Made this for my wife and she loved it. Even my kids, who are very picky about what they eat, loved this one.

This is the best Black Eye Pea recipe my family has ever tried. I ate two huge bowls and my luck should be flying high this year!!! :

Wonderful recipe full of flavor. Only problem is trying to find Tasso, depending on your location. We just used regular ham in lieu of Tasso.

My Southern hubby said that they came Super-close to the fantastic meals his daddy use to make. This is HIGH praise indeed!

The taste was delicious. I made a big dumb mistake and wanted let other know not to do the same. I have never cooked with ham hocks before so I pulled them out and cut up the meat and threw it in the pot. The fat and gristle from the ham hocks made the dish disgusting. I should have known better but I rushed to have dinner ready and wasnt thinking. The meal tasted delicious but the fat and gristle ruined it.

After finding the recipe for our New Years Day/Cotton Bowl Party...my husband sampled the peas, he's not a pea fan, he said "These are the best!".
