This recipe is delicious and a great way to sneak mushrooms in the kids food. Everyone old and young raved how tasty the meat was and juicy too. I also used beef stock. This will be going into our recipe rotation!

I am fortunate enough to live near Cleveland, so I am able to visit Sokolowski's University Inn, where I eat this regularly. I was hesitant to try this at first, worried that it wouldn't turn out as good as Mike & Bernie's, (the chefs who make this dish.

But, after I got it together and in the oven, it was quicker and easier that I had thought it would be. I too substituted beef stock for the veal, and noticed no real variation in flavor.

This was very tasty served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Even my kids ate it!

Made this for dinner lastnight. It was so simple I plan on making it more often.I made a substitution of using beef broth instead of veal stock and it turned out great. The recipe states that this makes up to 12 servings, but there was no need for me to use all of the meat mixture so I froze the rest to save for future steaks, meatloaf or meatballs. If you don't care for mushrooms you can't really taste them in the meat mixture, and you can leave them out of the gravy. This was so good even my picky eatter ate it.
Served it with stuffing instead of mashed potatoes and steamed veggies.

Very good recipe. Quite easy, with a lot of serious flavor. I didn't put any mushrooms in the gravy, because my wife doesn't like 'em. But I did chop them up very fine in mix, and she didn't even notice. She's a big fan of the store-bought version, and her opinion was this beat the store stuff.

This turned out great! I didn't add the mushrooms to the meat because my son wouldn't like it! But I did add about a 1/4 cup of water and these turn out so juicy and good!
