pie! 04/09/2008 at 08:49pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is an extremely easy dessert to make! The taste is like chess pie but the consistency is cake-like. Easy and delicious 04/09/2007 at 03:34pm User: Karen from Tolleson, AZ User Rating: This pie was very easy to bake an the results look so impressive. I topped mine exactly like the photo but used raspberries rather than blueberries and it was the talk of the party. I did make a few modifications to make it a little healthier and it still turned out perfectly. I used only 1 cup of sugar, 4 tablespoons of butter, low fat biscuit mix and low fat buttermilk. GREAT Recipe/Altered Cooking Time 04/08/2008 at 09:01pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I really enjoyed this recipe! I noticed it getting a little brown towards the end and covered it with tin foil for the last 5 to 10 minutes it was in the oven. Also, I only cooked it for 40 minutes, rather than 50. It will set once as it cools so it really needs to come out of the oven while it is still "giggly." Fabulous & Easy 04/08/2007 at 06:10pm User: C from Newton, NC User Rating: Made this today for dessert for Easter and it was a big hit. I loved it just plain. Very easy to make and I did use lowfat buttermilk and it came out fine, cooked it for 50 minutes and cooled for a few hours. I will certainly be making this again. YUMMY...Oh So Tasty 04/08/2007 at 01:06pm User: GAY from San Clemente, CA User Rating: I am making this for Easter to take to my son's home for dessert today. I made it last week as a practice run and it was so good. It has a cross between custard and a flan taste. I put nothing on it like whipped cream or strawberries and it was to die for. Today it gets all the trimmings. Very, very easy to make. FYI, on my third making I am going to try some toasted pecans sprinkled on top. buttermilk pie 04/07/2008 at 03:36pm User: null from null, null User Rating: Buttermilk pie is a very old recipe that I used to make. This is so much easier and tastier. I thought it was great. really easy and good 04/07/2007 at 02:45pm User: shaunda from Lithia Springs, GA User Rating: I really like how it taste so good I was surprised because it is called buttermilk so I was not sure it was going to be good..but it was..and my husband is a really picky eater and he ate it and love it too. Very Good 04/06/2007 at 07:52pm User: Theresa from Denton, NC User Rating: easy, quick and tasty kind of reminds me of custard taste and persimon pudding texture Fantastic 04/06/2007 at 07:13pm User: LaCretia from Dickson, TN User Rating: What a easy recipe that went over very well at our church social! This is a great recipe for someone with time constraints. People will think you worked all day on this. Good - But better with less sugar. 04/03/2008 at 03:48pm User: Linda from Independence, MO User Rating: This pie is delicious, but I found after experimenting a few times that it is perfect when using 3/4 cup of sugar. Very Good 04/03/2007 at 09:23pm User: Janet from St. George, UT User Rating: What a snap to make! Not only that, but it is really delicious! I just had to try to the recipe because I couldn't imagine what the pie would be like. I was very pleased with the results. We ate it warm and enjoyed every bite. Although the recipe doesn't call for it, the accompanying picture inclues whipped cream and berries. Due the richness of the pie itself, the cream and berries offer a nice addition and help to cut some of the sweetness. Buttermilk Pie 04/02/2007 at 11:34am User: CAROLYNN from Minden, NV User Rating: Love easy recipes so thought I'd give this a try. I found this pie had a vanilla pudding taste and could easily have any type of topping on it, but whip cream is a must! It needs to be cooked longer than 50 minutes, I cooked it about 1 hr. and 15 minutes. It won't burn so not to worry. Will make it again soon. Probably just me... 04/01/2007 at 06:49pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Pie set up "OK" - loved the cakey top, but thought the gooey bottom was too sweet. ...but, maybe that is what it is supposed to be like...I was thinking it would be more like an egg custard - but, it really was more like the filling of a pecan pie. My husband and daugther still loved it, especially with blueberries. Perfect Pie 03/31/2007 at 11:43pm User: Jennifer from Belleville, IL User Rating: I just got finished making this. It was for my inlaws at our Sunday dinner. I had to taste in because of the reviews saying it was runny and messy. Mine came out perfect. I am going to serve chilled and topped with sweetened strawberrys and fresh whipped heavy cream! Thanks Paula!! I LOVE you!! Tasted good, didn't cook so well. 03/30/2007 at 09:40pm User: Kat from Great Falls, MT User Rating: Made this recipe to the tee and it took an extensive ime to cook and came out mushy. It taseted well, just not right. Maybe it was the chef. Sorry Paula 03/30/2007 at 06:41pm User: Anonymous User Rating: But I have to give this 1 star. I made it twice (used a different pie pan the second time just in case that had something to do with it) and BOTH times it was gooey and raw. I left it in the full time and it was browned on top so I figured it was done. After cutting into it I threw the whole pie into the garbage...twice. I'm not sure how everyone else got theirs to cook through. Buttermilk Pie 03/30/2007 at 04:32pm User: lisa from Boise, ID User Rating: This is the first time I have had Buttermilk Pie. This was a easy recipe. I replaced the sugar with Splenda Sugar Blend for Baking. Turned out great. Topped with Blue Berrys. It's my fault 03/27/2007 at 08:17pm User: Stefanie from Houston, TX User Rating: Darn! I SO wanted this to come out good. Unfortunately I didn't remember the episode and that you can't use lowfat buttermilk. My store ONLY sold lowfat so that's what I bought. It came quite runny. I can taste the goodness in there but it's masked by the soggyness. Next time I'll make it with whole buttermilk as I saw on another recipe site that it only works with that. Buttermilk Pie 03/26/2007 at 06:30pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Outstanding and so easy Enjoying 03/26/2007 at 03:53pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I made this pie yesterday and had two helpings. It was very easy to make, which is what I love. I can't wait to go home after work for another peice. Pretty good 03/26/2007 at 02:33pm User: Jacquelyn from Houston, TX User Rating: This pie was a big hit. My 10y/o son took one bite and asked me to make another one. I will say the receipe says let cool 5 minutes and we waited atleast 30 and it was still to hot. It was much better the next day after it had been refrigerated. Delicious 03/25/2007 at 11:10am User: Anonymous User Rating: It was delicious I made it for a famliy gathering and everyone loved it Olivia's Buttermilk Pie 03/24/2007 at 02:13pm User: Gail from Bay St. Louis, MS User Rating: This pie is easy and delicious. It is fast becoming a family and church favorite! I plan to keep making it for all kinds of occasions. Thanks, Paula!! excellent and easy 03/22/2007 at 12:32pm User: Patricia from Gunnison, CO User Rating: I've made this pie twice and it is so easy to make and so very good you have got to try this one! fantastic 03/21/2007 at 11:09am User: mary from maggie valley, NC User Rating: I made this pie the other night and my family loved it. Talk about easy to make - i loved the fact that you did not haved to fuss with a pie crust. Thank you Paula!!!!! Olivia's Buttermilk Pie 03/20/2007 at 07:53am User: Anonymous User Rating: This is so simple and delicious, a great recipe even for a child to try. It is great by itself but really good with fresh fruit on top also. I took it to a family get together and we fought over who got the last piece. I even baked one too long but the edges carmelized and made it even better. I don't see how you could go wrong with this pie! Amazing! 03/19/2008 at 09:04pm User: Kyle from Hillsboro, OR User Rating: I needed to use leftover buttermilk, and found this recipe. This pie didn't last one day between two people. It doesn't look like much, but the flavor is amazing. You can't stop eating it. Good, but a little too sweet 03/12/2007 at 11:46am User: Anonymous User Rating: Overall, it was a simple recipe to make. Maybe it's an individual preference thing, but I found the pie a bit too sweet for my taste. Will probably cut down sugar to about 3/4 cup next time. SIMPLE, EASY & TASTY 03/11/2007 at 03:20pm User: Tima from southaven, MS User Rating: This has to be one of the easiest pies I have ever made. To be honest I did not know what to think about a buttermilk pie but had to try it. I was amazed, pie was easy and taste great. Now my mother request me make one for her about every 10 days. Easy and Yummy 03/10/2007 at 08:24pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This took just a few minutes to prepare, but tasted amazing. I thought that it was even better the next day chilled. Even A Non-Baker Can Do This !!! 03/06/2007 at 01:42pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I had some buttermilk in the frig about to expire, so I looked for recipes to use it up. I have had many baking disasters (can cook anything), but this looked so easy even I could do it. I did add a 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder to make it more appealing to my husband & it was a HUGE SUCCESS.......yay!!! Yummy Buttermilk Pie 03/05/2007 at 02:38pm User: Marion from Plano, TX User Rating: This was great--very similar to the custard-type pies my grandmother used to make. My husband is diabetic, so I used Splenda instead of the sugar, low-fat buttermilk, and low-fat Bisquick. Practically sinless, but yet delicious. I'll make this often, perhaps adding lemon or orange flavoring for a change of pace. Best Buttermilk Pie!! 03/05/2007 at 01:26pm User: kerry from Greer, SC User Rating: My family loved this buttermilk pie recipe. We added strawberries and whipped cream. Great tasting and so easy... Terrific 03/05/2007 at 12:35pm User: Kathryn from Williamsport, MD User Rating: We tried this recipe and found it easy and very delicious. We were anxious to taste it and cut it warm. It was very good. Olivia's Buttermilk Pie 03/02/2007 at 07:50pm User: di from clarkston, WA User Rating: To die for!!! Easy, rich and a great way to use that little dab of extra buttermilk Delicious but need help 03/01/2007 at 03:30pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I have trouble making a pecan pie. Why does it run under the pie crust and I can't get the piece out. Delicious taste. I do need help with this recipe AWESOME!!!! 02/28/2007 at 01:32pm User: Ruth Ann from Frankfort, IN User Rating: I have a tax office, and during tax season the fav channel on tv is the food network. I have a collection of cookbooks, and we are all going through them. I don't think anything we have made so far has beat the buttermilk pie. This pie was so easy to make, and SO delicious! Thank you Paula, you are also our favorite!! So easy and so good!!!! 02/28/2007 at 08:47am User: Lynne from Columbia, SC User Rating: My daughter, who is home from college and does not cook, made this recipe. It was absolutely fantastic and she said it could not be easier. Great with toppings or plain. Delish and Easy 02/27/2007 at 08:06pm User: Carol from Aubrey, TX User Rating: It was so, so, so good and my kids really liked it. It took only 5 minutes to prepare and then just bake. My family says they definitely want it again. Thanks Paula!! We Love you! Super Pie! 02/27/2007 at 02:38pm User: MEL from Olympia, WA User Rating: Whipped up this fast, easy pie last night to have while watching 24. Loved, loved, loved it! I topped with whole raspberries thawed from my freezer and a itsy dollup of whipped cream. Absolutely a hit with my husband too! Used lowfat buttermilk and the low fat Bisquick mix. Next time however, I am going to drop 1/2 cup sugar from the recipe - we thought a bit sweet and we don't need the extra sugar! A true 5 Star dessert! Thanks, Paula! Easy and decadent 02/26/2007 at 10:51pm User: Vickie from Martinez, CA User Rating: Loved this recipe. Nice crust with smooth creamy texture! I cut back on the fat a little by using lowfat buttermilk, lowfat Bisquick, 4 Tablespoons of butter, 2 eggs & 1 egg white. I also cut back on the sugar and only used a cup. It was still delicious and got rave reviews! Easiest fancy dessert EVER 02/26/2007 at 12:38pm User: sheri from williamsburg, VA User Rating: I don't like milk or buttermilk, but saw this when Paula made it and decided to try it. Just a few ingredients, no making a crust, no effort...just mix and pour in a greased dish. WOW It is amazing! It is very, very rich, but it does make it's own crustlike layer. It's good warm, cold, leftover...lol DH made me promise to never give out the recipe and make it the dish everyone asks about. Thanks Paula..yummmm! Buttermilk WOW!!! 02/25/2007 at 06:36pm User: Tina from GARDEN RIDGE, TX User Rating: I have made buttermilk pies before. they are my family's favorite, but this one is great! I just made this for the first time tonight and it was well received, especially with fresh blueberries and whipped cream. I might add a little lemon juice or zest the next time for a little citrus kick! Joyce, Stokes, NC 02/24/2007 at 06:19pm User: Joyce from Stokes, NC User Rating: Very good. Wonderfully Sweet 02/24/2007 at 06:16pm User: Anonymous User Rating: What a deliciously sweet and creamy dessert. My family loved it! Easy and Delicious 02/24/2007 at 01:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My husband LOVES buttermilk pie, so when I saw Paula make this I went straight to the kitchen. In less than 10 min. I threw together the pie and aprox. 45 min. later it was ready. I don't think it beats my grandmother's Chess Pie, but this is a faster solution with yummy results. I like a real crust, but my hubby doesn't, so this works for him. I will definitely make again when the crave for buttermilk pie comes on! Thanks, Paula! Yummy 01/29/2008 at 09:21pm User: Yvonne from Milpitas, CA User Rating: My 31 y/o nephew wanted something sweet to eat so I had him make and he loved. wow! 01/12/2008 at 10:12pm User: Ana from orange park, FL User Rating: my dad called me the other day, while on a business trip in ga, just to tell me about his amazing pie he had eaten, called a buttermilk pie. i remembered watching an episode on paula's home cooking, where she made this pie, so i figured i'd give it a try. i had no buttermilk, so made my own, using skim milk & 1 tblspoon vinegar, and also used 3/4 cup splenda baking mix, instead of sugar. this turned out AMAZING! cant wait to eat it cold tomorrow! |
