I did not care for this sandwich the way he prepared it with the arugula mayo and the cheese, but I think I can definitely use it as a building block to make a fantastic steak sandwich. I think the mayo will be fine without the arugula and maybe with just a bit of seasoned salt. I did not care for the cheese, but this was my first time (and last) trying gruyere. Next time I will use a different kind of cheese. The steak part was excellent. Will keep plugging away at this one until I get it right.

Restaurant Quality!

The best steak sandwich I've ever had-restaurant quality-the arugula mix with the separate cheese mix was a perfect blend of flavors and very satisfying. The cheese is expensive but well worth the treat every now & then-so easy my teenager made it for dinner for the five of us! Thanks again, Tyler, for another delicious recipe!

fennel slaw was flavorless

I am a hugh fan of fennel, and tried the slaw tonite. It was very bland. What a disappointment.

not so much

This is a lot of work for a sandwich - totally overwrought for my taste. When I was growing up a steak sandwich was good steak on toasted bread. That's good enough for me (maybe a little horseradish cream sauce). It's a total waste of good prime rib to mask the flavor by smoothering it in cheese sauce, arugula and fennel.

Truly the Ultimate

Though between the cheese and the steak this was among the most expensive sandwiches I've ever made (only used half the cheese, so if I can find something else to do with it, that'll help), but this was one of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had. I substituted spinach leaves for the arugala since it was handy and it came out fantastically. If you can afford the ingredients, I'd strongly recommend putting one of these together.

This Sandwich is King!

Tyler hit it out of the park on this one. It is definitively the Ultimate Steak Sandwich. And then some. I didn't make the fennel slaw because fennel isn't my favourite. I topped each sandwich with fresh arugula. A perfect Super Bowl Sunday Sammy! Thanks, Tyler!

It lives up to "Ultimate"

For those of us who are fairly average cooks, this kind of thing is a revelation! It's easy, and SO worth trying; you'll be glad you did!!

Really good

We've made the sandwich part (no slaw) twice and really like it. The steak was so tender and perfect and the mayo & cheese sauce is really good for something different. We're going to use the steak part as the base for a more traditional philly to try it and I know that will be great too. Nice base recipe for any kind of stead sandwich.

It's really good, I used emmentaler, and did not use the fennel slaw. But it was a delicious creamy version of a steak sandwich.

Great recipe, as always from Tyler. I added extra horseradish and lots of salt to the cheese sauce; otherwise it would have been bland. I also topped the cheese sauce with carmelized onions (sauteed in butter, with a little brown sugar at the end). The mayo had a refreshing taste, but for extra flavor I might try a pesto mayo next time.

Wanted to lick the plate

The way the meat is prepared is outstanding! Very tender and perfectly done. However, the cheese the mayo - I felt like it was a lot of work and did not add that much to the sandwich. I will do the same meat next time but maybe just add some seasoning and add the traditional cheese, onions, mushrooms, etc...

Absolutely Delicious

We loved this steak sandwich. I will definitely make again. The only thing I would do differently is make about 1/4 of the cheese sauce and arugula mayonnaise. I have quite a bit of leftover of each.

Good

I like this steak sandwich, but prefer it more the philly way....wiz wit. Sauteed onions, mushrooms....bacon is a nice twist as well.

If you love rib eyes you gotta try this!

I have to admit that after reading one of the reviews that says this was alot of work (even though many reviewers mentioned how delicious this was) I shelved this recipe 'cuz I'm a tad lazy. Well, my husband came home with two rib eyes one night and I decided to go for it. I used my electric carving knife to thinly slice the steaks and before I knew it I was pounding and grilling away and eating the most delicious and juiciest steak sandwiches we have ever had. Using the electric knife was key to making this easy. I'm so glad I tried this and we may never eat rib eye any other way again LOL.

My husband and I watched Tyler make this sandwich and dashed off immediately for the ingredients. We've made it again and again. It's so delish, we can't wait to serve it to our friends - close friends, that we won't mind seeing us with sauce on our chins!

The sandwich was outstanding. However the recipe for the arugula mayo that is written on the website is different that how he makes it on the show. How does that happen????I followed the printed recipe and it was the "ultimate" steak sandwich. Lots of extra cheese sauce - may make them again tonight to use up leftover mayo and sauce!!!!

This sandwich is a lot of work to make. Not difficult, just time consuming. My husband and I did not care for the final outcome either. Not a fan of the fennel slaw, either. The cheese sauce was good.

Yum!

So delish - the only think I wasn't crazy about was the Fennel slaw, but I am not a big fan of fennel so that is to be expected. The cheese sauce and arugula mayo are so yummy - had lots of that stuff left over so I have been using it all week on my sandwiches for lunch! The steak was so easy and delish...this will be come a regular meal in my house!

It was too funny to see the reaction from our butcher when I asked him for thinly sliced rib eye. He was so curious as to what I was making with it and it was a good thing I had the recipe in my hand to show him. He said, "Wow, that's going to make some great sandwich!" and boy was he right. Thanks, Tyler
