I took my fondue pot with me to a picnic at a local vineyard. I thought fresh fruit, chocolate and wine, how can you get any better. Well this recipe STOLE the show. The wines just couldn't compete with how yummy this turned out to be. Best of all I could make it on site in my fondue pot. No double boiler required for the prep work. I followed the recipe exactly with one substitution of Kahlua for my liquor. It was heavenly, and it stays soft even when cold. It turns into a chocolaty icing in the fridge so you can eat it cold or hot. KUDOS!!!

I love this chocolate fondue recipe. I always try the recipes just as they are before I try and better them. I'm not sure I would do anything with this one, it was so good. We made it for kids, so I used the inexpensive chocolate and it was great. I can't wait to see what it will be like with better chocolate.

I made this using half milk chocolate and half dark chocolate. At my cocktail party everyone just stood at the fondue pot with this chocolate, they couldn't bear to leave it. I did have several other yummy appetizers but this chocolate fondue was the Bomb!!! They were dipping fresh strawberries in the chocolate then in finely chopped pistachios. Also dipped were pretzels, pound cake, raisins, marshmallows & apples. Make this then diet for a week!!

So simple and easy to "make it your own"! I added some high quality cinnamon, the juice of an orange and zest. Phenomenal! It worked beautifully even without the caramel sauce.

This fondue was fantastic! I cut the recipe in half since it was just two of us.
I didn't have caramel topping so I used butterscotch caramel topping instead and I used grand marnier for the liqueur. I used the orange liqueur because I squeezed orange juice over my apples and bananas to get them from turning brown. Chocolate and orange is a great flavor combination. For the dippers we used strawberries, apples, bananas and nutter butter cookies which another reviewer had suggested. If you can find them ritz sticks are also quite tasty...its the sweet/salty thing!

    This was awesome!
I did not have a fondue pot so I made this in my mini crock pot and it turned out great.
This was my first experiment with fondue and this recipe will definitely be my special occasion 'go to' dessert.
I may even purchase a fondue pot next time!

My husband and I really wanted to go to a local fondue hotspot for Valentine's Day, but it was ridiculously expensive. So instead, I decided to make chocolate fondue for us for Valentine's Day. This recipe was AMAZING!!!!!! And we had leftovers for two additional dipping sessions! I used a mix of bitter (dark chocolate and semi-sweet Ghirardelli chips, along with the butterscotch caramel sauce and hazelnut sugar free syrup (the kind you would put in your coffee for flavor, I found a sugar free one that was sweetened with Splenda near the coffee shop in our local supermarket- Wegmans, it was $5.99. HINT: I couldn't find a fondue set right away and I wanted to keep within a reasonable budget, so instead, I found a 2 QT Crock Pot for only $10 at Walmart, this worked great!!!! It was the perfect size! And now it can be used for multiple things! For the skewers, I used shorter wooden skewers for BBQing ($0.99 for 100. For dippers, I recommend: rice crispy treats (I bought the already made ones in individual wrappers and cut them into quarters, bananas, strawberries, pound cake, marshmallows, and biscotti. Making this chocolate fondue will certainly become a weekend treat!!!
