Great in Pasta!! 06/26/2008 at 02:15pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The shrimp was the best shrimp I had ever had. but we decided that since we had lots of pasta in the house we turn it into shrimp pasta so we used the brine, cooked it like it said, then placed it in pasta and it made a wonderful dinner! You've done it again Alton! Great 06/12/2008 at 05:55pm User: Austin from Atlanta, GA User Rating: It is great. Why can't I just rate it and not write a review? Oh I'm converted 06/01/2008 at 06:46pm User: Kaitlyn from Leland, NC User Rating: I'm trying to get more seafood into my diet and checked this recipe out. I have never been able to make such tasty, restaurant quality shrimp before! I won't ever go back! Lucialicious 05/31/2008 at 03:05pm User: Angelina from Portland, OR User Rating: The shrimp was perfectly tender and had rich succulent flavor. The dipping sauce was divine. A wonderful tangy yet spicy delight to the palate Great on the grill too!!! 04/24/2008 at 10:42am User: Beverly from Lindenhurst, NY User Rating: I am having a BBq on Saturday and saw this episode last night. Decide to do a trial run, but didn't want to smoke up the house (not sure my oven could handle 500 degress after my teenage daughter and friends baked last night...what a mess). So, I just put the baking sheet on the grill and fired away. They came out fantastic!! I will probably use the grill method again for the BBQ...no need to heat up the kitchen. Cocktail sauce was simple and better than any 'fresh' one I ever purchased from a seafood market...thanks Alton!! more sizzle than steak 04/23/2008 at 08:45pm User: frank from league city, TX User Rating: he obviously knows little about shrimp but presents himself as all knowing. it makes me doubt his knowledge on all subjects. if he could grill his ego and find a worthy sauce----not going to happen. i am more disappointed all the time as his show drifts away from reality towards frivolity----should appeal to the 'idol' crowd though. Fresh tasting 04/23/2008 at 11:24am User: Leona from Ashland, NE User Rating: We loved this sauce at our house this winter. Even with canned tomatoes it tasted like summer. I do think that I will peel seed and chop my own come harvest time. THX Alton! For me, this made it perfect. The presentation is a big hit also. Blows my mind! 07/14/2007 at 07:15pm User: Michele from Manteca, CA User Rating: I have made this recipe for so many folks, and get RAVE reviews on it every time! The shrimp I get from Costco, and the size, after brining, is unbelievable, plus, so tender! We eat them hot, or cold. We LOVE AB, you RULE! Excellent is all I can say. I have had several requests for the recipe and told everyone where to get it. Skeptical no more!! Try the same recipe, but using the grill too......Outta this world! Best Shrimp 07/05/2007 at 02:43pm User: Linda from Westminster, MD User Rating: I used 16-20 count shrimp and still followed the cooking directions and it was the most tender and moist shrimp that I have ever eaten. I used a lot more Old Bay because I love it. Thanks a million Alton. Alton Rules! 06/03/2007 at 08:49pm User: Alvaro from Weston, FL User Rating: I always liked cooking, but when Mr. Brown showed me the science side, I fell in love. utiulkyu 04/02/2007 at 06:53pm User: Anonymous User Rating: iyuoigl Best ever! 03/24/2007 at 03:51pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My family is from southern Louisiana originally and to say we are familiar with shrimp is an understatment, yet this recipe is better than any shrimp boil I've ever done! (Although I do miss the corn and potatoes!) Thank you...everyone I've made it for has asked for more and the recipe! Excellent!!! 02/18/2007 at 10:23am User: MAURO from Enfield, CT User Rating: Have made this recipe on a few occasions since seeing the show 2 months ago...all my guests went crazy for them. THE ONLY WAY TO SERVE SHRIMP! 01/28/2007 at 01:18pm User: Margie from Dale, TX User Rating: I lived in the Florida Keys for 20 years. We ate a TON of shrimp cooked in awesome variety of methods. But, I use this method exclusively now. The shrimp retains it's sweet, slightly nutty flavor due to being encased in the shell and not over-cooked. I wonder if the reviewer who thought this recipe too salty rinsed the shrimp thoroughly after removing from the brine? Shrimp 12/25/2006 at 04:50pm User: Theresa from North Monmouth, ME User Rating: Everyone loved this at Christmas brunch! Perfect 12/17/2006 at 10:06am User: Keith from Bettendorf, IA User Rating: Another Perfect, simple, straight forward recipe from Alton! Excellent 11/11/2006 at 06:44pm User: Kevin from Durham, NC User Rating: Great shrimp and sauce. Super easy! Amazing 10/23/2006 at 06:30pm User: Steve from Shoreview, MN User Rating: I'll never eat precooked shrimp again. homemade sauce makes the dish 10/06/2006 at 08:37pm User: JILL from Eden Prairie, MN User Rating: After seeing the episode we had to try this and we weren't disappointed. It was fast and easy to put together. The texture and taste of the shrimp far exceeded that of any store bought pre-cooked shrimp and the sauce was amazing. Next time I'd try freshly grated horseradish just for an extra kick. Outstanding 10/03/2006 at 10:54pm User: John from Suwanee, GA User Rating: Just made this for a party, everyone loved it. Only things I did different was cook them slightly longer since the shrimp were large (8-9 count). And I peeled them before serving. Several people asked for the recipe. Great 10/02/2006 at 11:02pm User: Wayne from Watertown, CT User Rating: Shrimpy flavor; Jumbo taste excellent take on old fave! 09/21/2006 at 06:15pm User: Steven from Boise, ID User Rating: it would not have occurred to me to broil the shrimp, but it makes all the difference. We'll never make any other 09/04/2006 at 07:24pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This was fabulous. We made it for Christmas to take as a contribution. Using very large prawns, this was absolutely the best appetizer there. Shrimp Perfection 07/16/2006 at 07:54am User: Lynn from St. Clair Shores, MI User Rating: My husband LOVES shrimp and unfortunately we do not have fresh shrimp in Michigan. He's lived on the East coast before and has had fresh. He raved about this recipe and no mention that it would have been better with fresh! fantastic 05/21/2006 at 12:32pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Significantly more flavor than boiled shrimp I will NEVER steam or boil shrimp again!!! 04/17/2006 at 09:16pm User: Joanna from Arcata, CA User Rating: Quick, easy, flavorful. This is such a delicious recipe that it's hard to believe how simple it is. Why did I never think to broil shrimp before? This flavor is so good you'll never boil or steam again. My mistake was brineing too far ahead. Although I rinsed off the shrimp, the over-long brineing (2 hours) made the shrimp a little too salty. That was my fault. If I had followed the recipe correctly, it would have been perfect. I chose to serve these warm as a appetizer -- they won rave reviews & there were none left. Great texture 04/12/2006 at 03:34pm User: w from Chandler, AZ User Rating: Brining the shrimp gives the meat a great texture. First time we tried this we did not brine half the shrimp and the brined were the favorites. Hot and juicy 03/24/2006 at 05:07pm User: SHARON from San Diego, CA User Rating: Wow, is this simple...I used "Survival Spice" in lieu of Old Bay...hot and juicy great recipes 03/24/2006 at 11:58am User: john from oreland, PA User Rating: great recipe, great show. keep 'em comin' Good, easy, and fast! 01/05/2006 at 01:03pm User: Ana from Woodbridge, VA User Rating: These shrimps were so easy and fast to make, i will use this recipe from now on to make shimps. My husband and I made them for a party and it was a great hit! WONDERFUL 09/29/2005 at 11:11am User: VICKIE from Villa Rica, GA User Rating: I really impressed friends with this alternate way of serving "shrimp maritinis". Thanks Alton! Great! 09/23/2005 at 01:05pm User: BETH from Milford, MA User Rating: This was easy and awesome! Alton is Amazing! 08/29/2005 at 06:56pm User: Karen from Kingston, PA User Rating: I could hardly wait for them to cool! They are moist and perfect! I will have to make these for the next get together at my place because these are so easy and yummy! Best Shrimp Recipe ... 08/20/2005 at 04:27pm User: Jennifer from Daphne, AL User Rating: This is the best shrimp recipe we have come up with for fixing at home. The only recipe I have ever had that could possible best it is the Shrimp Basket, but I guess since they specialize in shrimp, that is OK. Thanks Alton, for this wonderful recipe! We have used it twice since this show aired on Food Network! He shoots . . . he scores! 07/10/2005 at 09:05am User: Gregg from Hershey, PA User Rating: Alton has done it again! This is simply the best way to prepare shrimp that you will be eat with fingers! None of the flavor is lost to the water or steam, but is concentrated in the shrimp. Luckily we can get our shrimp already deveined with the shell on, as Alton suggests in the recicpe. Saves lots of time! No more "steamed" shrimp for us! BEST SHRIMP EVER 05/24/2005 at 01:22pm User: AMBER from DENVER, CO User Rating: I can't beleive how well this shrimp turned out. I have been cooking shrimp at home for a long time but always wondered why it was never as good as it is in restaurants. Now I know the secret - and will never steam or even saute shrimp again. Perfection - Thanks Alton you rock!!! Easy as shrimp! 05/18/2005 at 08:54pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Easy and it tastes great! Great for Carolina Shrimp 04/10/2005 at 10:16am User: Chuck from Franklin, VA User Rating: I used this recipe with 21/25 ct North Carolina shrimp and it was FANTASTIC. We plan to try this technique and cook the shrimp over charcoal. wonderful and easy 03/26/2005 at 10:46am User: KEM from memphis, TN User Rating: this recipe is wonderful. it is so easy to make. also most people have the ingredients on hand. Wonderful flavor and texture 02/13/2005 at 02:57pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I served this for New Year's Eve and my family loved it. I was concerned that my kids would not like the the texture, but they loved it. Try it with shrimp from Hawaii for a sweeter taste. Too salty 02/07/2005 at 05:00pm User: ELLEN from Flower Mound, TX User Rating: Followed the recipe exactly, but the shrimp turned out salty. My first experience with brining. Would not do it again. Shrimpsational! 01/27/2005 at 12:51am User: PEGGY from Johnstown, PA User Rating: This is, hands down, the best shrimp my family and friends say they have ever eaten! I purchased the easy-peel (deveined) shrimp, which made the prep a lot easier. Other than that I couldn't improve on perfection! As another reviewer stated, I also prefer it to lobster now too. I can't believe what a difference a great recipe can make. Try it. You'll like it! ;) Shrimp 12/10/2004 at 10:06am User: KRISTEN from Collierville, TN User Rating: It was really good...the broiling brought out alot of flavor. It's a little messy preparing the shrimp...but worth it. His show is my favorite and the only "grown up" show my 3 year old will watch. Delish! 10/18/2004 at 02:33pm User: ERIN from Schenectady, NY User Rating: So easy and delicious. I highly recommend. Worth it just for the Shrimp 10/16/2004 at 05:29pm User: MARTHA from Mandeville, LA User Rating: First of all, I did not prepare the sauce. The method of brining and broiling the shrimp, however, is a clear winner! I used my shrimp for a shrimp remoulade, and it got raves! The next day at a party, we were served boiled shrimp alongside a bowl of similar remoulade sauce. There was no comparison in the taste of the shrimp! I may never boil shrimp again -- lol! kyglutton 10/03/2004 at 04:24pm User: BRYAN from Fort Wright, KY User Rating: I will never boil shrimp again! I choose to sprinkle half of the shrimp with the "old bay" seasoning. Some people just enjoy the shrimp without the spices. love! 09/30/2004 at 03:23pm User: LOUISA from New York, NY User Rating: i love alton brown!!! Best Ever! 09/13/2004 at 09:15pm User: SUSAN from Gig Harbor, WA User Rating: Wow! So good! The shrimp had such a delicate texture, like lobster. Infact, I liked this shrimp more than any lobster I have ever had! Very worth the effort! It was great. Thank you Alton! Get 'em while they're hot 07/24/2004 at 02:59pm User: RUTH from Miami Beach, FL User Rating: One day when it too rainy to grill shrimp I decided to try this recipe. It is worth the time to brine-we used 15/lb shrimp-and the broilig worked great. Couldn't wait for them to chill so we ate them hot out of the oven with just a squeeze of lemon. Yum! We've made them several times since them and always eat hot or at room temperature. I was amazed how easy and delicious it is. this is fantastic 06/18/2004 at 01:27am User: Anonymous User Rating: Alton has come up with another winner! This is the best! WARNING !!! 06/17/2004 at 05:22pm User: JOSEPH from clarksville , TN User Rating: My best advice ... do not try this. It's more addictive than golf. yum! 05/25/2004 at 10:55am User: Anonymous User Rating: This is the only way I'll eat shrimp now. Nothing better than sitting at the table with a bowl of shrimp and sauce! Old dog learns new trick 05/24/2004 at 07:59pm User: JEREMY from Cordova, TN User Rating: I have learned that Alton knows a thing or two (or three) about food. This was the first ever episode I caught of Good Eats. I thought he was just another Thomas Dolby look-a-like. Boy, was I wrong. I'll never be able to eat shrimp any other way than this from now on! Just try his technique once and you're hooked. I even got my boss to do it...NOW HE'S HOOKED!!! Thanks Alton for showing me the way (and getting me a pay raise to boot)! BEST SHRIMP 05/17/2004 at 08:14pm User: SUZANNE from BABYLON, NY User Rating: its a little more work then just cooking the shrimp on top of the stove, but it is certainly worth the effort. moist, tender, and lots more flavor. |
