Apple baklava is very interesting and creative. You should definitely try other Turkish Baklava's too..there are so many kinds.

This dessert was good, but it was a lot of work and got kind of soggy. i've never made a Baklava before so i really don't know how it's supposed to be..i thought it was OK. Something different

I thought this was a great recipe, although I would suggest doubling the filling because I didn't think it was enough...otherwise, everyone I made it for loved it!

Too moist, I used the pint of water as stated I think 1 cup of water would have worked better. Also I had made an additional version using Grapeseed oil instead of the butter for my Vegan friends.It turned out lighter and crispier by using less sugar water and the grapeseed oil.I would use this recipe again, with the modifications. The Apple used was also granny smith and I had used chopped pecans with the chopped pistacios instad of walnuts due to an allergy issue.

The filo dough I bought came in 2 rolls. Following the recipe, I only used one roll (1/2 lb of the dough. I think I put too much of the sugar/honey water over the top of the cooked baklava. I let it sit in the 2 cups of sugar water overnight and it was too moist. I think it would have worked better with about 1 cup of this poured over the top. The flavor is good.

I made it. It was my first ever baklava. There were lots of things going on inside it. 25 other people who attended my party appreciated it very much. Granny Smith apple was a good choice because of its sour taste and typical smell. nuts, apple, lime and the softness caused by the sugar syrup created an impeccable combination. It's not hard but fillo dough is a bit problematic to handle for a first timer like me. If you like to cook and try out different things and come out in flying colors then definitely try this.
