Not much flavor

User: Lisa from Latimer, IA    User Rating:
I thought it didn't have much flavor. I had to add more cheese to it so that it would taste a little like the mac and cheese we like to eat. Adding sharp cheddar helped a little with the flavor.

Delicious

use whole wheat pasta & more cheese
04/16/2008 at 04:43pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I put in 3 cups of cheese instead of 2, then sprinkled more on top. To make it healthier since I was feeling guilty with all the butter, sour cream and cheese, I used whole wheat pasta and lite sour cream! You could not taste the difference between wheat pasta and regular pasta. Do not cook for more than 30 min, it started to burn, and I even covered it with tin foil.

I followed the recipie carefully, wanting to prepare a really good dish for some special children. It was dry and clumpy. I was very disappointed.

I make this recipe all the time and have never had a complaint. Everyone always asks for more. I made it for friends after they had their 2nd child, and they raved about it! I will make it again and again?it?s great for dinner at home, potlucks, parties?anything! I always add extra cheese to the recipe and top it with a couple handfuls too. This recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks Miss Paula!!

Not bad

User: Lindsay from Bloomington, IN    User Rating:
Interesting texture. The hotter this is served, the better. I found that the taste was less cheesy and a lot more mild as it cooled. I also do not think this keeps well as a left-over. However, all of my guests enjoyed it thoroughly.

This will replace my usual mac 'n cheese recipe!

This turned out great. I'll definitely be making this again and again. I used low fat sour crem and reduced the butter a tad.

Had better, had worse

I liked this recipe okay but probably won't make it again. The thing that made me not like it is the use of eggs. Now, I use only egg whites so that could have made a difference, but I could definitely taste them and it didn't seem to 'fit' with the dish.

Just noticed that the serving size is just for 2? Does anyone have any recommendations for how long and wha t adjustments should be made for a group of 10?

A few changes

User: PATT from Albuquerque, NM    User Rating:
Perhaps, in the part of the country Paula grew up in, adding many eggs to mac & cheese is standard but, to this recipe, I added just one egg + 1/16th tsp. Tabasco + 1 cup white Cheddar to the 2 cups yellow. Have prep'd, also, using half Pepperjack and half yellow cheddar (no tabasco). I believe we Americans have 1492 recipes for mac and cheese!!

I am, shall we say, a beginner when it comes to cooking so if I can do this, anyone can. I will definately make it again. Perhaps with a few different types of cheese or some tabasco. That's what is great about Paula's basic recipes, you can play with them.

Super easy, and I (oops) added way too much sour cream and it STILL was great!!! Made the Giada mac and cheese at the same time- both for a picnic. This one is much better- so much that I will not even take the other dish. I have made the AB one too and this one is by far easier and better.

Absolutely Yummy!!!

I'm very fussy about my mac'n cheese so I was skeptical. This is excellent! Very simple to make--reheats and freezes well. I added breadcrumbs to the top before baking to get that yummy, crunchy topping we all love. Great to make and keep on hand for late suppers....

very good

easy, good mac and cheese... couplea tips: use softened butter, butter the pan to prevent sticking (ours stuck even with butter on the pan) and cover while cooking for the first 30 min or so, then uncovered or the macaroni gets really hard in spots.

Once again a great recipe from Paula. The best thing about this dish is that you can keep adding cheeses for the 'kids' in your family.

I made this macaronia for my family because they thought the baked macaroni I grew up with was tasteless. Wow! Everyone loved this recipe, including my very particular 14 yr old. Lots of cheesy taste, with a little bite, and very creamy. Worth making this - you won't have to worry about leftovers.
