Loved it for many reasons.

This will, no doubt, become your failsafe lasagna recipe. Just enough ingredients to make you feel you're really cooking, wonderfully authentic flavors, and easy enough to keep a big dinner stress free (especially if you substitute "no boil" lasagna noodles). I've made it three times and have never been disappointed. Other than the no boil noodles, my only change was adding extra ricotta cheese mixture..family preference. Don't be afraid of the spicy sausage, it adds a perfect flavor, not spicy at all. This is absolutely my all time favorite lasagna recipe.

Big hit with the family

This was my first attempt at totally from scratch lasagna. Well besides the noodles. My family loved it. We followed the directions to a T. (WE: My 10y/o daughter helped. She wants to attend culinary school when she graduates high school. So she helps a lot in the kitchen.) Although it was very hard to wait for it to finish cooking; it gives off a very nice aroma.

Really enjoyed the lasagna - but i thought the meat sauce lacked the punch i like. Next time around i will use a spicer sausuage to give it a bit more zest

GREAT RECIPE

I made this for the first time last week and my family loved it,especially the sauce. The only problem I found with the recipe was the amount of parsley to use so I added what I thought was the right amount I didn't have the red wine so I added what I had it still turned out great. My grandson loved the sauce so much he ate a bowl by itself. I also used the sauce for spagetti. Easy and wonderful recipe.A repeat for my family

EXCELLENT

My family is Italian and I have my Grandma's lasagna recipe, which is what I usually prepare. We just moved and the recipes are packed away, so I decided to try this one. It turned out fantastic. I used 1/2 and 1/2 of hot and sweet Italian sausage mixed with the beef, but otherwise kept everything the same. Paired it with Fettucine Alfredo and Mozzarella Garlic Bread. I will definitely be using this recipe again - Thanks Emeril!!

Liked it but....

I thought it was a good recipe, but my only issue is that it didn't call for enough ricotta cheese and i had to stop midway through and go buy more

This was an excellent recipe! It took a while to make but was well worth it. I would suggest making lots of meat sauce and freezing some for next time.

I'm not the best chef. Actually I'm not very good at all. But, I love lasagna and I love my boyfriend, so I decided to give it a shot and I'm glad I did!!! He loved it, and I must say, it was delicious. I liked that it made extra sauce, because I could freeze it and use it for other pasta dishes, because it was quite delicious. Great recipe!!!

Wonderful & Easy Lasagna Recipe

I've been using this lasagna recipe for several years & I've made a few adjustments to the original recipe and have always received rave reviews! First, I omit the carrots from the recipe. I also add a can of diced tomatoes for texture & a pinch of sugar along with the crushed tomatoes. Rather than using the various cheeses, I substitute a shredded Italian cheese mix which has always turned out great. I've also found that ground turkey is a wonderful substitute to the beef & makes the lasagna a little more healthy. Overall, this is a great & easy to make recipe....definitely a keeper!

This is wonderful. I was scared I wouldn't be able to find this recipe again after so long. It does take time to prepare, but it is so worth it. I didn't use all of the sauce and used it later for spaghetti.

perfect recipe to the tee-recommendations: if not making own pasta sauce, use VICTORIA'S BOLOGNESE and then add the ground beef, spicy sausage, onion, garlic, basil, oregano and carrot

We loved it !!

This was the first time I made lasagna (my husband usually would make it). I got rave reviews for this "first attempt". It was really really delicious and I'll definitely be putting this recipe in my regular rotation!! Agree with the other posters about the mods needed to the recipe. Again, LOVE IT!!

Great if you make a few changes

The recipe itself has its problems, as others have mentioned. But, here's what I've been doing and the sauce and lasagna has come out fantastic several times: For the meat sauce...are people using three different 28oz cans of tomatoes? I don't. I've just used one 28oz can, since it seemed crazy to use so much more. 28oz and the other ingredients make for the perfect amount of sauce for one lasagna. I also use more mozzarella and more parmesan than indicated. I use shredded parmesan, and just crumbled up the fresh mozzarella. It works great. Also, slightly less basil and oregano. It was a bit overpowering to use the full measurements indicated. Maybe if you are supposed to really use 3 different 28oz cans of tomatoes it is not so overpowering though. ;) Serve with garlic bread and it's a yummy "comfort" meal.

Easy and Delicious!

It was the first time both me and my boyfriend cooked lasagna. We figured this recipe required the least amount of ingredients. It was pretty easy preparing and the result was absolutely excellent. I think it's a great one to try for the first timers.

Good, but incomplete
10/02/2005 at 03:46pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I agree with earlier reviewers. The ingredients list should be . . . 9 Lasagna Noodles, 12 oz (or 15?)Ricotta, 1 egg, 2 tsp. fresh parsley, 1 C. grated Parmesan (divided in half), 12 oz shredded Mozzarella and I used 4 C. of the Meat Sauce. Wonderful sauce and great to freeze some for future lasagnas or to make a couple more and freeze. Thanks for the good basic recipe!

Can I have seconds please?

Good flavor

User: MATTHEW from atl, GA    User Rating:
Once the lasagna was made, the flavor was good. However the ingredients list leaves something to be desired. It calls for 10 noodles but only tells you to use 9 of them. It mentions combining the parsley but never mentions the parsley in the ingredients list. It calls for ? cup of parmesan but tells you to use a full cup. You also cannot buy grated mozzarella, and I found it very difficult to grate a soft cheese. Shredded works just as well. -Amanda, GA

Good recipe, Bad writing

User: JOHN from San Diego, CA    User Rating:
First off, I would like to begin that I am an amateur cook, but I am an experienced writer. I found the recipe to be rather tasty. The meat sauce is flavorful and rather excellent. Aside from that, I found the recipe rather sketchy on details at times. Things of note are: * The meat sauce recipe makes enough for 3-4 lasagnas. If you only want to prepare enough sauce for one lasagna, cut the portions by a third. * One only needs 9 lasagna noodles for a tray, not ten. I put the last one as a fourth layer across the top. * The Ricotta mix should be spread thinly across the noodles. If you find you have extra, you can spread it more thickly across the top noodles. Read the recipe through and look for any inconsistencies before you begin so you can anticipate any other potential issues.

I love this recipe!
