Very easy, dough easy to work with. I omitted the powdered sugar and drizzled mine with white chocolate- how beautiful! Good taste- my husband and toddler both enjoyed!!!

Let loaf cool slightly and use a serrated knife. Cant stop eating this delicious biscotti!! My 12 year old son made this, thats how easy it was. I sliced the loaf for him but he did the rest and they were great! Will be making more soon and all year long. Used walnuts instead and loved every bite!!!

Love It!

This was my first attempt at biscotti, and I used it in Christmas goodie packages! My husband says it's the best he's ever had. I plan to make more tomorrow before relatives arrive for Christmas.

Disappointed

The cookies crumbled as I cut them. It was nearly impossible to cut a reasonably sized cookie. I need to cut thick slices in order to prevent the cookie from crumbling.

My first time making biscotti. Who wants to buy them in the store now. I couldn't keep my husband out of them. I used walnuts instead of hazelnuts. I also dipped them in melted chocolate chips that I melted in a double boiler after they were maked the second time and sprinkled with finely chopped walnuts. I did have a little trouble cutting them becaused they crumbled a bit, but how cares! They were so delicious.

Not a bad start, just not quite for me. I found it was too chocolatey, and not quite sweet enough. Next time I'll increase the sugar, and use milk chocolate chips instead. Otherwise, nice recipe.

Fabulous! I Love this Recipe

Great recipe. The tops of the logs cracked though after the first baking. I think I will reduce the baking soda a little bit. I didnt have hazelnuts so I added almonds instead with some almond extract. Delicious!

This biscotti is as good as the pretty expensive "award winning" ones I buy at our local gormet store. Very easy to make -- no problems with crumbles, etc. like some other reviewers. These turn out crunchy, not soft at all in the middle when they are baked for the additional 10 min. I substituted slivered almonds. Great recipe.

too crumbly and salty
03/31/2006 at 05:20pm
User: Rashmi from Audubon, PA    User Rating:
I made this recipe with unsalted butter, so I am sure that it did not turn out to be salty due to over salting, ... used the amount of salt specified, and they came out to be quite salty for my taste. Also, it was very crymbly, could not successfully cut them, broke atleast 5-6 biscottis, and the center remained a tad bit chewy. I prefer fairly dry biscotti so they are perfect for dunking... this one is moist in the middle. Will make this recipe again, but with lesser salt and will probably use half baking powder and half baking soda to get better texture, will probably cut down on the butter as well.

Affordable delicacy

My family is a big fan of biscotti and we all know how pricey they can get. This is an affordable way to get the freshest and best that I ever had biscotti. We've altered chips, nuts, and more to this simple recipe! Don't be afraid to jazz them up!

was as easy as...biscotti!!!

this recipe was so easy to follow. I only wanted to make 15 pieces so i only used 1/2 of each ingredient... I should have just made the 30...they were gone in seconds...my family (who are all coffee-holics) loved them and are asking me to make some more...:)

tasty....

I have been making these for a while, found recipe in gourmet magazine. When shaping the log, wet your hands. It will not crack as much. I use almonds instead of hazelnuts and comes out great everytime. I make these every few weeks. I make double recipe and bag them after they cool in cute bags. Otherwise, I would eat them all. When my friends come by I always have something for them to take home. They are always asking for these biscotti...

I did the same as a fellow viewer. Macadamia nuts and chocolate chips are great with this recipe. I then drizzled white chocolate over the biscotti giving it a great presentation!

not very sweet

Easy. Followed review and baked and cooled longer. No crumbling worries. Only put in 3/4 c. hazelnuts. Between nuts & cocoa, not very sweet. Would add more chips and make them milk choc. for sweetness. Also lower salt. Will make again w/changes.

Such a delicious recipe! Made some as gifts and my friends say they can't stop eating them. My husband and I are also addicted and now must always have some with our coffee and tea. For those who mentioned having crumbling issues, it may be that the knife is not sharp enough. I used a good quality chef's knife (so not even serrated) and it cut perfectly every time. I used to own cheap knives and finally invested in some good ones. It makes all the difference.
