Rave reviews!

I make an all-time favorite hot crab dip for friends and family but when I made this they all went nuts. Couldn't stop going on about how delicious it was. The tomatoes and crackers were perfect accompaniments. I will continue to make my hot dip but will make this one occasionally to really wow them!

FANtastic recipe

This was super easy and tasted really really good. I actually doubled the cream cheese amount to temper the mayonnaise taste a little bit and added a full pound of crab. Yum.

Good recipe, adjust levels of cream cheese

This recipe was good, but the recipe online calls for one cup of cream cheese. From what I saw on tv, Tyler added what looked to be a large dollop, or perhaps a 1/3 cup of cream cheese. I adjusted the recipe so it was half a cup each cream cheese/mayo. I think this ratio works much better, and may remedy the poor reviews commenting on the "blandness."

Flavors together are good

I agree that the dip is a little on the bland side by itself. However, I found that the melody of flavors together (cracker, dip and tomato) was very enjoyable.

Thanks Tyler, this is great! The cream cheese flavor makes the crab dip fantastic. Before now, I only used sour cream & mayo. The butter & garlic flavor on the crackers is delicious. The cracker recipe is also a "hit" because it is easy to prepare.

I think that the recipe is awesome, but, I think that you should make it so that when we go to print it, it prints JUST the recipe, and not 10 dollars worth of ink on pictures.

THE BEST!!!

I honestly do not understand the negative reviews. This dip is OUTSTANDING. Yes, it's expensive to make (if you do it the right way with Jumbo Lump Crab Meat) but 100% worth it. I've made it for guests several times and they ALWAYS ask for the recipe. Make extra crackers... people can't get enough of them!! Thanks Tyler... once again you make me look like a chef!

Good start....

After reading the reviews for this recipe I was prepared to have to ramp up the flavor a bit. 12 oz. to all that cream cheese sounded kind of weak to begin with. Thankfully I had 2 cans of lump waiting for something to do for a long time so the cost was dulled somewhat. Plus I reduced a bottle of clam juice to a third to add more of a seafood flavor. Added a little sour cream so it wasn't so cheesey. Instead of the saltines(????) I sliced a batard thinly, some EVOO, then crisped up in the oven. Overall, a winner after much expensive tweaking.

Amazing

Oh...my...God! This is fabulous! I wasn't sure about the tomatoes, but they make it pop. Make sure to make extra crackers, they're good all by themselves!

Worth repeating...again and again

This was awesome; made this for company and it received rave reviews (and a request for the recipe). I added a little cayenne as suggested by previous reviewers, but it didn't need anything else. Refrigerating for an hour or so before serving helps meld the flavors.

Total Waste

Saltines were nice, dip was a drab, flavorless waste of time. After 1st taste I added lemon and parsley, still nothing. Asked guests to critique, they got nothing as well. The cream cheese overwhelms the sweet taste of fresh Dungeness crab we've been eating all of our lives. Later (there was plenty left) added Worcester, cayenne and shallots and got cream cheese with flavorings, just as one would expect. There went $18, for nothing. Notice others who rated this highly also needed to add things.

Simply phenomenal

What a nice dish! I added a little cayenne to the recipe and it added a nice punch. I made the recipe again and baked it @ 450 degrees for 15 minutes. In my opinion, it made the dish considerably better serving it 10 minutes after coming out of the oven. Enjoy!

Smash Hit

Everyone loved this appetizer. I didn't have saltines, so I used Stoned Wheat Thin crackers which worked out well. I served the tomatoes in an oven-proof dish which kept the tomatoes warm and added another dimension to the dip.

Great dip

Really good. I couldn't go the price of lump crab so used a 50/50 mix of claw meat and imitation "krab" and although nothing replaces the taste of lump meat, this worked well. I also added a few capers and chopped artichoke hearts because I had them open in the fridge.

Yum

I really liked this recipe, but it needs a little kick of some kind - something spicy I think. Has anyone tried something like that?

Tried this after watching the show, and what a treat. The mixture is easy and very tasty. I never knew saltines could taste so incredibly good. I'm making this weekend for a get-together.

The cherry tomatoes really give this dip a different flavor. I really enjoyed it. Made it for my girlfriends and they couldn't get enough. In fact, they ate the entire bowl (There was only two of them!) Highly recommend for SMALL parties. (This dip is very expensive!)

I saw Tyler make this dip and thought I would try it. It was easy and I got to use the food processor for the first time. The family really likes the crackers and I am making them as a stand-alone snack. I am experimenting with the new salad spritzers on the crackers now. Great confidence booster.

The flavor combination is a great balance for a simple recipe but it nees something. I will try shallots on my next round and will also try a variation with artichoke!

The "mmmmmm" heard 'round the world!

Each part of this dish can stand on its own. The crackers are unexpected and yummy - the tomatoes are rich and delicious - and the crab dip is out of this world! But let me tell you, when my guests combined all three and popped them in their mouths - their eyes literally rolled back in their heads and there was a collective "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" that could be heard around the world! This was wonderful!

Made this to accompany a fish fry and it was the hit of the afternoon. Very Easy and Delicious. Put together with the tomatoes there was no stopping it. I had to do a second batch of crackers because everyone wanted more!!!***************

How simple and yet so inspiring. Baked saltines...who'd have thought! Delicious and ridiculously easy. Even worked well with crab out of a can. Not often you can say that! Highly recommend.

Best Crab dip I ever had and so easy to make. The cream cheese sure gives it a totally different flavor.
