Delicious! 12/04/2007 at 12:15pm User: Brenda from Huntington Beach, CA User Rating: I've made this recipe twice. The first time, I skipped the onions because my husband doesn't care for them. The sandwich was still delicious. The second time, I sauteed mushrooms instead of onions, and the sandwich was fabulous!! I agree, the mustard/mayo adds so much to the flavoring of the sandwich. We used demi-baguettes (warmed in the oven) and they worked perfectly. This method of cooking a steak makes it turn out just right. Great job, Ina! More, please! Words Fail 11/20/2007 at 05:35pm User: Marianne from Humble, TX User Rating: This is my favorite recipe of all time. All of the flavors and textures are completely, perfectly compatible. So simple but the three men in my family rate it 5 stars. I'm never nervous about preparing one of Ina's recipes for the very first time with important guests coming. We love you Ina! This is a great, quick and easy meal that impresses even the most finicky eater. I will cut my cooking time down 2 minutes for medium rare. I also will use a good toasted white bread. The ciabata was just too much. Invest in some good meat. Its worth it! Cooking Barefoot 07/27/2007 at 10:41am User: Elaine from Colorado Springs, CO User Rating: Another winner from Ina. This sandwich was a huge hit at my house. As for those who perpetually fret about calories in Ina's recipes, I have two words for you: portion control. I own all of Ina's cookbooks and can always count on her recipes to please my friends and family. My reputation as a cook is largely due to her cookbooks and the tips I've learned from her show. I'm sorry for the narrow lives and small worlds inhabited by the people who use this review space as a forum to critique the personal appearance of Ina and other Food Network personalities. Resonse to Comment 07/27/2007 at 09:34am User: JoAnn from New Kensington, PA User Rating: In response to "Anonymous" comment about Ina. I think she is truly lovely. I wish I had her complexion and beautiful hair. She has an easy going, carefree spirit, a wonderful talent, a beautiful home in the Hampton and an absolutely adorable husband who so obviously dotes on her. She has it all. We should all be so lucky. And, she is one of my most favorite chefs and I love her recipes!!!! Love It 07/25/2007 at 10:34pm User: Emily from Gaithersburg, MD User Rating: This recipe was great. The mustard mayo went surprisingly well with the steak and arugula combination. Followed the direction exactly for the steak and it turned out great. All I have to say is.. YUMMY. Cooking Times are deceiving 07/24/2007 at 12:53am User: Steve from Toluca Lake, CA User Rating: Our New York steaks were over an inch thick. After the 1min per side searing, I set the timer for 6mins. The recipe called for 7-10mins, but we like our meat medium/rare, so to be on the safe side, I took it off after 6mins on the low flame. The meat was well done. The recipe calls for the onion rings to cook for 10mins on a medium flame. After 15, ours were still white. It took about 20mins for them to be caramelized. The mayo dressing was great. We left out the sour cream and added some garlic. It was delicious. Next time I will not trust the recipes for cooking times. They weren't even in the ballpark. amazing 07/23/2007 at 08:32pm User: Scott from Saint Louis, MO User Rating: this was an awesome impromptu dinner recipe, as for the reviewer that wanted to criticize the appearance of the chef, remember, its the recipe your reviewing, not the host or chefs appearance...She is amazing wonderful!! 07/23/2007 at 07:26pm User: Kathy from uvalde, TX User Rating: Hey anonymous, why do you have to be so ugly? fabulous! 07/23/2007 at 05:22pm User: Anastacia from Toledo, OH User Rating: Wow - the steak sandwich is awesome. Can't wait to try the brownies she made too! Hubby loved it!!! 07/23/2007 at 04:46pm User: Leontyne from Saltillo, MS User Rating: Easy to make...worth the money for the steak. Awesome and easy 07/23/2007 at 01:39pm User: Cindy from Chicago, IL User Rating: Great sandwich and so easy to make. I skipped the arugula so I guess I went a little less gourmet but very comforting.
