I was very happy with how it turned out, but it did not blow me away like almost all of alton's other dishes...
I guess it might be that meatloaf in a comfort food to me, and I grew up on my Mum's... and will probably always think that her's is the best!

I made this for a friend and we really thought it was very good. I'm not the biggest fan of Cumin so i didn't add as much as the recipe called for but i prefered the crouton compared to bread that i have tried in other recipes.

The Cummin over powerd the dish, The spicy flavor of the red pepper was to much. i followed the recipe to the tee and cooked it to 155 degrees and it smelled good while cooking but the taste was just OMG Bad. I ate it but threw the remaining meat loaf in the trash. What a waste of fresh meat. Alton you think that this meat loaf is "Good Eats" I say you are dead WRONG !

The reason I only give this recipe a 3 star is because you definately need a food processor to make this. I did not so the chunks of red pepper and carrots made this funky. I loved the flavor and using ground sirloin kept it moist. But definately need to ask Santa for a food procesoor!

Amazing!! I had the worst memories of meatloaf as a child. Soggy chunks of bread in basically a flavorless burger on roids. When I told my husband I was cooking a meatloaf for dinner, he sighed in disdain. But, we loved it. Alton's recipe is great.

Texture was great, but I could hardly taste the beef because of all the seasoning. I prefer the meatloaf on the back of the Quaker Oats box. Actually I've never had a meatloaf I didn't like including this one. But it just didn't taste like real meatloaf. My husband was crazy about it, though. He liked the little kick from the cayenne.
