This soup is awesome, reminds me of a Spicy African Peanut soup I love at a local restaurant. The peanut taste definitely comes out more than the veggies or sweet potatoes....nice to know that something so tasty and rich tasting is good for you too. I love your recipes Ellie! yum!

I do not like sweet potato's, however, knowing I should eat them and my husband does like them, I thought I would give this a try and it was simply wonderful!! Easy to make, I did not taste the peanut butter - cooked it exactly as the recipie calls for. Wonderful dish - definately will make this one again!!

My husband and I love this soup. We used the recipe exactly as it is and I would't change a thing. The spicy and the sweet balance out perfectly. It does make a lot for two people so we froze half.

This soup sounded too interesting to pass up. Even though I used half the peanut butter called for in the recipe, peanut butter still overpowered the aroma and flavor. To make soup more edible, to the blender I added one cup of sour cream with one cup of the hot pureed soup. Add back to rest of pureed soup. When serving, in addition to the chives, I added a dallop of sour cream along with 1 heaping tablespoon sauteed pancetta (cut into 1/4 inch dice, sauteed till golden brown, drained on paper towel. End result was interesting, but not worth repeating.

What a marvelous soup. It's hearty enough to eat as a meal or as a small starter to a wonderful Fall dish. The cayenne pepper was a bit much so I added only half the next round. WOW!!!! Beautiful mix of flavors!!!

After watching this episode I just had to try this soup. It came out amazing. I didn't think the cayenne was too much, but I am from south Louisiana where we use lots of it. It may be too much for some tastes. It made a lot, so I froze the leftovers for another time.

I did NOT like this soup. It tasted like V-8 juice after I blended it all together. Then after the peanut butter step, yuck. All I tasted was the peanut butter (and yes I used the natural peanut butter, though it probably would not have made a difference. It looked so great when Ellie made it on her show, that i had to try it.
I guess I had a different taste in mind, sorry.

My husband and I loved this soup! I changed a few things. ---I didn't puree all of the vegetables . I left half of the vegetables in the soup and I didn't use chicken broth. I used the six cups of water and just added some herbs and garlic seasonings to reduce the salt intake. My husband now wants me to make it often for dinner.

I added cinnamon and nutmeg to up the flavors a bit. I also made some spiced (emeril's bayou whole wheat croutons. I enjoyed this wholesome soup. I'm no sure I tasted the peanut butter at all. I might try nuts next time.
