This is a really easy-to-make, delicious pasta dish for summer! It's light and healthy and leftovers taste great too (even cold!). I tweaked the recipe a little and added more garlic, salt, and cheese in order to bring out more flavor and it's perfect!

Watching the recipe made on t.v., it looked tasty and refreshing. I found it extremely bland and dull. Even with more garlic and a handful of parmesean, it was very difficult to get a good flavor.

Sorry Giada... We followed the recipe only adding turkey sausage. If it wasn't for our addition, this dish would have had absolutely NO FLAVOR!!! Presentation wise, great colors but your taste buds are dissapionted with bland cheese, overpowering veggies (which is unheard of) and your money in the garbage.

I made this for my husband despite his insistence that he hates anything with lemon and he loved it! I couldn't find whole wheat linguine, so I used whole wheat spaghetti instead. I anticipated that this might make it a little harder to evenly distribute the ricotta, so I reserved some extra pasta water (on top of what the recipe suggested) and added about 1/4 cup more to facilitate mixing. This recipe was great for a weeknight meal...So easy to make! The lemon makes it very light and I loved the sweetness of the tomatoes. I did use a little more ricotta than the recipe called for (I couldn't resist) and next time I would probably add more green beans and tomatoes because I thought the ratio of pasta to veggies could have been better. Definitely adding this one to the collection!

This is not a keeper in our household. Very bland...I added extra lemon zest, extra garlic, extra pepper and still nothing exciting. My husband added cayenne pepper and still not impressed. The dish looks good, but no taste.

The recipe looked great on TV but I will have to agree with the review above dated 08/06/07 "Can't be same as on TV." The recipe as written has too much pasta and not enough vegetables. I would suggest using only half the amount of pasta called for in the recipe. With that adjustment made and an increase in the ricotta cheese there is hope for this recipe.

This is a great dish for summer. It's light and refreshing. I love the fresh green beans paired with the tomatoes. The lemon zest definitely adds just the right amount of added zip to make the flavors come through in the sauce.

Made this as an vegetarian alternative to the normal spaghetti and meat sauce. Was very good, I used whole wheat spaghetti and frozen french style green beans. The tomatoes get nice and warm and pop in your mouth! Great healthy alternative for dinner!

Realizing that the recipe was intended as light, "spa" type fare I still have to say it was just a bit dry and sticky. But the flavor was excellent once all ingredients were tossed together. For me, it can be awkward to evenly toss long pasta shapes with chunky ingredients, and with lessened moistness it was especially so with this linguine. Perhaps a nice alternative would be to use a shorter pasta shape, like gemelli or mini penne, cut the beans into 1 or 1.5 inch pieces, and quarter the tomatoes. I'll try this recipe again with these changes because, again, the flavor was delicious and the colors looked appetizing.

If you really savor the creaminess of the ricotta and the bright flavor of the tomatoes, this dish is decent. But it tastes pretty healthy and bland. The flavor is definitely subtle. I love Giada, but this tastes like a diet dish. It is not something I'll be making often.

It is rare for my husband, 3 year old son, 9 month old daughter and myself to all enjoy the same dinner at the same time. This recipe did it! We finished the whole pot in no time, and there was not one complaint. It was also VERY EASY to make. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish. A great weeknight meal when you are pressed for time!

Made this tonight for my husband and myself. It was easy and delicious. The tomatoes and green beans gave this dish the feeling of Spring that we have been waiting for. (There's still snow on the ground here in Minnesota!) I knew my husband would want some type of meat in the dish so I picked up a roasted chicken from the grocery store and shredded a few pieces and tossed it in. Worked perfectly. This dish is another keeper. Thanks Giada!

I had never had ricotta cheese before so I didn't know how bland it was. I was really looking forward to this recipe but no matter how much I seasoned it, it had no taste and was soggy due to the 1 cup of pasta water. I followed the directions exactly and I had to throw it all away.

This was a great base recipe. My mom has Type II diabetes and this was the perfect recipe for her. I used frozen french-style green beans and wheat penne. I added chopped onion, grated parmesan, cooked diced chicken, garlic powder, and a little seasoning salt. Like I said this was a great "Base" recipe. So I made it my own. Thanks Giada.

I'm generally not a big pasta lover, but this was fabulous. The lemon zest added a tremendous amount of light crisp flavor. I used about twice the amount of ricotta required which made it extra creamy and delicious.

I loved this recipe! It was easy to make and very light, it was great served next to spicy Italian sausage! The only thing was everyone added lots of salt and pepper to their plate because it was a little bland (and probably could have used more lemon).

This was a tasty recipe, if you don't care for whole wheat pasta by all means use regular pasta. To the other viewers, I noticed alot of you said it was bland. People please use common sense when making any recipe from someone else, you have to season it to taste, if you notice they don't use alot of seasoning and you know you like seasoning then season it to your taste. Most of these chefs except Paula Dean and Emeril do not season their food much at all, so you have to use common sense.

I loved the burst of tomatoes in this dish! I used frozen and thawed french-cut green beans instead of fresh to make it a bit faster. I forgot to add the lemon zest, but I will be sure to add it when I have the leftovers. I will definitely be making this again!

This was very easy and a great way to use the abundance of fresh green beans I have this time of year. Next time I would increase the amount of garlic and wouldn't skip the lemon zest - it seemed to be missing a little something and I think the zest would help remedy that.

I thought this looked like a really good recipe which would make a good use of some leftover beans I had. It looked better than it actually tasted mainly because I found it to be really bland. I've also realized that neither my husband nor I care for whole wheat pasta. This probably had a big impact on how little we liked this dish. Unfortunately, we won't be making this one again.

...which is a light dish; light meaning low in fat and calories, and also in depth of flavor. It showcases the summer harvest beautifully, especially alongside grilled corn-on-the-cob and tamari-marinated crookneck squash. I did use twice the ricotta called for, but with all the extra veg's, beans and tomatoes included, who cares?? Giada is one of the most consistently good chefs on this network.

Wow, just made this for dinner tonight and I loved it. I didn't follow the amounts exactly as I didn't make as much, but you can adjust to your own taste. I loved this dish! It was very easy and quick to make (which is great for weekday meals after work and the gym). I added extra water and extra ricotta to make it even creamier. Nex time, I would use a less lemon zest since it overpowers the taste of the green beans and ricotta. The only disappointment was that the recipe did not match the one used on the show. I was lucky that I watched the show a few days before and remembered Giada's steps. Giada's recipe is better than the one published here.

I don't understand the negative reviews either. How can a dish be bland with the zest of an entire lemon in it? What I like about it is that the flavor is CLEAN (not bland!), and is is easy enough to make in the middle of the week. I've made it twice, and last time I added a little cooked chicken on top to have some more protein.

Wow! What a hit! My kids loved it! We are gluten-free and dairy-free and we only needed a few easy substitutions. Substituted the pasta for corn spaghetti (haven't found gluten-free linguine yet) and used a tofu bean dip (Toby's original tofu pate) for the ricotta. A little salt and pepper, to taste, and tah-dah!......My kids never like anything new...So Awesome....Thanks Giada, Thanks Food Network!!!

Every time I see a recipe that isn't baking, I tell myself don't worry about following anything precisely - only baking is a "science". Totally true in this case - measuring and even a recipe is a waste of time. If the ingredients are for you, use them as much or as little as you prefer. This recipe had 3 steps too many. All you had to do was cook pasta, mix and eat. For all the instructions, it tasted bland, was too dry-even with extra pasta water. But mainly alot of to-do for just a plain old dish. No pizazz.

After reading the review, I too can not understand the bad ratings. I did not think it was bland at all, however I did use all organic ingredients which I think brings out and enhances the flavors 10 times more in food! I normally do not follow things to a T, I mean come on a recipe is a guide line when it comes to a dish like this salt, peper & garlic to your own tasting and likes! Since I do have a carnivor husband I did add a little panchetta to this dish and it was great....suggestions lemon pepper chicken I am sure that would taste excellent as well...Giada did say that this was a light summer dish

This dish was a hit at my house. Easy to make, quick, light and TONS of flavor!!! I've been slow to switch to the whole-wheat pasta and after this dish I can imagine making other pasta dishes with whole wheat. The ricotta makes it creamy, you'll never miss the extra calories of cream!! I added some plain grilled chicken for some protein. The lemon zest adds a great surprise finish to the dish. This will definately be in regular rotation at our house.

The proportions given here cannot be the same as used on the show. Using these proportions, there is too much pasta and not enough garlic, beans, or tomatoes. The recipe was very bland. It doesn't even look like the one made during the show. I would advise decreasing the pasta to vegetables ratio, while keeping the cheese and water the same.

I saw Giada prepare this pasta one morning and used the recipe that evening for a small dinner party of 4 people. I used Tomato-Basil pasta and added some chopped fresh basil at the end. My guests raved and we ate almost all of it. Very easy and very delicious. Thanks Giada

This is a good side dish. Yes, it was bland, but I added parmesan cheese and it worked. The colors of the green beans and the tomatoes made it a pretty presentation. This would make a good pot luck dish because it's quick and easy. Just don't forget to add the parmesan cheese. I would make this again.

Very easy to make and is a great way to use fresh veggies from my garden. Loved the creaminess of the low-fat ricotta and that it hardly added any extra fat or calories. I've never used it before, so this was a great find and will use it in other recipies. I didn't have the lemon zest so I used lemon pepper, which worked great. You really need the lemon flavor to give it some zing. I also added fresh basil (which I love), which added great flavor. I can see many other ways to change up this recipe and make it your own - use snap peas instead of beans, or add a little gouda cheese on top to give it a kick. Sun-dried tomatoes or a little sun-dried tomato pesto in this would be awesome too....

I loved this dish! Using fresh veggies is very important...as are the french green beans. They are much sweeter than the regular ones. I also added a touch of freshly grated parmesean on top and some chopped fresh basil. If you don't like whole wheat noodles, they will taste grainy. I prefer Barilla PLUS noodles because they are softer but better for you than the white flour noodles.

I was looking for something different and this was it. We all thought it was very good -- not bland at all. It was light and refreshing. I did use regular lingini instead of the whole wheat though and followed the recipe completely. The purpose of this show was to eat light & healthy and this recipe reflected that. If you don't like ricotta cheese you won't like it in a dish but don't blame the dish for it. I enjoyed the texture of the ricotta in this dish because I really like ricotta.

I think the key to this recipe is using very fresh, quality cherry tomatoes and green beens. I also increased the amount of garlic, added some parmesan cheese and a drizzle of meyer lemon olive oil. My husband and I both really enjoyed it. I'll be making it again, perhaps adding fresh herbs like basil or oregano and additional vegetables.

Normally, I would never write a review for a recipe... but after making this awful pasta by Giada, I just had to share my opinion for anyone even thinking about making this for his/her family. After spending the time to make this dish, I just had to throw the whole thing out! It was truly inedible and a waste of time -- the ricotta cheese makes for a very unappetizing texture, and the whole dish is screaming for flavor. I tried to tweak the recipe to give it more taste, but no matter what I tried it was unsalvageable. After one bite, I tossed it. Also, the taste of the whole-wheat pasta didn't add a thing to the flavor department. Bland, bland, bland!!! On a side note, I wish the Food Network would showcase more of Dave Lieberman's cooking. Just about all of his recipes deserve 5 stars and yet Food Network continues to air more of Giada's mediocre cooking, even giving her more shows. In the past, I've tried her recipes just because they look appetizing on TV, but personality aside, I don't think her recipes are anything to brag about. This might be the last time I give one of her recipes a chance.

Really don't care for the whole wheat pasta - kind of gummy and sticky. Also, Giada needs to have her "lemon license" suspended. She uses lemon, zest or both in 80% of her recipes. It's getting really old.

I fixed this with marinated grilled chicken tenderloins and whole wheat French bread. I added 1/2 onion, thinly sliced in with the green beans and more ricotta and salt than the recipe called for but, overall, it was a big hit!

Generally I love Giada's recipes. This one lacked depth. My ricotta was grainy, not creamy and the whole wheat pasta just got sticky. I would omit the ricotta, add some basil, and enjoy.

Thank you Giada for giving us healthy recipes for bikini season. I will probably tweek this recipe in the future with different greens and cheeses but a great basic. We live near the water and I am always looking for beach friendly dishes!

We actually made this slightly healthier by using only 2 tsps oil and Pam spray with olive oil (or butter works too). Great dish though!

This recipe was worth a shot, but although it was light, lemony, and satisfying it wasn't that delicious. It's a quick, healthy meal for your family, but not a show stopper for guests. I added sauteed chicken, for my carnivorous husband.

I did not like this receipe at all. It was bland and dry. Perhaps I just don't like whole wheat pasta, but overall very low flavor

Giada makes everything look so easy and mouth watering. I don't really care too much for a lot of wheat foods, but this one looked great. And she cooked it so quickly and made it looked so good in presentation. She makes me want to go to the store and buy everything she used. Giada is so much fun to watch and keeps in mind, foods that are figure friendly.
