These turned out PERFECT! I don't like shortening because of the transfats, so I froze a stick of butter and shredded it in the dry mix. My butter was salted, so I cut the salt to 1/2 teaspoon. After 15 minutes, my biscuits were not ready to take out of the oven, so I let them bake for another 8 minutes or so.

I loved this recipe, I'm not a baker but decided to give this recipe a try. The biscuits didn't rise the way I thought they should, maybe I'll add a little more baking powder but the taste and texture where great! I will make a batch to go with the homade chicken noodle soup that I have on the menu tomorrow night! I'm from the south, my husband said they tasted just like the biscuits from Popeye's Chicken. Thanks, Tyler

Used this recipe tonight when I made fried chicken for dinner. This super easy recipe produced some super tasty biscuits. And this is the first time I've ever made biscuits from scratch! Thanks for a winning recipe, Tyler.

I rarely take the time to review recipes, but these biscuits deserve to be praised. I have always struggled to make delicious biscuits. They're always too flat, too tough, or too baking powder-y. These biscuits are exquisite! They are crisp on the outside and delectably soft, tender, and moist in the middle. They have a hint of saltiness but none of the off-putting baking powder flavor that ruins so many homemade biscuits.
The only substitution I made was using half Crisco and half butter.
The only complaint I have is that the biscuits didn't rise quite as much as I'd hoped, but they definitely rose better than other recipes I've tried. I cannot be sure if this is the recipe or something I did.
Overall, if you have struggled with other biscuit recipes, I insist that you try this one before giving up on biscuits.

Awesome recipe! I was looking for a trusty go to buttermilk biscuit recipe and this was soooooo delicious and I love minimal ingredients in a recipe. Saving this!
