I made this for my family Christmas party. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out great! I usually have bad luck with homemade cake turning out too dry...but this recipe is off the charts! I wouldn't change a single thing. In a home kitchen it takes all day to get all the steps completed and everything baked however this is WELL worth the time and trouble.

WOW!

I made this cake for a fellow chocoholic who was celebrating his 44th birthday. It was the hit of the party, and made a great presentation as well. Not wanting to but extra equipment, I used my 10" pans, so I ended up with two layers of Devils Food and one cheescake layer. Also, I still had a fair amount of frosting left...next time I made the recipe, I reduced the batch of frosting by a 1/3...using 2 sticks of butter, 4 cups sugar, etc.

AWESOME!!

I've lived in NY for about a year, but I had my first Junior's cheesecake about two days before I saw part of this episode. It happened to be the devil's food cheesecake that I had while I was there. Anyone that can follow this lengthy recipe gets kudos from me. Addressing the issue someone had regarding the leftover frosting - the frosting in the restaurant is about 3/4 of an inch thick between each of the layers. That might be why you had so much leftover.

Best cheescake ever!

I just used the actual cheesecake part of the recipie with a gramcracker crust and it was the best cheesecake I have ever had! Used 3 large eggs instead of 2 XL ones and turned out great.

I made this for a ladies meeting & they thought it was incredible. I made some minor changes, but it was still wonderful. I can't wait to go to NY to taste the real version!

I made this recipe over the weekend. To save a little time I used a boxed mix for the devil's food cake. I actually usually prefer boxed cake since they have some ingredients that are not readily available that keep the cake moist. Anyway, it turned out great and everyone was raving over it. It tastes about like you would expect but the presentation is pretty awesome. P.S. I also made some sauces (recipes on foodnetwork.com) that I served along with it Vanilla Nutmeg, Emeril's simple raspberry sauce + chambord, and alton brown's simle cocoa sauce. Each sauce only probably took under 10 min to make and I think it added a lot to the presentation when drizzled on the plate and cake.

I had the opportunity to visit Junior's restaurant near Times Square in February 2007, and bought a slice of this out-of-this-world cheesecake. If you're a chocolate lover your going to be in heaven!!!! I'm anxious to try the recipe at home.
