Yummy Easy Leftover Cure

Christmas came and went, leaving my family completely 'hammed-out'... three days of various ham dinners and lunches and breakfasts still did not evaporate the leftovers. This soup was so simple and created such a nice rich broth, that my family has been happily been gobbling it up. The only change we made was that we added a few small chopped red potatoes in the last 20 minutes.

Not a lot of flavor

I love Sara, and have made a lot of her recipes, but this soup left a little to be desired. Not much flavor even though I threw in some montreal chicken flavor spice mix to perk it up a bit, it was just flat.

I tried it with a meaty ham bone, as was recommended, and it was great!

This is a delicious recipe but I think I might use a ham bone instead of ham hock next time. It was a bit too salty and not a lot of ham to put in soup. Other than that, it was yummy.

We used the leftover ham bone from Easter Dinner and this was great. I don't like mushrooms so I left them out and tripled the garlic. It was very tasty and so simple to make. We will probably make this all the time when we have a ham bone!

Great Recipe

This was a great way to use that left-over ham bone. I was getting tired of split pea and tried this. My 88 yr old dad loved it, as did my husband.

Excellent- and I dont even like lentils!!

An excellent way to use the leftover ham bone from Christmas dinner. Our whole family loves this.
