Emeril's recipes are always dependable. A very good cake, moist and delicious. It was a bit too sweet for me though, I would use less sugar next time. The taste reminds me of pound cake but not as dense. I frosted with whipped cream and sprinkled coconut on top. YUM!

I made changes, quite a few changes since we're gluten free. Basically I changed to a combo of GF flours, added 1 tsp vanilla extract to the batter, used coconut milk in place of the buttermilk, and frosted the entire thing in the lemon cream cheese frosting since it was so good. With all my changes it came out awesome. It was so moist and the frosting is just awesome.

The cake was very good. I loved the lemon cream cheese frosting so decided to frost the entire cake with it and it was a big hit with my family.

A very tasty cake, but a lengthy baking process, with a lot of ingredients. I found that some of the measurements were off I had a lot of icing and filling left over. Probably won't make again.

Made this for the first time for my moms birthday. Told her what I had made and without ever tasting it , she didn't seem that excited. However, once I served it, she and my dad were ooohing and aaaahing the whole time they ate their first piece!!!

I made this for my husband's birthday. He said it was the best birthday cake he's ever eaten. I've never, ever made a cake like this before and it is only my second from-scratch cake ever. The recipe is very easy to follow. I hate when people review recipes then say all the things they changed. Well, I did use coconut milk instead of buttermilk for a more intense coconut flavor. I also used shredded coconut. I am sure fresh coconut would be amazing though. The filling is to die for and the boiled icing was great. My icing turned out perfect! The cake is gorgeous!!!! I kept it in the fridge because the day I made it our A.C. went out. The cake was even better the second day because the flavors intensified. The cake was delicious cold! I think using coconut milk made the cake 10 stars so even with buttermilk it would easily be 5 stars. FANTASTIC!!!!!
