I doubt Giada would read this but I think she should. When I saw this dish being made I thought that it was the most healthiest dish I ever seen. I live in Middle Village Queens where the neighborhood is mostly Italian and most of the italians here are Sicilian decent(italian here as well forza!). I went to an italian specialty store up the block from my house and to my surprise they did not carry fregola. Wow, lol. I bought couscous instead there. My second choice would of been orzo as the recipe indicated as an alternative. I tell you this was delicious I only had a taste because it's for my lunch for tommorow. Another reviewer said if I'm not mistaken the basil and mint together is to overpowering together. No it's not and since I didn't have fennel seeds I can say the Basil, Mint, and Fennel are practically close in flavors. The mint's punjunt taste gave this salad the pop! Honestly, I have been watching Giada since she's been on the food network since day one. I can say I made about 2 recipes from her and now this. I remember Giada noted that isle people are very well dressed, well this salad is a definite reflection of that. Thanks Giada u rock!!

DELICIOUS!

I made this with Giada's Garlic and Citrus chicken and it was fabulous! The gravy from the chicken on my plate dripped in the salad so i started to pour the gravy on the salad and everyone at the table did as well!! There were only 3 people at the table so with the extra gravy from the chicken I added it to the salad and it will be my lunch and dinner tomorrow! I found the fennel seeds to fit right in this salad.

loved it!

I ordered the pasta off the internet and made this. I loved it before I added the fennel seeds. I liked it with but LOVED it without.

Conflicting Flavors

It seemed refreshing at first, then the citrus, basil, and mint seemed to conflict with eachother. Reminded me of the bad taste someone gets when drinking OJ just after brushing teeth. Seems like most liked it, but it wasn't my personal taste.

Fantastic salad, especially when fregola is slightly warm.

This salad was very light and refreshing. We served it with a mango chutney pork loin and it was awesome. Would recommend if your tired of your old salad.

I love this salad; it is perfect for summer and the combination of flavors works. I actually tried a little "cheffing" myself with a variation, using couscous; it was pretty good. That orange infused olive oil rounds out all the flavors Thanks Giada, another winner.

Healthy snack with lots of citrus flavor

I was interested to use Fregola since I have never worked with it before, and a mix of all the refreshing fruit sounded amazing. When I actually made it, the flavors didn't mix well for my taste. However, my friends ate it heartily and loved it. They said that it tasted very healthy and flavorful. Either way, it was very fun and easy to make!

A friend of mine made this and brought it to a cookout. It is outstanding! What a wonderful combination of flavors. It was made with Orzo. I begged her for the recipe and can't wait to make it myself.

I found this salad to be a perfect match to a lobster dinner. All of my friends really enjoyed the fresh summer flavors.

I used orzo pasta

Like others, I could not find fregola pasta and used orzo .. but because Giada had commented on how the fregola was good because it had a 'toasty' taste .. So I put my orzo in a pan with 1 pat of butter and toasted it gently first .. then cooked it in the broth as directed. Also, when using orzo .. you can use a little less oil in the recipe. I made mine for my cousin who is a professional chef .. and he & his family loved it.

My sister in law gave me some fregola pasta that she picked up in the airport on the way to seeing me and wanted to know what to do with it. Ironicly Giada was showing this dish the next day! It was a hit all around and my sister in law thinks I am a genius. (No, Giada is)

Wondeful! Very refreshing summer salad. I could not find the pasta that Giada used - I used orzo instead. Definately a recipe box keeper!

This was a quick and very flavorful salad that even my picky 5 year old son ate. I used a teaspoon of coarse sea salt and that seemed like a little too much.

The salad is excellent! The flavor is fresh, it is easy to make and different. I always use dressing with my salads and this one does not needed it. We could not find the fregola pasta and we used orzo pasta. It is a different salad with an intense citrus flavor. Do not take my word... make it you will enjoy it!!!
