Please read the recipe. Boston Baked Beans are the best, but it is so important the you use the darkest malases(sp??) you can get. I use blackjack. I also soak the beans for 24 hours. That get rid of a lot of the gases, but it is also important you do not eat 6 servings at once. The beans will still be hard after the soak, they sorten when you cook them. The slow cooker is a great idea, if not 250 for at least 6 hours. I also chop my onions larger, just because I love onions. If you don't like a recipe go back and see if you did anything wrong before you leave a negative. If you have a question, don't leave a negative. That really stinks.

Not much taste -- a lot of cooking for nothing.

For all of the nay-sayers of this recipe out there... Use a crock pot! I used sauteed bacon and 2T. of bacon fat for the salt pork, and the DARK molasses for extra flavor. I personally don't think the recipe has enough onion, so I doubled the amount and then some, then cooked it all in a crock pot on low until the beans were soft and the liquid absorbed, somewhere around 10 hours on low if I remember correctly. This recipe turns out much better than any canned beans out there. Take the time to soak the beans overnight OR bring the beans to a boil (from cold water), boil hard for 5 minutes and let them cool completely in the boiled water then use them. Try these changes, then re-rate the recipe!!

easy and tasty
