I've made this a few times prior to this show, since it is in her Nigella Express cookbook, and it is delicious. I noticed she fried the bacon in a little garlic oil on the show, but that doesn't seem necessary. Easy and fast!

Made this last night and it was so easy and great. I had unexpected guests also, and they raved about it. I did not have brandy, per se, but I did have cognac and it worked great. I am so glad I watch the episode carefully because I love lentils and I put lentils in the drippings in the pan and it was just fabulous. Great recipe!

AmI missing something? I couldn't watch this am, outside feeding birds in 30 mph winds -5 degree actual temp! she mentions a potato and mushroom gratin that she states "that follows". Did I miss that by not watching? Thanks!

I made this last week and it has become my favourite roast chicken recipe of all time - I tell everyone who will listen. It's so easy, relatively mess-free and so very tasty. Kudos again to Nigella.
