Very flavorful 12/30/2005 at 02:23pm User: Michelle from Mission Viejo, CA User Rating: Loved this stuffing-you have to try it. DRY 12/27/2005 at 12:13pm User: Christine from greensburg, PA User Rating: I took advice of other users and poured on extra chicken stock before baking. Was still very dry. Combination of ingredients was good but not sure I would use this recipe again. recipe not too dry! 12/18/2006 at 07:30pm User: Debra from Temecula, CA User Rating: After reading the other reviews, a lot of people commented that the recipe was too dry. I think they may have missed the last ingredient which calls for 2-3 cups of stock. With this I think the recipe's perfect. Also, use Granny Smith apples and sage sausage! Way too dry as recipe is written 12/15/2006 at 10:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Use three boxes of Stove Top, add 2 cups of water and 2 cups of chx broth. Add only one stick of butter and follow directions as otherwise stated. Turns out amazingingly yummy, not too greasy and all the flavors really come through yummy 12/15/2004 at 05:24am User: BELINDA from los angeles, CA User Rating: I made this for thanksgiving and it was a big hit, first time cooking a big meal, I actually stuffed it in the turkey-I made it again recently with pork chops so good! very very yummy 12/11/2004 at 09:39am User: CHRISTINE from west babylon, NY User Rating: this was so good!! it was a family hit .definitly will be here for christmas!! Nice crunch 12/10/2005 at 03:34pm User: Barbara from Mission Hills, CA User Rating: It was very good, not enough sausage flavor. The walnuts added a nice crunch Well Recieved at the table 11/30/2006 at 02:44pm User: Stacey from Fort Worth, TX User Rating: Although the instructions don't give you the pkg size for the stuffing, large can be anything. I used three standard box's of Stove top, used 32 oz of chicken stock instead of water ( for more flavor) and it still needed more moisture. I would use at least another can of stock and used sage sausage. IT WAS WONDERFUL. The flavors were right on. It was delicious! GOOD STUFF 11/30/2005 at 07:05pm User: Zulema from Grover Beach, CA User Rating: VERY GOOD... My family talked about his stuffing for days. 11/29/2006 at 09:59am User: Sara and Nate from Fort Mill, SC User Rating: I only used two bags of stuffing and a pound and a half of sausage and cooked everything like it said, Until the oven part. We then put it in the crock pot and let it cook on low for an hour and a half then on warm for about two and a half hours. Man it was awsome. My family is still talking about this suasage after one try it made it to the family holiday recipe book. Wonderful flavor combination 11/29/2006 at 07:12am User: CHARMAIN from Waynesboro, GA User Rating: the flavors in the recipe are excellent combination. It was a little dry but I think that was my fault. I adjusted some of the ingredients and most likely didn't add enough liquids. But without a doubt I'll fix it again and again. Add extra broth!! 11/27/2006 at 10:16pm User: Polly from west Des Moines, IA User Rating: After reading the reviews, I was prepared for this yummy side dish to need a little extra liquid. I doubled the liquid, but on Thanksgiving Day the stuffing was still too dry. I'd reserved a small casserole-sized dish for a day or so later. When it came time to cook it, I added chicken broth about half way up the pan. Perfect! I cooked it according to directions and the stuffing had terrific flavor and was nice and moist. outstanding 11/26/2004 at 09:03pm User: BARBARA from lakeside, CA User Rating: This was a great recipe. After reading the previous reviews I used the MacIntosh apples, and fat free chicken broth instead of water. It was delicious cooked in the turkey or without. I did both. I passed it to my sister and she had rave review also. The Holiday Sweet Potatoes from last year did not return this year and that recipe was also great. I had many compliments and recipe wanters also. Exceptional !!! 11/26/2004 at 11:43am User: MIANNA from Thousand Oaks, CA User Rating: I made this yesterday for my Thanksgiving dinner. I wanted to try a new recipe, something savory. And boy oh boy was this the winning recipe! Everyone loved it and I will definitely keep this recipe as my dressing of choice. I used the MacIntosh apples, but will try granny smith next time. Awesome... 11/25/2006 at 11:13pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was easy to make and everyone claims it to be the best they have tasted! Julia Childs recipe is MUCH better 11/25/2006 at 11:07am User: susie from hackettstown, NJ User Rating: This was way too dry even after adding extra broth. After pouring all the breading in a bowl I realized there was way too much of it. I took some out and still there was too much. Hardly any flavor. I won't make this again, no one even ate it. What size bags? 11/25/2006 at 09:33am User: Anonymous User Rating: Way too dry for our group. The recipe calls for large bags. We used 1-lb bags. The sausage, apple, celery mix had a wonderful taste and I'm sure the stuffing would have been great if I hadn't used so much stuffing. WOW!! 11/25/2004 at 01:27pm User: BECKY from louisville, KY User Rating: Normally, I hate stuffing...they all taste the same. But this...THIS is soooo good! My whole family (including grandpa, who normally makes his own stuffing, and doesn't vary) loved it. All the flavors blended so well together, and combined with the turkey, it was absolutely marvelous. The recipe doesn't say what kind of apples to use, but I used Gala, and it worked great. Too bad I didn't make a double recipe;) Excellent stuffing! 11/25/2004 at 12:14pm User: STEPHEN from burbank, CA User Rating: I made the stuffing with the Macintosh apples and it came out great. I may experiment with Granny Smith's during the year. like sawdust, if you follow the recipe 11/24/2006 at 10:18am User: Anonymous User Rating: I wonder if 3 large bags of dry stuffing mix is a typo. 3 large bags is waaaay too much for only 2 cups of water, and waaaay too much to fit in a 9x13 inch dish. By the time I realized this and tried to save the stuffing with more butter and with chicken broth, it still wasn't enough. We threw it away and had Thanksgiving without stuffing. Ingredients are good, but just use maybe 1 bag of stuffing. sausage and apple dressing 11/24/2006 at 12:27am User: Anonymous User Rating: I prepared this dressing also. It was a hit with everyone. It was easy to make and tastes good. This can be made throughout the year, complimenting even my pork dishes. Thank's . not enough liquid 11/23/2006 at 05:51pm User: S from Des Moines, WA User Rating: 3 large bags of cornbread stuffing require MORE THAN just 2 C of water total. In fact, the stuffing bag says to use 2 cups for the bag. So, I added 3-4 more cups water; if I hadn't done so, the stuffing would have basically been croutons. Great Stuffing 11/23/2006 at 11:19am User: Christine from Auburn, WA User Rating: My husband won't make any other stuffing. At Thanksgiving, I can't get near the stuffing. The entire family enjoys it as well. Easy and delicious 11/22/2006 at 10:41pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfectly. Thank you! Sooo Delicious!!! 11/20/2007 at 08:12pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I made this last year and it was such a hit, my family requested again this year!! Delicious 11/20/2006 at 03:44pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe was very easy, the ingredients were easy to find, but best of all it was delicious. Everyone loved it. Sauage and Apple Stuffing 11/20/2006 at 03:33pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Great Superb 11/20/2006 at 10:04am User: Anonymous User Rating: Served with rave reviews. Definitely worth repeating-- this recipe will be added to the "must-haves" for our holidays! Best stuffing I have EVER had 11/19/2006 at 09:41pm User: Kimberly from Wenatchee, WA User Rating: This stuffing will have your guests wanting your recipe and tons of ooohs and awes. It is hearty, full of flavor, and is good cooked in our out of a turkey. Every year for three years:) 11/19/2004 at 06:51pm User: ELIZABETH from Port Charlotte, FL User Rating: I have made this recipe every year for the past three years. It is now a family tradition. I have 15 for dinner so I double the recipe. Really YUMMY! Yum-O 11/18/2006 at 10:35am User: Anonymous User Rating: I have made this stuffing 2 years in a row and this year people are BEGGING for it. It's so delicious! Just Like Mom's! 11/14/2004 at 12:22pm User: LESLIE from Cuero, TX User Rating: Yummy! Just the perfect amounts of sage and thyme. I halved the recipe and found that the ingredients were more than overflowing in a 9 x 13 pan. I would say the whole recipe is enough for two pans. Also, for half the recipe, after I put the stuffing in the 9 x 13, I poured a little more than half a can of chicken broth over the whole pan. Get your hands in there and mash it all together to make sure it's moist enough. Add a little more broth, if needed. Definitely a keeper! Not enough details. 11/12/2004 at 08:39pm User: NICOLE from Las Vegas, NV User Rating: It says 2 large bags of cornbread stuffing. How many ounces/pounds is large???? What kind of apples should I use??? Another reviewer recommended MacIntosh, but that sort of information should be included by the person who wrote the recipe. Croud didn';t like it 09/17/2006 at 04:09pm User: BARBARA from campbell, CA User Rating: They weren't to fond of this mix. I guess some people are just comfortable with the same old box mix that they grew up with. It certainly is different that what we were used to but I thought it was ok. Tasty but dry 08/07/2007 at 09:53pm User: Frankee from Strongsville, OH User Rating: Had to add extra stock, but good none the less. Pretty good 07/12/2007 at 12:42pm User: Stacy from Lake Elsinore, CA User Rating: I personally did not think it was great. I made it for Thanksgiving and I got a lot of good reviews from the guest. Delicious! 07/12/2004 at 04:54pm User: ANGELA from Wayne, NJ User Rating: I made this for thanksgiving last year, and it has become one of my signature dishes. May be a little dry, so use extra butter/water. Also, Macintosh apples are the perfect choice for this recipe. Stuffing 07/10/2006 at 06:20pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Different than the usual stuffing for holiday meals. Simple, tasty and displays marvelously. The crunch of the apples make it perfect. a new Thanksgiving tradition 02/23/2006 at 11:22pm User: Karen from Berkeley, CA User Rating: I made Thanksgiving for the first time this year and added this to my menu. It is definitely going to return for many, many years to come. Cornbread, sausage, and apples make this fall side dish super delicious! Amazing! 02/04/2005 at 01:20pm User: LINDSAY from Brooklyn, NY User Rating: Convinced the family to try this recipe instead of the pre-packaged kind this thanksgiving and it was a hit! Will definitely be making it again. Very good 01/05/2006 at 11:28am User: Trisha from Las Vegas, NV User Rating: now i wasn't so sure about this one apples in my stuffing but it was really good.. |
