This cake is not difficult to make - but I don't think it was worth the time. It did get good reviews by my guests - but I did not like the texture of the cake part - nor did I find the cake part particularly "chocolatey." I might make the recipe again - but substitute a different recipe for the cake part. I would still use the pudding and ganache. Those were quite tasty.

easy

This is a wonderful and very rich cake. It was my first cake to make from the ground up. Although it has many steps and does take a good bit of time, it is surprisingly simple. It also presents very well.

good gosh, great ganche

I gave this recipe four stars only coz the cake was too much work! Otherwise, this chocoholics delight was quite a hit at my home! I used espresso coffee to brush my cake instead of the Grand Mariner, and it was just delish! Thanks, Emeril!

Beautiful Cake!

This cake wasn't hard too make, but was an all day process ( including the time it has to set in fridge.) The pudding and the ganache were good. The cake was terrible. It was dry and hard, even after letting it get to room temperature. I made it as a surprise for my husband's birthday and my guests hardly touched it. I was very embarrassed and disappointed. If I ever make it again, I'll use a boxed cake mix, that's at least moist, and make the pudding and ganache for it.

I don't know about the other reviews....but the cake was moist, smooth and very chocolatey.I made it for my mom in law's B-day and it was a hit! I followed the recipe almost exactly, except I didn't do the grand marnier or chill it for all 6 hours. The whole cake recipe was a process but well worth it, and the calories too. I have made many chocolate cakes before and this one is the one I will make for her every year.
