These baked beans were the absolute best
    I have ever had!!
The only thing I did differently was to add about a tablespoon of molasses, and also about the same of dijon mustard.
They were even better the following day!
I will be making these again and again!
    Thank you!

I recently made these beans and thought they were spectacular. I followed the cooking directions up until it was time to put them in the oven - after simmering them, I put everything in a crock pot for about 6 hours (2 on high, 4 on low. They can be a bit time consuming to make, but throwing them in the crock pot can be helpful so you don't have to babysit the oven all day.

I doubled the recipe and had so many leftovers, I ate them for 3 days straight. They tasted better with each passing day. Super yummy and definitely worth it if you like baked beans.

I'd never made baked beans before, and am not even especially fond of them, so I'm not sure why I tried this recipe. The bacon, maybe? The maple syrup? The chili paste? Whatever - the beans were out-of-this-world delicious, and I can't wait to try them again. Thank you, Ina!

I substituted navy beans for the kidney beans and since I'm not a big fan of ginger I reduced the amount to 1 tsp. One tsp. of the chili paste was enough "heat" for me and I loved the depth of flavor it added to the dish. The beans are definitely on the sweet side so it wouldn't hurt to reduce the brown sugar to suit your taste. These are by far the best baked beans I've ever had and I was sorry to see the last serving disappear. I look forward to making them again and again.

.......... Well, we all know how that one goes! These were absolutely EXCELLENT!! I used Great Northern White beans and substituted cayenne for the chili paste. I "baked" my beans on the grill along with a pork shoulder. I took the lid off for last 30 minutes to thicken and add apple-wood smoke to them. What raves I recieved from our guests last evening!!

    THANKS for a great recipe!

These beans are so good, absolutely the best! Easy, too. We loved the combination of the ginger, the maple syrup and the chili paste.

I love Ina Garten, I love all of her recipes. They all work. Except for this one - which is not really hers. The ginger was overwhelming and the taste weird. Not for me. But I do love everything else she has ever done!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BAKED BEANS & HAVE SCOURED THE EARTH TO FIND THE BEST!!!!! THE SEARCH HAS ENDED........THIS IS IT. I COULD NOT FIND THE CHINESE CHILI PASTE SO I WAS MINUS THAT, HOWEVER, STILL THE BEST.....I THINK I DREAMED OF WAKING UP & MAKING A SANDWICH OF THEM LIKE WE DID AS KIDS. MAKE THESE, YOU WON'T BE SORRY....THEY CAME OUT PERFECTLY.

My sister and I made these for Easter! They are so good! We doubled the recipe and then put them in the crock pot for 6 1/2 hours instead of baking them and they were perfect. We followed the receipe as is and with the 2 tablespoons of Chinese Chili Paste it was perfect ... not hot at all. We even thought the sauce would make a great ribs marinade. Enjoy! We Highly Recommend this Recipe!
